Chapter 89
Angelo sat on his study room couch where Elena had left him, saying she’d be back soon, and watched the door quietly. He was worried without even knowing the source of his worry. He knew something was off with Elena but couldn’t just place his finger on what exactly it was.
“Hey!” Her voice suddenly brought him out of his thoughts and he wondered how long he had been out for.
“What’s towing over your mind from thinking about me?” She asked as she stood by the door, one hand on it and the other on her waist. Angelo couldn’t help but notice that she had worn a nightie cover all over the lingerie she had left with.
“It’s still you. I’m just worried about you. One minute, you were on the hospital bed, and the next, you were standing by my door looking all sexy and attractive.” Angelo said as he readjusted himself on the large couch he sat on which Elena smiled weirdly and began walking towards me.
“I’m fine. Trust me. You shouldn’t worry about me when I’m strong and hearty in front of you.” She said and ended up on his lap while Angelo nodded and allowed her to cradle his face in her palms.
“Okay? If you say so.” He said in defeat and sighed.
” That’s my baby.” She picked him on the cheeks.
” Aren’t you hungry? You’ve barely had anything since morning according to the maid.” Angelo said after a moment.
” Oh, that? No wonder I feel so hungry. Let’s eat out, then.” She suggested.
She had finally found a way to leave the house with Angelo; she was uncomfortable because Dominic kept his eyes on her and kept watching her like a hawk would its prey. She couldn’t understand why Elena was having an affair with her lover’s assistant making her work here more complicated.
“Why out when we could just tell the maids what we want to eat.” Angelo queried and she pouted in a very seductive way.
“I just want to breathe fresh air. I’ve been in the hospital for a while day. I feel like… You know what I mean.” She coaxed and eventually Angelo agreed. He would do anything for his woman.
“Okay. If that’s what you want. Go ahead and prepare for it. I’m with you.” He said, and she smiled and stood up from his lap.
“That’s why I love you.” She said and pecked him on the lips this time as she strolled out of the room making sure his eyes were focused on the large ass she shook confidently for him.
When she was out of the room, Angelo heaved a sigh of relief. For the first time in his time with Elena, he actually felt choked up by her presence. He hoped this was just the effect of the drugs, and they would wear off with time.
When she got to Elena’s room, she went through her dresses and finally found one that suited her taste. She couldn’t understand why the young lady would have a lot of weird and unattractive dresses. When she finally found her taste, she laid them on the bed and went into the bathroom for a quick bath.
By the time she was done dressing up and strolled out of the room, Angelo was already waiting for her by the door.
“Are we good?” He asked and she nodded.
“Of course.” She smiled seductively at him.
She could feel Dominic’s eyes on her as she slipped into the car. Where he was standing to watch her was one thing she didn’t want to find out but she knew that his gaze was on her right from when she stepped out of the house.
Angelo then led her to the car and opened the passenger seat for her. Meanwhile, Dominic stood upstairs staring at the couple in confusion. His eyes were mainly on Elena and wondering what had come over her. He knew there was definitely something wrong; if his boss was blinded by love, he wasn’t and knew very well that something was wrong, and he would find out what that was.
When they got to the restaurant, they both ordered their meals. Angelo watched as Elena ate her meal excitedly.
She kept keeping up with conversations and didn’t allow him to have a single moment of silence as she kept talking about nothing and everything.
He was suspicious of the way she talked nonstop, as well as the way she ate her food, but he just assumed it was the drugs that were affecting her, or better still, it could be the drip or bag of blood that was infused into it. The shock of being shot could even be another reason for all this. So, he waved it aside and the email came to a good end.
Their dinner was over in a couple of minutes, and together they walked out of the restaurant and walked over to the car, but just as Angelo was about to enter the car, his phone beeped, and he received a message from an unknown sender. He felt like he had been waiting for this beep for a long time as if the message that came with it would give him solutions to the weird feelings he was having.
“I think I have a business to attend to. Go back home the guard will drop you off.” He told Elena who stood pouting and looking at him.
“What business? Will you tell me about it?” She asked and Angelo raised his eyebrows at her in a way that asked, ‘Really?’
“Okay, but I could come with you, and what for you,” she argued, but Angelo nodded no.” It’s late, and you need to rest. Go into the car. He’ll drop you off.” He said and told one of the guards to drive her back home while he stayed behind.
Immediately, the car began to kick start; he stepped away from it and played the video that was sent to his phone.
It was a video of Elena and Dominic making out in a pool; he could see them kissing and romancing each other as they made out right there in his pool. Angelo’s heart sank, and he could feel anger building up in him; he was furious and couldn’t understand why Elena would do this to him after everything he had given to her and given up for her.
Despite his anger, he decided not to act impulsively, and instead, he thought about the sender of this message. Who was the person who sent the tape to him, and what was the motive behind it?
He watched as the car that carried Elena drove away from him. At the same time, he dialed the number of the sender of this message.
Then he turned away from the car because of the pain in his heart when he thought of what he had just seen in that video. Immediately, he turned away. The call began to ring, and he suddenly heard an explosion behind him.
Angelo turned impulsively and watched in dread as the car he was watching just a few seconds ago, which had Elena and one of his guards in it, exploded before his face.
At first, he stood in shock, his eyes widening in horror as he watched for the first five seconds, and the phone he was holding slipped out of his hands. In the next second, he was running towards the flames.
His men held him back, but he struggled with them and refused to listen to the warning they gave to him about how dangerous it would be to go near the explosion.
Their voices were like incomprehensible sounds in his ear, and he felt a drop of tears run down his eyes.
“Release me! Get the fuck out of my way!” He yelled at them and tried to free himself from their grip but they refused to let him go.
Just then, the car exploded again, and Angelo’s yell echoed through the night.
“Elena!”
