Time passed quickly, and for months, Hannah dedicated herself to Alden’s recovery. She worked tirelessly at Texco, then accompanied Alden through his surgery, post-surgery, and therapy sessions. Hannah did all of this without complaint; in fact, she was enthusiastic about supporting Alden.
On the other hand, Alden, who found new hope, showed significant improvement. His attitude became much better, and he was very affectionate toward Hannah. To Alden, Hannah was a source of new strength every day.
People who saw their closeness felt it was a perfect love. Nothing could separate them.
Alden could now use a walking aid, though still with a slight limp. It was a rapid improvement since his surgery two months ago. Hannah was really proud of Alden’s determination. However, one thing was still bothering her: she hadn’t shown any signs of pregnancy.
Alden never brought it up, but Hannah often felt anxious about it.
“I’m going to Goldtime today,” Alden said during breakfast.
“Don’t you have an appointment with Dr. Irving and therapy?” Hannah, spreading jam on her bread, looked at Alden. “Please, don’t skip therapy, honey.”
“Dr. Irving said my therapy is next week. I just need to practice walking more. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Well, okay. I just don’t want you to be stubborn.” Hannah chuckled softly.
“How can I be naughty with a strict supervisor like you?”
“Oh, really?”
Alden suddenly cleared his throat. “Hey, would you consider buying a maid costume? You know, just for our kinky fun time,” he asked.
Hannah’s face turned red. Why discuss something so intimate at the breakfast table? This is too much, she thought.
“Whatever you want,” Hannah replied lightly.
“You don’t like it, do you?”
Hannah shook her head. “That’s not what I’m thinking about right now.”
“Then what? I’m almost fully recovered, the company is doing well. Goldtime is about to partner with a major company, and this will be a great opportunity for our future.”
Hannah felt it was hard to speak honestly.
“Nothing,” Hannah avoided.
“You’re hiding something from me again. Hannah, you can lied to me. What is going on?”
Hannah sighed. “I feel insecure, honey. I’m not pregnant yet. And I’m very afraid of disappointing you.”
Alden looked at Hannah in surprise. “How can you say that?”
“It’s natural, right? I’m a grown woman, married, and our goal is to build a family.”
Alden quickly pulled Hannah’s arm and hugged her tightly.
“I’m selfish, forgive me,” Alden whispered.
“What are you apologizing for?”
“My leg and work take up so much of your time. I even forgot what you want, what you feel. And I’m selfish.”
“It’s okay. I’m happy you’re recovering.”
“Don’t worry about pregnancy, okay? If you’re not pregnant yet, it doesn’t mean you can’t give me a child. You’re just too tired.”
Hannah nodded and quickly wiped her tears.
“Now, finish your breakfast. We have to get to the office.”
“Aye-aye, Captain.”
*
Alden entered the Goldtime building and was immediately greeted by security and employees. The company was one of the legacies from Maxim, which was nearly bankrupt before, but started to grow and progress thanks to Alden’s efforts.
Today, Alden would meet with one of the owners of a major company, Giantic. The company was run by a billionaire, with several other directors involved. It was a big opportunity for Alden; if Goldtime could partner with Giantic, Goldtime’s position would rise significantly.
Alden entered the meeting room as the representative directors from Giantic had arrived. They made small talk for a while before getting to the main discussion.
It turned out Giantic was eager to partner with Goldtime, and they had already prepared their cooperation documents.
When Alden was about to sign the cooperation agreement, he was shocked to see one of the director’s names from Giantic: Kenneth Young.
Alden felt dizzy, and memories of Sarah haunted him.
Kenneth was Sarah’s brother, and Alden knew him well. However, after the accident, Kenneth and Sarah distanced themselves and disappeared.
“Is there a problem, sir?” asked the Giantic representative.
Alden shook his head and signed the agreement.
He hoped there wouldn’t be any problems in the future. This was purely business. If Alden met Kenneth later, their relationship would remain strictly professional.
After finalizing the cooperation contract, Alden left the office. He initially planned to go to Texco to discuss this with Hannah, but decided against it. Alden thought it would be better to keep this matter to himself for now.
Hannah was already feeling down about not being pregnant yet. Bringing up Kenneth, who was connected to Sarah, might make Hannah feel worse.
It might be better to take Hannah on a vacation for a few days to relax.
In the car, Alden called Edward.
“Yes, sir?” Edward answered.
“Edward, book two tickets to Greece for Hannah and me. Also, check for any available private jets. And book a hotel for us for four or five days. Arrange for a car and driver as well.”
“Is there a business trip to Greece, sir?”
“No, it’s a honeymoon.”
“Understood, sir.”
“Thank you, Edward.”
After ending the call, Alden immediately called Hannah.
“Hello, honey?” Alden greeted.
“Yes, honey? Anything I can do, for my charming husband.”
Alden chukled. “Can you leave the office now? Tell Susan that Bernard will handle things for the next four or five days.”
There was a moment of silence, and Hannah didn’t say a word.
“What’s going on?” Hannah asked.
“We haven’t had a honeymoon since we got married. I’ve booked tickets for today. Or would you prefer a private jet? So we can get there faster.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Hannah can stand to laughed.
Alden laughed happily. “Well, I am. So, leave the office now. And that’s an order, ma’am!”
“Alright. I’ll head home right away.”
Alden couldn’t stop smiling because he felt so happy. He looked out the window at the tall buildings they passed. Hopefully, Hannah would feel much better after their trip.
Because all Alden cared about now was Hannah’s happiness.
