ROWAN
Unfortunately for Luna Kaylee, we were not able to leave immediately.
We still had to wait for the other wolves to arrive and she had to get back into her car, to drive into the territory, some of them including our favorite three.
Sven had given us an exasperated glance as his car drove in and I couldn’t help but chuckle at him.
And while the convoys drove in, I and Viktor followed at a more sedate pace.
“I want him dead today,” I tell him. “There can be no leniency or mercy. I want him dead.”
“And you will have it,” he says as he takes my hand in his. “And I believe you are right.”
“About what?”
“About the wolf being a trusted person of Dominic,” he replies. “Look at how frantic and desperate he is. He must have a lot of secrets about Dominic in that head of his. Do you think he will tell us if we torture him some more?”
“Nah. He is too loyal to do that. He would rather die.”
“Yeah, you are probably right. Wait- what if we get Dominic to turn on him? The betrayal. might get him to talk.”
“That feels risky,” I say. “People will know why you are doing and remember, we want them to come to the conclusion themselves that Dominic has to go. And if we try to show discord, especially with so many people watching, it might backfire. No, the safest way to hurt Dominic now, is to confirm Tommy’s guilt and kill him.
“Not only will that weaken him in the eyes of the alphas and make them wary of him, but it will also cause a lack of trust among his subordinates. He can’t protect them. He can’t even protect himself.”
“Hmm, chaos within and chaos outside. It will cause him to lash out, make a mistake.”
“Exactly.”
“Very well, then,” he says with a destined air. “Let us go kill a wolf.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“All right, we are all here. Where is my alpha?” Kaylee demands.
“He is at the pack clinic,” Viktor says. “His… injuries were extensive, so he had to remain there for close observation.”
‘Oh, goddess. Take me to him,” she begs. “Please.”
“It is this way,” he says and begins leading them to the clinic.
From the corner of my eye, I see Dominic hesitating, his eyes wandering around the vicinity as if he is thinking of breaking away from the crowd.
Not a chance, you asshole.
“Is there a problem, aloha Dominic?” I call out to him, effectively getting the attention of all the other wolves who turn to see him falling behind.
He glares at me before answering.
“No. There is no problem,* he grits out as he hurries to catch up.
We all make our way to the clinic and are led towards his room, which Viktor had thankfully changed.
The room is cozy and warm, a stark contrast to the previous room he was in.
The walls are painted in a calming light gray hue, while the floor is covered in easy-to-clean vinyl, and in the center of the room sits a queen-sized bed with a sturdy metal frame and crisp white linens with Donald asleep in it.
An armchair and a small wooden desk with a chair are placed in one corner, and across from the bed is a flat-screen TV hanging on the wall for entertainment.
The attached bathroom is tidy and practical, with a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet.
Although the amenities are standard hospital fare, the towels are plush, and the soap and shampoo are of high quality.
Essential medical equipment like a vital signs monitor and an IV pole are discreetly placed in the room, without overwhelming the space. Additionally, a mini-fridge and a coffee maker are provided, stocked with water, juice, and snacks.
“Donald!” Kaylee shouts as she rushes to his side, nearly sprawling Over him and cradling his face in her hands. “Oh, my goddess. What happened to you?!”
Her face is flooded with tears as she stares down at her mate’s face and it actually hits me then, she must have grieved for him all these weeks.
Accepting the fact that he was dead.
Her relief is understandable.
And her rage would be very welcomed when she hears what Tommy tried to do to him.
“Where have you been?” Kaylee continues. “Why didn’t you reach out to us all this while? Do you have any idea how heartbroken and grieved I have been all these weeks?”
“I am so, sorry Kaylee,” he says as he gently wipes her tears away and I can clearly see the love and affection those two share.
He might be a weak man but it is clear that his love for her is his only strength.
I can respect that
“I was coming back to you,” he continues. “I was. But…” he trails off as his eyes finally catch sight of the crowd gathered in the room
“But what?” She asks and looks behind her to see what has caught his attention
“I… I want able to,” he finishes
“Able to? You weren’t able to return home? Why?!”
“I… I…”
“You can take your time, alpha Donald,” Maxwell tells him. “I am sure nine of us can begin to understand the hell that you have been through. We can wait,” he offers.
“No,” Alpha Donald responds with a surprising show of force and I look back at him to see him frown at the tears in Kaylee’s face. “I can speak.”
Oh, okay.
This is just getting good.
“Very well then,” Maxwell says. “What kept you away all this time.”
“I would have been able to make it home if not for the fact that some wolf kidnapped me and was taking me back to his alpha as some trophy,” he answers.
As expected the response from the alphas is rage and shock.
“What?!”
“That can’t be?!”
“Kidnapped an alpha?”
That one seemed to be more mocking than concerned, but who cares?
“Who?” Kaylee’s cold voice cuts through the mummering. “Which alpha would dare do that?!”
Donald looks towards us and I turn to look at Dominic who has gone deathly pale.
“Who is it, Donald?” She demands again.
“Him,* he says pointing towards the crowd. “Dominic.”
