“So, how did it go?” Andre asks the moment I get out of the car.
I am beyond exhausted.
What I thought would take only an hour, a couple tops, took the whole bloody day.
I can’t blame them though.
I am asking there to put away their preconceived notions and support a bunch of wolves.
“It was exhausting,” I mutter as I get in. “They wanted to know everything. Everything about the coalition.”
“Did you tell them?”
“Of course, not,” I mutter as I head in to the mansion. “One of them might get into their head and try to use that information against them. I just told them the bare basics. The rogues want nothing from the packs expect to be left in peace. And as long as that happens, they have nothing to fear.”
“Did they believe you?”
“Most of them did. Just two has reservations but they will go along with the others so as not to be the odd ones out.”
“That is good. Good,” he murmurs as we walk into my bedroom and take a seat on the bed.
“What about you?” I ask a SI begin undressing. “Any problems here?”
“None. Well, some of the wolves didn’t understand why you were protecting wolves and I explained that you found them trustworthy. Everyone trusts you anyways, so there is no problem from our pack.”
“And the other alphas? Have they reached out to you?”
“Alpha Fin called earlier. He said you should be available for the conference call by tomorrow morning.’
“That is good, tomorrow is good,” I whisper as I fall back on the bed.
“Aren’t you going to shower before sleeping?” he asks as he looks down on me.
“Nope, too tired.”
“What about dinner?”
“Too tired.”
“For food?”
“I already ate in the company, Andre. Please go away.”
“Fine, whatever,” he says as he heads towards the door. “Good night.”
“Hmn.”
I am out of it before the door closes shut.
“I thought you said the conference call was by eight?” I growl at Andre as he tries to set up the computer.
“It is!”
“Then why didn’t you set this up before now?!”
“I did!”
“Then what the fuck is happening right now?!”
“I don’t know! I don’t get computers, they are exhausting and I swear they have a mid of their own. Oh, look it is on,” he says as he turns the screen towards me.
“Took you long enough,” I mutter at him before tapping the join button.
“Well, you took your sweet time, didn’t you, Viktor?” Sven’s snarky voice greets my ears as soon as their faces pop up.
“Sven,” I say with a grimace. “Always a torture to see your ugly face.”
“Good. I delight in your pain.”
“You two are like kids, I swear,” Fin scoffs with a shake of his head.
“He started it!”
“He insulted me first!” We both send a glare at each other while Maxwell’s chuckle sound in the background.
“I have to say, I haven’t missed you two bickering,” he comments.
“Well, I haven’t missed him either,” Sven retorts
“Who would ever miss you?”
“You-!”
“Enough, you two. I didn’t call you here for this. Viktor, how did your meeting with the alphas go?”
“As well as it could. They will stand with me. You?”
“As will mine as well as these two.”
“Good. Between four of us, that will be thirty sick out of forty eight packs. I like our chances.”
“They are very good chances.”
“I don’t know,” Fin says. Those twelve packs, including Dominic’s can cause problems. What if those packs still refuse to listen to reason at the council and choose to go fight the coalition. Are we really going to fight our own people?”
“I am hoping it doesn’t come to that,” Maxwell answers.
“Bur what if it does? We haven’t actually discussed that. We have all been planning towards disbanding them but what if we can’t? This would be war.”
“Not if we stop it in it’s tracks,” I say.
“You are not understanding me-”
“I know what you mean, Fin,” I say. “And I am answering you. We stop it in it’s tracks by taking the head of the leader.”
“You just want to kill Dominic,” Sven says.
“Don’t you?” I ask in return.
“It won’t be that easy as you think it would be,” Maxell says.
“I know. But I am willing and more than ready to take him on.”
“Yeah,” Fin mutters. “We know. We were there. Anyways, do we agree? If they cannot be swayed by reason, then we kill Dominic.”
“Actually, you mean we will help deliver Dominic into Rowan’s hand so that she can kill him,” Sven rephrases it.
“Yeah, that is what I meant.”
“I am okay with that,” Maxwell says.
“As am I,” I add
The other two nods their head in agreement and we move in to the next agenda.
“So, the conference is three days from now, right?'” I ask for confirmation
“Hmm. The sooner we have it, the sooner we can stop this shit and have peace.”
“I doubt we will have peace even if we succeed,” Sven says. “Dominic doesn’t strike me as the type of person to just give up.”
“We will work in isolating him from the other packs, show them what he really is and then when he is alone and vulnerable, his pack weakened by his cruel and archaic practice, we I’ll take him out.”
“In that case and since we are all agreed, let’s send out the invitations. Conference meeting at The Vale Pack,” Maxwell concludes.
“Should we send one to Dominic?” Sven asks.
“Of course,” he answers. “He should defend his call for war just as we defend ours for peace.”
“I don’t know why you have to invite him too,” Andre mutters as we both watch as the trainee wolves go through their forms. He is the reason we are going though all this stress in the first place.”.
“Think about it, Andre,” I tell him. “If he isn’t there, he can try and paint another picture. This way we can call him out publicly, what right does he have to start a warm, when those affected haven’t even begun one.”
“You have a point, I guess. Man, I just hate the fact that we are going to have to welcome him again. He is definitely going to bring up the fact that you kicked him out the last time.”
“I doubt that.”
“Hmm? Why?”
“If he did, then I will have to say why that happened, and that led to the fight and I am pretty sure he would r want to repeat the callous words he said that day, not when I have witnesses to back me up.”
“Okay, another good point. I guess, now we just wait.”
“Hmm. Has Rowan’s room been prepared?” I ask.
“Yes, and according to your specifications. All rustic elegance, and next to your room.”
“And Jhnelle’s ?”
“Right next to the Luna’s.”
“Good.”
“She confirmed her numbers and they have all been allocated rooms on the third floor of the mansion,” he adds.
That floor is reserved for close friend and family.
It will be a much safer place for the rogues to stay in the halls of residence
“That is smart, thank you, Andre.”
“Fin mention it. We all have a stake in this. If the Coalition and it’s members are safe, then the Luna can stay here without fear or worry.”
“You are really focused on her, aren’t you?” I ask.
“With the Luna here, the pack will finally be complete. You will be whole. And from what I have observed, she is one bad ass lady. She will be an asset to the pack.”
“That is my mate you are talking about, not some product. I want her just because she is. It doesn’t matter what she has done or not fo6ne or what she has accomplished. She is perfect just the way she is.”
“Man, you are whipped,” he mutters as he moves to walk away
“What did you say?” I demand as I reach for him which he quickly evades.
“I said you are whipped, like a sucker. You are so I love, it is icky.”
“Come,” I say as I walk towards him but he just cackles as he moves farther away making me chase after him. “Come here you little shit!”
Just as I am about to catch him, a wolf runs up to us, breathless.
“Alpha!”
“Yes, what is it?”
“There are rogues by the gates. They said you are expecting them.”
“Rogues?” I ask with a thrill if excitement going through me.
“Yes.”
“Did they give a name.”
“Rowan.”
