Chapter 109: Revenge Is Inevitable

The strong explosion and billowing smoke caused the police to instinctively take cover, not daring to rush in recklessly, but tightly gripping their firearms in vigilance.
No one could guarantee that there weren’t powerful explosives inside.
Judith watched the thick smoke billowing from the windows and looked at the bodies shot by the police at the entrance. She angrily pounded the ground a few times.
While her companions believed that Samson’s desperate attack was a last-ditch effort, Judith felt that things were not as simple as they appeared.
Although the gunman behind the crowd had only fired a dozen shots just now, Judith was able to make a judgment. The person who fired the shots was courageous, of high quality, and extremely accurate in marksmanship.
Such a person should be a cold and wise killing machine. Why would he shoot at the police regardless of the situation and let Samson escape?
They wanted Samson dead!
“Captain Meech, thirteen men are lightly injured, no deaths.”
At that moment, Officer Craig, who had been following Judith, ran over and shouted beside her, “All of their bullets hit their bulletproof vests.”
“No deaths? All bullets hit their bulletproof vests?”
Hearing Craig’s words, Judith widened her eyes slightly. This completely confirmed her conjecture. The gunman never intended to kill the police.
Attacking the police was just a means to use them to kill Samson and his group!
“Bastard!”
Although Samson’s gang was not a good group of people, Judith was furious at the thought of the police being used by the gunman. She swept away the dissipating smoke and rushed towards the warehouse with her gun in hand. Craig and other officers were startled and shouted in unison, “Captain Meech, it’s dangerous! Come back here!”
“Too dangerous!”
Judith ignored them and charged into the thick smoke with great momentum. She knew that if she didn’t act quickly, the other side might take advantage of the chaos and escape.
The other officers saw Judith’s disregard for danger and had no choice but to surround the warehouse with their firearms. Several officers quickly approached Judith.
Kaff kaff!
Judith quickly rushed into the warehouse and saw only a burning police car and oxygen cylinders. She ordered someone to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and opened the doors and windows to dissipate the smoke, making her vision clearer. Then she saw several charred bodies, weapons, and a pool of blood on the ground.
There was no doubt that there had been a fierce battle here, but that wasn’t the most important thing. What she wanted to find was the person who had fired the shots. She believed that he was still alive.
“Inspect every body on the ground. We can’t let any culprits slip away.”
“Assign special forces to guard the entrance and exits and verify every officer who leaves.”
“We absolutely cannot let any culprits escape disguised as police officers!”
Judith issued three instructions in quick succession before locking her sharp gaze on the back door entrance. She rushed over and saw many bloodstains.
She called for reinforcements and police dogs and was about to follow the bloodstains when she saw several stones placed in front with blood writing on them.
“Be careful of landmines on this path!”
The pursuit team immediately slowed down their pace. After all, no one dared to take unnecessary risks after the previous explosion.
By the time bomb disposal experts confirmed that it was just a bluff with those stones, an hour and a half had passed since the explosion of the police car.
Judith kicked away one of the stones, missing an opportunity to catch their opponent off guard.
The officers and police dogs quickly returned from the riverbank. There was no sign of anyone in the Whiteville River. They had obviously escaped long ago. However, something seemed strange. There were many bloodstains on the ground, indicating that the culprit had been seriously injured. Jumping into the river with such severe injuries was undoubtedly a death wish. They would likely drown before reaching halfway due to exhaustion.
“Bastard, I will catch you sooner or later.”
Judith’s face was resolute.
The next morning at 9 o’clock at Hilton Hotel, on the top floor’s presidential suite, sunlight shone brightly with a warm breeze accompanying it.
Darnell wrapped up a box of silver needles and surgical knives before throwing them into a medical waste bin. He then took a deep breath, feeling exhausted.
After escaping from Genesis House, Darnell didn’t take himself or his injured companions to a hospital. Going there would be like walking into a trap.
But Darnell didn’t immediately return to Woodsea either. Instead, he spent a large sum of money on renting this luxurious hotel suite for his companions.
He chose this hotel suite because of its privacy and security.
Although Cesar and Harry survived after their battle in the warehouse, their injuries were severe with significant blood loss. Darnell could only treat them tirelessly.
He bought medications and equipment and then treated their wounds himself. He managed to bring back Cesar and Harry from death’s door despite their serious injuries.
Looking at his four companions lying weakly on beds, Darnell administered antibiotics and glucose solution to them.
He also changed into new clothes. While cleaning up, he put Samson’s bag of heroin into his pocket.
After dealing with everything, more than twenty hours had passed.
Then Darnell picked up a bottle of soda water and replenished his energy that had been depleted for over twenty-four hours.
“Boss, thank you!”
Cesar woke up after sleeping for a while and felt some strength returning to his body. He looked at Darnell, who appeared exhausted and said with gratitude, “From today onwards, you are not only my boss but also my benefactor. My life is all thanks to you.”
Harry and others also struggled to speak, “We belong to you in life or death.”
“Damn it! It seems like you guys won’t leave me alone?”
Darnell drank most of his soda water before picking up a sandwich. He was famished.
“I don’t know what wrong I did in my past life that I have encountered you four troublemakers in this life. Not only do you eat my food and drink my drinks but also make me risk my life to save you all. And now I have spent over ten thousand dollars renting this room.”
What made him even more annoyed was that he had to ask for a day off from Areli. Thinking about losing out on his three hundred dollar perfect attendance bonus made him feel a bit resentful.
Cesar smiled, revealing his two gold teeth. “Boss, your kindness cannot be repaid. We can only offer ourselves.”
Harry and others nodded in agreement. “We’re at your service, boss.”
“Get lost!”
Darnell quickly finished his sandwich. “Who asked you guys to offer yourselves? The farther you stay away from me, the better repayment it is.”
Cesar shook his head. “This won’t do. We must repay your kindness. We are loyal to you now.”
Darnell smiled bitterly, “I really have no way with you guys. Alright, enough nonsense. Your injuries are severe, but after my treatment, you are out of danger.”
“But it will take at least a month for you all to fully recover. During this time, stay here peacefully in this suite. Don’t leave under any circumstances.”
“You have enough food and clean water to last for a month. I have also instructed the hotel staff not to disturb you.”
He looked at Cesar again. “Also, until your injuries heal completely, absolutely do not think about seeking revenge.”
“I know that many of your brothers died. I understand how difficult it is for you all.”
“But now is not the time for revenge. You must not act rashly. Otherwise, it would be disrespectful towards me risking my life today.”
“If anything happens, you can call me. If I have time, I will come over.”
Harry and others remained silent with a touch of sadness in their eyes as they thought about their fallen comrades.
“Understood. We will stay here.”
Cesar exhaled deeply. “We won’t leave without your orders.”
Then he furrowed his brows, adding, “But boss, you should also be careful.”
“Steve could locate us, but he might also find you or Miss Lennard. You must be cautious, boss.”
Darnell narrowed his eyes slightly and said with a cold tone, “Rest assured. After today’s battle, Steve will definitely face consequences from law enforcement. He will be too busy dealing with that for now, so he won’t have time to bother me.”
“If he dares provoke me by disregarding his own life or target Bailee, I will go directly after him.”
As he said these words, he already had plans in mind.
Cesar breathed a sigh of relief. “As long as you have confidence, boss.”
He never doubted Darnell’s abilities. Steve stood no chance against someone who could handle more than fifty strong men effortlessly while kicking Samson away like Darnell.
“Take care of yourselves.”
Darnell stretched lazily. “I’m going back to get some sleep. I’m exhausted from all this fighting and killing. It doesn’t suit me. I prefer a peaceful life surrounded by beautiful women.”
After sighing emotionally, he casually walked towards the door without looking back.
Cesar raised his head slightly as his lips parted.
“From today onwards, we are bound by brotherhood. We entrust our lives upon each other. We help each other through good times or bad. We support each other through hardships. Anyone who dares harm our brothers will face our wrath.”
“Anyone who betrays our brothers will face our wrath. Let heaven bear witness. Anyone who violates this oath shall be punished by heaven!”
At that moment, Cesar and others swore their highest loyalty to Darnell in their own way.
Darnell’s body paused briefly before he left without turning back. He went straight to the Harmony Hospital.
Darnell didn’t allow Cesar and others to seek revenge, but it didn’t mean he wouldn’t teach Steve a lesson.
