Ulric couldn’t respond to that.
It was clear she didn’t want to tell him anything.
“Besides, what’s so bad about Sirena? Tell me! Whether it’s her looks, talent, or ability, what’s wrong with any of them?”
“Character.”
“And Rosalind has good character? She agreed to marry you for money! A woman who would sell her marriage for money, you call that good character?” Audrey wasn’t one to be trifled with. She had long investigated thoroughly and knew the reason Rosalind agreed to marry Ulric was to get money for her mother’s treatment.
In the end, it was all about money!
“I think her character is good enough. I don’t need anyone else’s judgment.”
“You-”
“Mom, I won’t marry Sirena.”
Even though he had told his mother countless times before, he didn’t mind saying it again.
“Then don’t recognize me as your mother anymore!”
Audrey hung up the phone in anger. Ulric frowned deeply, feeling equally distressed.
He knew that making her this angry would likely cause her sleepless nights and hospital visits. It might even risk losing his mother.
He didn’t want that, but he also didn’t want to betray his own heart.
Shortly after putting down his phone, Ulric looked up to see a doctor hurriedly running over with a few sheets of paper.
“We found it! Mr. Walters, we found it!”

Sirena had no one else to turn to for help, so she called Audrey.
She knew relying solely on Audrey to command Ulric to marry her wouldn’t work, but at least in such times, Audrey could help her through this difficult period.
“Ulric is acting like he’s possessed! Don’t worry; I’ll take care of what you’re concerned about!”
“Thank you… It’s all my fault for troubling you.”
“What are you talking about? You’re doing this for Ulric’s good!” Audrey paused and then lowered her voice. “By the way, tell me the truth. Where is that child? Do you know?”
Sirena hesitated before telling the truth. “I know. A friend of mine took him away. I just wanted to send him back to his home! Auntie, I’m sorry. I was just… afraid Ulric wouldn’t want me anymore!”
“I’m not blaming you! What you’re doing is right! If that child stays with you, Ulric will find out sooner or later. Hand the child over to me; I’ll handle this!”
“But will Ulric…”
“He won’t! Is he going to investigate me?”
Sirena originally intended to get rid of the child to eliminate future troubles, but now that Audrey was involved and on her side, she could hand over the child.
It wasn’t out of fear but rather not wanting her relationship with Ulric to deteriorate further. If it were discovered now, she could say Audrey forced her into it.
Shifting all the blame away from herself meant Ulric couldn’t hold it against her anymore.
“Alright, I’ll have someone bring the child to you.”
“It’s settled then. You don’t need to know or get involved in how I handle this.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up the phone, Sirena was about to call that man when he reached out first!
As soon as the call connected, the man’s voice was frantic.
“Something’s wrong! The child ran away!”
“What?!”
“I didn’t expect him to be so smart and crack the code I set! Now he’s gone!”
