Elena could hardly breathe as she felt like her lungs were on fire. The excruciating pain in her abdomen was not relenting as well, even as she clutched it in pain.
She could not understand what was happening to her. But as Dominic’s question echoed through the kitchen, she realized something was wrong at the moment.
“What.. what is.. h happening?”
She was gasping for air as she sat on the chair, the meal long forgotten.
Dominic, on the other hand, was perturbed. He had left the site where he was with Angelo for a different case, and the moment he was done, he went to the mansion.
For some reason, he had been quite restless for a few days now, always on the edge.
More often than not, he always seemed to catch himself staring too long after his Boss’s girl.
He knew he shouldn’t, but he just could not shake the unease that had been settling on him for a while now.
And now, as he stood with her in his arms, her cries filled the kitchen as she cried in pain. He was pissed.
So pissed he didn’t know where to start.
As he glanced at the meal on the table she was just eating, his brows furrowed in a tight frown.
And that exact moment, he knew what had happened. But how it had happened still baffled him.
In a blind decision, he quickly hoisted her up from the chair as he began to make his way out of the kitchen.
His heart beat erratically in his rib cage as he kept glancing down at her every second.
The door was opened before he could even touch it, and Eva stood there with a shocked look on her face.
“What the hell?”
“I think she has been poisoned. I need to take her to the hospital,” Dominic explained frantically as he walked past her and towards the exit door.
Eva stood gobsmacked at the entrance of the kitchen door like she was in a daze.
Her fists clenched together and in an instant, she was running towards Dominic, “Wait! Wait up! ”
Dominic heard her but paid her no mind. He kept staring at Elena who was almost unconscious at this point.
“Who did this to you? Who?” He kept asking as he made his way to the car.
He quickly opened the back door and placed her carefully on the seat before rushing to the other side to drive.
A panting Eva suddenly appeared at the car, “I am coming with you.”
This caused Dominic to pause in his tracks. He stared at her and a frown appeared on his face, “I am sorry but…”
“No buts. I am coming with you whether you like it or not.”
Dominic hesitated for a moment. He knew how dangerous it was for her to go with him. They had been given strict instructions to make sure she was safe within the walls of the mansion alone.
He glanced at a few guards who were positioned at the front of the house, and they quickly made their way forward.
“Your father has given strict instructions to not let you out of these walls. Angelo is not at home now, and the best thing you could do for us all is to remain here please.”
He tore his gaze from her and motioned to the guards, “Take her in.”
Just as she turned to see the guards approaching her, Dominic got into the car and drove off at a magnifying speed.
She snapped her head back, watching as the car disappeared down the road and finally out the gates.
The guards approached her, “We shall escort you in, miss.”
“Keep your hands to yourself you freaks.” She lashed out at them, with gritted teeth as she felt frustration bubble within her.
She had done it. But this wasn’t how she had planned it to happen. This was not the plan at all.
Angelo had informed her that he would not be coming home until much much later at night, and she had assumed that his bodyguard Dominic would be with him as usual.
She was not expecting him to suddenly show up, just at the exact time she was about to carry out the plan.
She has only met Elena that very day and she bore a deep hatred towards her. The reason was that Eva had loved Angelo ever since he was brought to their home years ago.
She had loved every moment he had taken care of her like she was the only thing that mattered.
During those times, the two were inseparable. With Angelo acting rather protective of her. He made her his top priority and treated her like the sister he never had.
But unfortunately, Eva had to develop feelings for him.
She loved him more than she could imagine. See him more than he could ever see her. And hated the fact that she was not able to be with him as much as she wanted to.
But he reason she was quite skeptical about Elena was because she had heard a lot about her. Her source, who always informed her about Angelos’s deeds didn’t fail to let her know that he had found a liking to a particular girl.
She has cajoled her father to let her come with Angelo to Peru against all odds.
And the old man finally agreed. With strict warning to his guards and Angelo to take better care of her.
This was the moment she had to get rid of the girl.
This was the moment she had to orchestrate her plan to the fullest. But then, Dominic had to thwart it all.
She knew she had to find her way out of this mansion as soon as possible before she got found out. She needed to get to that hospital and finish off what she had already started.
With a sinister thought in mind, she made her way to her room.
A few minutes later, she was screaming her lungs out in sheer pain and turmoil.
This got the guards to race their way to her room in seconds.
The room was locked from the inside. And Eva was in no position to open the door for them.
Few minutes of banging and her consistent cries of pain, they kicked the door open and broke it down.
The scene in front of them made their eyes widen in sheer horror.
“Get the car. Immediately!” One of them screamed out, while he quickly rushed to take her in his arms, hoisting her up from the floor.
Her blood smeared all over the place as they became more frantic and scared.
“She needs to be taken to the hospital. Quick, or the Don would have our heads!”
