Chapter 555: Let’s Pretend We Don’t Know Each Other

At the end of the corridor, two women stood facing each other, an odd atmosphere spreading between them.
Callie finally lowered her head and spoke first. “Sienna, I’m sorry for ruining Marilyn’s birthday party that day.”
Sienna scrutinized her, unwilling to believe that this gentle woman was her daughter’s rival and Nelson’s wife.
“You surprised me,” she said coldly.
Callie nodded. “I was surprised too.”
Sienna stared at the string of prayer beads on Callie’s wrist, lost in thought.
“Nelson treats you well.”
“… Maybe,” Callie replied, unsure if it was true or not.
“I watched that child grow up. He’s cold by nature. If he treats you well, it’s genuine,” Sienna said bitterly. “I’m not surprised he married you.”
Ultimately, it was about her face. Callie understood and nodded. “I look somewhat like your missing daughter. Nelson and she were childhood sweethearts.”
After learning Sienna’s identity, Callie immediately guessed why she had retreated to the temple.
The person who couldn’t come back was Maevelyn.
Sienna smiled faintly. “I should thank you for that day. If you hadn’t saved Regan, Isaac might have caused a bigger scene, and the scandal for the Ellison family would have been significant.”
“Domestic violence is truly vile. Sienna, I want to ask you, even if they can’t divorce right away, can you keep them from seeing each other?”
Facing Callie’s earnest gaze, Sienna couldn’t refuse. “Once Regan’s injuries heal, I’ll arrange for her to leave Ylosea.”
Callie breathed a sigh of relief.
“In the future, we might run into each other in Ylosea. When that happens, let’s pretend we don’t know each other,” Sienna suddenly said.
Callie felt a chill in her heart and a bit of disappointment. After a moment, she nodded quickly. “From a mother’s perspective, it’s understandable.”
Sienna took another look at this woman. She liked her character and actions, but she was Marilyn’s mother and couldn’t reconcile both sides.
She took a deep breath, nodded, and walked past Callie to leave.
After a while, Callie composed herself and returned to Nelson’s side. He was watching Jaquan walk away.
Callie looked up at him and suddenly said, “Nelson, can you not make things difficult for Jaquan?”
Nelson thought he had misheard. “What did you say? I’m making things difficult for him?” He laughed. “It’s good enough he’s not making things difficult for me.”
Scott Group and Marilyn had teamed up to put Oconnor Group in a dire situation, and that scores hadn’t been settled yet.
“No matter what, you were the one who went too far first.”
Nelson stood still, calming his anger. He now understood that Callie had received Jaquan’s favor and wouldn’t side with him.
He forced a smile and took her hand. “What did she say to you?”
Callie didn’t want to tell him what she had gone through in the past two months.
Since she didn’t want to talk, Nelson didn’t ask further.
“What’s next?” he asked gently.
“… No plans.”
Nelson then led her outside. When they reached the car, she hesitated. Nelson frowned and threatened, “I still have injuries.”
She immediately got in.
Callie joked irritably, “You can be compared to those old men who fake injuries.”
Nelson smiled without restraint.
He took Callie back to the hotel but didn’t go upstairs. Instead, they sat in the tea lounge. “What do you want to drink?”
Callie remained silent.
