Book 3: Chapter Eighty-Four – Stealing A Kiss!

Book:The Temptation Series Published:2024-12-6

Alexander unlocked his door and opened it wide for Eva to enter. The amused grin on his face was enough to warn her that his intentions weren’t very pure. Was there a button even to be stitched?
“Where’s the button?” she asked, looking around the place. He might have moved in last night, night, but the place was spotlessly clean and perfect, as if he had been cleaning it all day!
“It’s on my shirt. Here,” he said, pointing at the dangling button on his shirt. Eva looked confused. She had been there with him for so long, yet she hadn’t noticed that button before! Did he just pop it?
“Do you have a thread and needle?” she asked, and he looked blankly at her.
“I’ll get them.” She was about to go back, but he stood blocking the closed main door, his eyes twinkling as they gazed back at her. “Move, Alexander!”
“No. Come here and open the door if you have to go out.”
“How? Should I walk through you and get to the door?” He shrugged, waiting for her to do just that. Eva groaned and walked up to him.
“Now move or forget it. Wear it without a button,” she said, waiting for him to move away. Her heart raced at seeing the hooded look on his face, knowing what was going on in his head. Did he want to kiss her? His gaze fell to her lips and Eva’s heart thumped more loudly, waiting for him to make a move. It would be a lie to say that she didn’t want him to kiss her. He might be engaged, taken, whatever, yet he was hers. They loved one another to the moon and back. He was here, wasting his life for her. For what? It was obvious that they couldn’t stay away from one another.
Alexander’s hand trailed up her arm, slowly, lingeringly, while his eyes watched her like a hawk. A tremor of need went up her body at his touch. “I missed you, Eva,” he said in a husky whisper, his gaze roaming all over her face.
“I missed you too.” His breath hitched at her admission, and he grabbed her arm and crushed her to his chest. Eva wrapped her arms around his torso while he held her close. His heart danced with pure joy as they stayed cocooned in the sanctity of each other’s arms. “I wish we could go back to Paris!”
“We will one day!” whispered Alexander. Eva smiled and tightened her hold on him, wanting this moment to last forever.
“When are you re-joining work?” She knew this magical moment would be lost when he re-joined his work. He wouldn’t be able to hide from Beatrix much longer.
“Monday,” he said with a sigh. Eva smiled with relief. She would have at least four days with him! With Alyssa moving out, these four days would be something to look forward to. “I can see you planning something in your head for these four days! Am I not right?” he leaned in to whisper, his eyes twinkling with amusement. Eva blushed and looked away.
“Not at all!” she said, releasing him abruptly. Alexander held her by the chin and forced her to look up at him.
“But I’m planning to spend every minute of your free time with you.” Eva blushed, her gaze dropping to his lips. “Yes, we’ll kiss too.”
“I wasn’t thinking of it at all!” she lied, her face flushed hot with embarrassment.
“But I was! It’s what I think of all day. At night, my thoughts wander off to new territories though!” Eva pushed him away, her ears hot as ever.
“What? It’s the truth. Give me a kiss before you go or I’ll stand here by the door all night.”
“Alyssa is just next door, Alexander. She’ll hear us,” whispered Eva.
“We can kiss in silence!” he suggested in a whisper, as if it were a secret, something forbidden. A strange thrill ran up her body at the thought. He grabbed her again and pulled her back into his arms. Eva gasped with surprise, but he just dipped his head and claimed her lips, unable to wait anymore. Time seemed to halt as his soft lips invaded her senses, brushing against hers in a way that made her toes curl over with need. His tongue probed, sought entrance, and finally plunged in, starting a slow dance delicately against hers. Her hand pressed against his cheek to bring his face closer to hers. Days of pent-up frustration resurfaced at the brief encounter as if they had never been apart. The spark was the same where they had left off last in Paris. Eva kissed him back in the same way, causing the kiss to turn into a lingering battle to seek the maximum pleasure within such a brief span of time.
Alexander pressed her closer into his body, grinding his hard erection against her stomach. She gasped with shock, but he devoured her mouth more hungrily, as if he hadn’t just had his dinner earlier. Breathless, he released her mouth to softly bite the flesh of her ear.
“Do you feel what you do to me, Eva?” she whimpered in response, running her hands all over his torso, arousing him to desperate heights. “I want to sleep with you. I want to make love to you.” Her eyes flew open, and she released him, coming to her senses.
“Alexander, we.. we shouldn’t. Alyssa is waiting for me. I need to go,” she whispered, her eyes flying to the door. Alexander grunted with annoyance and released her, stepping away from the door with fire in his eyes. After a last glance in his direction, Eva rushed out of his apartment, fixing herself on the way. She just hoped she didn’t look thoroughly kissed!
She went into her apartment only to find Alyssa busy packing up her stuff.
“Where are you going?” she asked her friend.
“Nicholas has offered rent-free accommodation within walking distance from the office. I think I’ll take up his offer,” she said but Eva sulked like a child hearing her decision.
“What’s wrong with my apartment? It’s not like you’re on the streets,” she pointed out with a pout.
“I can’t live here with Alexander continuously barging in all the time. He was the reason I shifted here in the first place,” said Alyssa.
“He isn’t that bad, just a little lonely maybe,” said Eva as her cheeks flushed, at seeing the jaw-dropped look on Alyssa’s face.
“I really can’t believe that you are supporting him.”
“I’m not supporting him. I’m as angry as you are seeing him dump himself upon us but I can’t ignore the fact that he is dependent on us in some way, mentally or emotionally maybe,” said Eva.
“Not us, he is dependent on you, Eva. He has moved in here only for you,” pointed out Alyssa while Eva blushed crimson, making Alyssa gape at her, not understanding what was wrong with her friend. Did she patch up with her brother, knowing he was engaged to the bit*h?
Eva quickly escaped to the kitchen to get some water when her phone buzzed with an incoming call from Alexander. Now, what did he want? She accepted his call, her heart missing him already.
“What do you want, Alexander?” she whispered so that her friend couldn’t hear her.
“You. I want to make love to you all night. I want to sleep wrapped around your naked body.” Eva gasped, her cheeks burning with embarrassment at hearing him speak. What was wrong with him tonight?
“Alexander, you shouldn’t be saying those things to me. You’re engaged!” she scolded him.
“To hell with my engagement. She nauseates me. Do you think I can ever marry her when I love you so much? You’re in every cell of my body, in every breath I take. Please Eva, come over to me. Make any excuse,” he begged her. Eva frowned, hearing the clinking of glass over the phone. Was he drinking?
“Are you drunk, Alexander?” she asked with suspicion. He was fine when she left him. How could he be drunk so soon?
“No, I just gulped down two pegs. It’s not much, really. I’m feeling hopeless and lonely. I need you.”
“Not tonight, Alexander. Please go to sleep. Tomorrow, after Alyssa leaves, I promise to sleep with you,” she said, making him sigh.
“I’ll wait for tomorrow. Don’t forget your promise,” he said, disconnecting the call. Eva went back to the bedroom, but Alexander’s words kept echoing in her head. Should she give in to the desire coursing through her? What difference would it make to live a little with the man she loved?
“All packed up. I’ll go to my new home directly after work,” said Alyssa, lying down beside her.
“Aren’t you rushing it?”
“What’s the point in delaying? I can’t face Alexander all the time here.”
“Fine, but you know you are welcome to come back anytime. This is your home and you already have a spare set of keys. Keep it with you in case you need to come back,” said Eva, and Alyssa smiled at her friend.
“Thanks, I’ll remember that. Patch up on your relationship in my absence! With Maxwell, if Alexander doesn’t break off from Beatrix. I don’t want you to nurse a broken heart all your life.”
“I can’t think of Maxwell that way.”
“Then drill some sense in my brother’s head.” Eva smiled, loving the idea.
