DOMINIC.
TWO DAYS AGO
“What are you doing?” my mother’s voice calls from behind me and I have to literally force myself not to growl at her.
“Did you hear me?” She asks as she walks up to me. “I said what the hell are you doing?!”
Goddess help me, I am going to kill someone.
“Dominic!”
“What does it look like I am doing?!” I snap as I whirl around to face her.
“It looks to me like you are making a fool out of yourself!” She snaps. “Are you seriously going there again? Has the insult not been enough for you.”
“I am an alpha -”
“And they don’t care! And stop saying that, it is embarrassing. Anyone who has to continually repeat his social standing clearly has no confidence in himself!”
“How da- I am her mate!”
“Correction… was her mate. And from the looks of it, she had clearly moved on and has no regard for you. Are you not ashamed of yourself? Don’t you have any sense of pride?! Chasing after a woman that you had rejected. A woman who wants nothing to do with you.”
“She does not get to decide that! I do! I am her mate. Her alpha! SHE IS MINE!”
“She is not yours!” she snaps back. “She is the woman you road and then tried to kill. How can you honestly think she would want anything to do with you?! ARE YOU RETARDED?”
“You-!’
“I warned you, didn’t I? I told you to focus on healing and fixing this pack. That I would take it from you if you failed. And not only have you failed, but you have made the Obsidian pack a laughing stock of the whole werewolf community. An alpha who is been humiliated by rogues! You are an embarrassment to me, your father, and everyone who came before us. I should have killed you at birth!”
“ENOUGH!”
The rage surges through me, clouding my vision until everything is stark white and my ears ring with a high pitched sound.
By the time I come back around, the walls of the training room are stained red, and my mother’s headless body crumbled to the floor at my feet.
Her head nowhere to be found.
It takes a minute -a long minute- for me to understand what has happened and then the screams follow.
Not from me.
But from outside.
Loud, terrified, and horrified screams.
“He did it again!”
“It is the Luna mother!”
“He killed the Luna mother!”
“We are doomed!”
On and on, the screams go and I do nothing but just stand there.
How do they even know what happened?
Her body is here and there is no one in the space with me, so how-
The door bursts open and I see Calvin rushing in with her head.
Oh.
I see.
It must flown out.
Well, damn
“Alpha-”
“Clean this up,” I tell him as I walk past him. “Meet me in my study once you are done.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk into my study after a long shower to wash off the blood
Honestly, it is like the new norm for me
To get myself stained with blood at least once a day.
Calvin is already there, waiting for me.
“Where did you bury her?” I ask as I take my seat.
“Her body is in the morgue. It is safe.”
“I told you to clean it up, not keep it safe.”
“She is the Luna mother, alpha. She has to be buried with the previous alpha.”
I scoff as I look away.
“Fine. And the people who saw it?” I ask.
“They have been warned to keep quiet,” he says.
“You think that is the best way to handle them?”
“Handle them?”
“Kill them, keep them quiet, clean them up, anyhow you want to do it for better understanding.”
“They won’t say anything, alpha. And we can’t just kill them… they are your pack members-”
“Bla bla bla, whatever. What did you want?”
“Sorry?”
“Why are you here? In my study?”
“You… you told me to meet you here,” he says with a confused look.
“I did?” I am asking surprise before I then remember. “Right, right. I did. I have an assignment for you.”
“Yes, alpha.”
“I am sending you on a stealth mission. Take thirty of our warriors and infiltrate the coalition for me.”
“The Winter Wolf Coalition?” He asks
“Do you know of any other?” I sneer at him
“Sorry. I am listening.”
“You will go in there and get me, Louisa. Alive. This disrespect had gone on long enough. They must be taught a lesson. Anyone who gets in your way, kill them.”
“But no one has managed to… yes, alpha,” he finishes at my scowl
“Good.”
“It is just…”
“What?!” I snap, already done with this conversation. It is just what? What is it now?!”
“It is just… I hear that Rowan – that Louisa is still staying at the Vale pack.”
“What?!”
“That is the report I got from some of the passing rumors
That bitch.
That rotten whore.
What the hell is she still doing with him?!
Does she have no respect or regard for herself? Or for me?
“How long have you known this?!” I demand. “How can you let me make a fool of myself going to the settlement all this time?”
“I didn’t know as well. And I just found out today. I was on my way to tell you when I found… when… the Luna mother…”
“Got it,” I mutter as I get to my feet and make my way to the door. “Come on, let’s go get my mate.”
“Alpha!” He calls. “If I may?”
“May what??!”
“I don’t think Viktor would even open the gates for you, let alone let you see her. Would it not be better if I go there on behalf of you. That way, we can… avoid a repeat of what happened last time.”
I turn around to look at him, my eyes narrowing in suspicion.
“You want to go to the Vale pack? Alone?”
“I want to go to the Vale pack, for you,” he says. “That way, even if he doesn’t open the gates, the disrespect would be to me and not you.”
“Hmm. Fair point. Bring her home.”
