Anna’s POV
“Wake up. Wake up, I know you’re awake. Don’t make me use force on you for you to open your damn eyes. Anna, open your eyes now,” he declared.
I instantly opened my eyes before he started smashing the hell out of my body.
“I am sorry for bluffing to be asleep. Please forgive me, Edwin,” I apologized.
“Who told you to call me by my name? Did I allow you to call me that? he asked me with rage. He is annoyed again.
“I am sorry. I won’t call you by your name again. Forgive me,” I apologized right away.
“Good, you should know better now. It seems you’re starting to get affixed to the dilemma you are in. I never imagined myself being able to conquer your ass before,” he uttered as he pinched my face.
What sort of life is this? The Lycan King has already forgotten me here. No one cares about me. No one even cares to know what I am going through here. I’m in hell here. Anyone who wants to save me should do that fast before my brain shuts down. This Lycan guard is a beast and a devil incarnate. Even if I killed his mate, being treated like a slave and a slut is overboard.
I promised him my all. I have the power to give him anything he wants, but he was making things difficult for me. How can I resuscitate his dead fucking mate when I was the one who assassinated her in the first place.
Come to think of it, why did I not sniff him out that day? I should have found out and killed him along with his bitchy mate. Now, I have docked myself in a heated brume. Killing that slave was fun; I guess I had so much fun that I didn’t notice that guard’s presence.
“What are you thinking about, my queen?” he asked me.
“My queen?” I know he’s teasing me again. I know better now.
“Nothing. I’m just regretting everything I did. Everything I did to you. I’m sorry.”
Sorry, my ass. As if I am sorry. If I have the chance to kill you, I will slay you without showing you mercy even if you beg me.
He raised his brow. “You’re sorry? I don’t think you’re. You are not sincere. Stop lying.”
“I’m sincere. I should have listened to her pleas that day and given her another chance to live. I should have forgiven her. I’m sorry,” I cried out.
My tears were scrambling out like tap moisture. I tried to be sincere and feel remorse.
“I’m guilty. Forgive me, please. I know that no amount of pleading or tears will bring the deceased back to life. All I ask is your forgiveness. Please forgive me.”
He stayed silent. He was shocked.
My acting was top-notch. No one in this pack or any Lycan or she-wolf female could beat me at acting and pretending.

Edwin’s POV
She’s asking for my forgiveness. Can people easily change? Why do I feel like she was lying despite her tears, doused mucus, and pleading? Her nose is drizzled with the phlegm that tints her mug.
Why do I feel that everything she’s doing is fake? Why am I feeling she’s not sincere at all?
Goodness, did I take it too far? Am I too wicked to her? But my mate. Her scream still hunts me down in my nightmares. I lost her because of this awful creature. Now her killer is pleading with me to forgive her. Was she entitled to have a good time here? Ever since she killed my mate, she has been napping peacefully without feeling a bit of guilt. Why did she suddenly feel that what she did was bad? No, I won’t be fooled by her.
She’s only begging me just to have a peaceful day here.
I miss my beautiful mate, Priya. The first time I met her, the first time I got to know I was blessed with an innocent and gorgeous girl like her as my fated one.
I was overjoyed. She’s a shy, easy-going girl and a blessed child filled with life. I have been thinking of having a family with her, something I had never had. I was planning to ask the Queen to grant her a free tendency, like a free birth. I want to live with her in a quiet place. I want to tell her how much I love her every single day of my life. I wanted to cherish her for the rest of my days, but my plan for my mate was ruined. It was ruined by that varmint.
I regretted being a coward. I regret hiding on that fateful day. I regret my actions for not protecting my mate.
My Lycan wolf decided not to speak to me ever since we lost our mate. Because of my cowardly act, my life was ruined. She ruined my life. She took everything from me. Not only that, but she also took my happiness and my life.
Why should I take pity on her? Why should I grant her mercy? Why?
I can’t kill her, but I can make her taste death. I will make her wish she had never encountered me. I will make her regret the day she was born. I will make her suffer and bite her nails in misery.

Lycan King Miller’s POV
“How is she? How’s my daughter Isabella, Davis? I asked the pack doctor.
“My king,” Davis, the pack doctor, bows his head.
“Enough of that. Tell me. How’s Isabella?”
“She’s fine, my king, it’s just that…” he paused.
“Just that what? Davis, don’t scare me. How’s she?”
“She’s fine, just that some of her bones were broken,” he finally answered me back.
“What? Broken? You say, her bones were broken?” I asked Davis.
“Yes, broken, my king. Do you know who the princess fought with, and how that fight resulted in her broken bones?” he asked.
“Don’t worry, Davis. I know who hurt my daughter. How dare she?” I roared. She even fabricated lies for me.
“Davis, will my daughter be okay?” I asked him, feeling worried.
“Yes, she will be. I’ve treated her. She will be fine, Your Majesty.”
“Can I check on her?” I asked him.
“Of course, my king. You can check on her, but she’s still asleep. Remember not to make any noise that might startle her to sleep,” he warns.
“OK. I understand. Thank you, Davis. You may take your leave now.”
“Thank you, my king,” he bows his head down in respect and takes his leave.
I entered and shut the door behind me. There she is, my little girl sleeping peacefully on the bed.
“How’s that sleep called a peaceful one? Is she sleeping peacefully, or is she being forced to sleep?”
“Don’t make me furious, Miller,” a demon voice sounds in my head.
No, no. Not again. My nagging Lycan is at it again.
“I’m sorry. I know I’m the one to blame, so I’m saying sorry to you, demon,” I immediately apologized to my Lycan wolf.
He sounds presumptuous. “Do you know you are at fault?” he asked me. “Well, I will forgive you this time, but the next time you treat our daughter like this, I won’t forgive you again. Do you understand?” he grumbled.
Losing the upper hand, I have no option but to accept.
“Yes sir. I understand.” I can’t keep arguing with him. Right now, I need to focus on my beloved daughter. My little one, she’s grown up already.
After hours of being with Isabella, I decided to check on my mate.
I hurriedly went to where she was. I opened the door to check. Maybe she is still sleeping, but I was wrong. I saw her beside her bed.
“Mia,” I walked up to her. “Why did you get up from bed? You are still weak, and you should be resting, my queen,” I told her, trying to make her lay down on the bed.
“Don’t touch me. Don’t you dare touch me with your filthy hands, Miller!” she yanked my hands away.
“What?” I was stunned. “Filthy hands? What’s wrong, Mia? What’s going on?” I asked her.
“Where is my daughter? Where’s Isabella?”
“She’s good, Mia. Our daughter is fine,” I responded.
“She’s good, huh? Do you think I don’t know what happened to her? I was informed already. Why do you abhor my daughter? Tell me, Miller. Why?” she cried out.
“What are you talking about, my queen? How can I abhor my daughter, Mia? She’s our daughter.”
I was surprised when she asked me that question. How could I hate my daughter? What had gotten into her?
“You sicken me. You were always like this. I assumed you were going to change into a better man, but I was wrong. I’m blind. I should have repudiated you. I should never have ratified you as my mate,” she stated with loathing. She feels animosity toward me.
“I’m sorry. I failed to protect our daughter. I know I’m at fault.”
I don’t know what to say. I’m short of words.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean all of this to happen, especially to her. I never thought something bad would happen to her. I never realized Anna was a bad lad. I’m sorry, my love. Please don’t be angry. You can whack and insult me, but please don’t be angry at me,” I pleaded.
Mia must not get angry. Davis warned me already. If I don’t want to lose my mate, I must never make her get angry.
“Please forgive me. Please, my queen,” I burst into tears.
I know she loves me, but she’s only acting like this because of her daughter. She immediately forgave me when I started weeping. We both love each other. I could never do anything without her.
Mia has been dwelling and sleeping with her daughter. She’s not awake yet.
We are starting to get worried. Is she going to be fine? I keep asking Davis this question every day.
I was in my office sorting out documents when I heard a knock.
“Come in,” I answered, without bucking up and still immersing myself in my work.
“My king, I’m here to beg you on behalf of my daughter, Anna,” the voice announces.
Anna? That name. I feel it would be better not to hear her name. She is the spur of all my misfortune and miseries. She made me suffer from my mate’s hand. She made Mia feel hostility toward me and regret it when she didn’t rescind me when she had the chance to. My mate has never said such a thing to me before.
“Yes. What about her?” I asked him, pretending not to hear him, my third in command.
“My king.”
“Enough, I slammed my desk. Enough, Chris. I don’t know why you’re here making apologies on behalf of your precious daughter, who wanted to murder my daughter, your princess. And you think I am going to forgive her just like that? Tell me!” I roared angrily. “Are you taking me for a fool? Tell me, Chris.”
He immediately kneels.
“No, my king. I don’t see you as a fool. Please, my king, I am here as a father to beg you on behalf of my daughter. Please have mercy on her. She’s just a lad, my king,” he pleaded.
I listened to him carefully.
“A lad? Chris, are you telling me she is a kid? Then she’s a child who has the heart of a demon. She attempted to murder my daughter, my only daughter. If I hadn’t gotten there earlier, or if I didn’t know about it, Anna could have killed her.”
“I’m sorry. I know what Anna did was bad. She committed a great onslaught on the royal family, but I’m begging you as a father. Please vindicate her life. She’s been my only daughter and my only family ever since her mother left her alone to me. I have been taking care of her. My king, I’m at fault. I didn’t teach her well. I didn’t raise her well. Please forgive her. I’m begging you to punish me instead of her.”
I don’t know what to do. I am speechless. He’s not lying. Anna is his only family and his only daughter. If I issue a decree to kill her, I won’t relinquish Chris as my loyal minister and my best friend. But if I don’t punish her, would my daughter be angry with me? She will be disappointed in me as well.
What should I do? Who should I side with? My loyal third-in-command or my adorable daughter?
