Chapter 57

MONALISA P. O. V

I observed as the three friends looked at Bobby in amazement, wondering if the things he said had come out of his mouth or if they had misheard him.

San stood up on his knees, his cheeks wet with tears. He furrowed his brow and shook his head, “You don’t mean what you just said, right?” He stated it with a broken voice, unable to believe Bobby would abandon him at the moment he needed him the most.

Bobby remained mute, not saying anything at all. However, after a few minutes, he spoke up: “I meant what I said. “I’m not helping anyone.” He stood steadfast in his words.

At first, I assumed they would fight for each other.
Because they were all accomplices in crimes. However, simply observing this demonstrates that they are not united. And based on my findings, I believe they all worked together to murder my family for their selfish reasons.

San gave out a sorrowful laugh, shaking his head in amazement. “Unbelievable!” He murmured more like a whisper.

Robert turned to me and tried to smile convincingly, “Please, my dear, can you wait outside for a moment?” He asked it because he sensed problems.

I nodded in agreement and proceeded to walk away to give them privacy to discuss the problem at hand.

I walked out and closed the door behind me, but I never left. I remained outside the closed door.

I stood outside the locked door, leaning down to see through the small opening.

I need to know their plans and future steps. After what seems like an eternity of silence from them, Bobby finally speaks out.

“Why should I help you?” He inquired, and then let out a loud dry chuckle, “You are all extremely influential and powerful.” You all have countless connections; why don’t you ask them to help you find your son?” “Must I always be the one to clear all your shits?” he exclaimed.

“But my son’s life is at stake right now.” San’s voice instantly softened as he sounded so desperate.

“I’m afraid I can’t help you,” Bobby stated while shaking his head.

“Your son has died. Move on. Tony patted San’s shoulder, uttering a mournful voice.

San quickly turned to face Tony, furrowing his brow, “My son is alive… he was just held hostage by my enemy.” He yelled, violently pushing Tony with his hand, and began to walk away, but when he reached the door, he paused and turned to face the others. “You all refused to help me, correct? I’ll gladly wait for your turn. Trust me, it will arrive too soon.” He spoke with tears in his eyes.

I was so engaged in the scene that I didn’t notice when he opened the door.

I stumbled into the room, catching the attention of everyone. Quickly regaining my composure, I faced their questioning looks.

“Have you been eavesdropping on our conversation? That’s not right,” Robert chided me gently.

I met his gaze and shook my head, “No, I wasn’t. I was just concerned about San and his son’s kidnapping.” I spoke quickly, trying to explain myself. “I would never eavesdrop on purpose.”

“That’s kind of you, but you should leave now,” San said coldly as he left the room.

Bobby smiled at me and said, “Nafia will show you to your room.” Suddenly, a young girl who looked almost my age entered the room and gestured for me to follow her.

Without hesitation, I followed her out of the room. She led me up the stairs and into a large guest room. I didn’t have time to admire the beauty of the room as I weakly slumped down on the bed.

“Why are you alone in here? Aren’t you scared of being killed by those monsters?” the servant girl asked nervously, her head bowed and her hands hidden behind her back.

I sat up on the bed, furrowing my brow in confusion. “What do you mean?” I asked.

She sighed softly. “I know I shouldn’t say this, but I can’t bear to see them kill another girl my age for the sixth time,” she said, her eyes shut and her body trembling with fear. “I’m sorry for saying that.” She quickly apologized.

I hurriedly approached her and placed my hand on her shoulder, asking softly, “What do you mean?” I tried to soothe her by smoothing her shoulder.

She slowly opened her eyes, her hazel gaze meeting mine. “This place is dangerous, you shouldn’t be here,” she warned, fear evident in her eyes.

I remembered Diane’s warning about the mansion being a butcher house and Derek’s attempts to dissuade me from coming here. However, I was determine
d to uncover the hidden secrets and not be afraid of the dangers.

Taking her hands, I said, “I’m here on a mission. It seems like you know something, and I need your help.” I pleaded with her.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and held my hands, “After midnight, I’ll show you a few secrets so you don’t meet the same fate as the last five.” She whispered before quickly leaving the room.

DEREK’S P. O. V

Jaxon looked at me with wide eyes, “I thought your mother died after childbirth,” he said, finally finding his voice after remembering what I had told him years ago.

I shook my head, exhaling heavily. “She was never dead. My father kept her confined in that dark building, forbidding me from going near her.”

Jaxon nodded, his brow furrowed. “Do you want to see her today? What about the assassins guarding her…” Before he could finish his sentence, I walked past him and through the gate, ignoring the guards.

As soon as they saw me, the guards raised their guns and shot at the ground in front of me, stopping me in my tracks. I raised my head slowly.

“Paulo, I’m not here to cause trouble. I just want to see her,” I shouted at their boss, showing him my empty hands.

“Remember the rules; take one step closer and I will shoot,” Paulo warned in a cold voice. I knew he wasn’t bluffing.

I sighed, my shoulders slumping. “I need to see her. I have so many unanswered questions. Please, Paulo, I won’t take up much of your time,” I pleaded helplessly.

“No!” he thundered.

“I offered to pay any price, Paulo. Please consider it.” I said, hoping he would accept.

“No amount of money can buy my loyalty,” he replied firmly, already irritated by my offer.

I stood there, pounding on how to convince Paulo, when Jaxon tapped my shoulder. I turned to look at him. “What?” I asked.

“We should go back. I don’t want you to get hurt,” he said, concern evident in his voice.

I chuckled dryly, shaking my head. “I’ve been running from this place my whole life. But not anymore. I will face them, even if it means risking my life,” I replied with determination.

“Please…”

Jaxon called out as I walked past him and continued into the building, ignoring the guns pointed at me. I knew Paulo wouldn’t harm me, as my father needed me to protect him from the girl seeking revenge.

With newfound confidence, I slowed my pace. Suddenly, I heard a loud command.

“Fire!”

I turned around to see bullets flying toward me, realizing it was the end…..
