“What are you doing?” Chloe was increasingly unable to understand Leo.
Earlier, he had told her not to rescue the artifacts, and now, even though they were almost at the exit, he stood there watching the scene unfold.
“Relax, it’s not a fire,” Leo said calmly.
“Really?” Chloe trusted Leo’s abilities. Although he didn’t explain, she believed him.
Sure enough, after a while, the noise subsided, and an announcement was made in the museum.
Leo couldn’t understand Korean, but from the announcer’s tone, he knew it wasn’t serious.
Chloe said happily, “It was a false alarm. Let’s go check on the artifacts.” She was still concerned about them.
Leo nodded and followed her upstairs.
“How did you know it wasn’t serious?” Chloe couldn’t help but ask.
The floor was littered with high heels, bags, and jewelry left behind by fleeing women, resembling a scene of chaos.
Leo and Chloe had to carefully pick their way through the mess, moving slowly.
“Just a hunch,” Leo didn’t intend to tell the truth; it was too complicated to explain.
But his so-called hunch wasn’t entirely a lie.
When the commotion started, he sensed something was off. The panic spread too quickly; most people don’t react that fast to disasters, especially fires.
It takes time for one person’s shout to spread to others. Leo’s senses were sharp, and he hadn’t detected any unusual signs.
Recalling Reginald’s actions the previous night, Leo knew someone was likely behind this.
Even so, at first, he wasn’t entirely sure, so he pulled Chloe to escape.
When they encountered Reginald and saw him gesturing for people to flee, Leo knew something was wrong.
Although they didn’t run in the direction Reginald pointed, it was clearly not an escape route but a dead-end space.
Reginald hadn’t anticipated that Leo would familiarize himself with all the exits in any new place he visited.
Leo and Chloe finally returned to the second floor. At their previous location, Reginald was nowhere to be seen, likely taken away by someone.
Leo smirked at the direction Reginald had pointed earlier. His men were probably hiding there.
In Reginald’s plan, if a fire broke out, Leo and Chloe would panic and flee. If they encountered someone directing them to an escape route, most people would follow Reginald’s directions.
Unfortunately for Reginald, he met Leo, rendering all his schemes futile.
Chloe ran to check on the artifacts in several display cases.
Fortunately, although some cases were damaged by the fleeing crowd, the artifacts inside remained intact.
“Thank goodness,” Chloe sighed in relief.
Turning around and seeing the mess in the exhibition hall, she frowned. “There are still two days left of the exhibition. What should we do?”
Leo wasn’t too concerned about whether the exhibition could continue. The small incident had canceled the rest of the day’s activities.
Davon felt it was a pity, but Leo and Dakota were secretly pleased with the extra free time.
Dakota found an excuse to discuss life with the round-faced translator girl, while Leo returned to his room to rest.
Only Davon and Chloe stayed behind to clean up the aftermath.
In the evening, Leo got out of bed and walked outside.
The courtyard was cool and quiet under the night sky. In the distance, he heard a drunkard singing intermittently in Atrarian.
Fortunately, most of Ewha Institute was used for work, with only this courtyard designated for guest accommodation. The drunken singing didn’t disturb others.
Just by listening, Leo knew it was Dakota.
He couldn’t help but envy Dakota’s carefree lifestyle.
Leo had intended to clear his chaotic thoughts under the night sky but was interrupted by Dakota’s drunken return.
As he was about to go back inside, the courtyard gate opened, and two people staggered in, arm in arm. It was hard to tell who was more drunk.
One person’s head reflected a halo in the moonlight-it was Davon.
Leo stopped and watched the two drunkards with amusement. “You two…”
“We… we’re best buddies! Leo! Let me tell you…” Davon loudly said while patting Dakota’s shoulder. His eyes glazed over as he repeated himself. “Leo, are you listening? Let me tell you…”
“I’m listening,” Leo replied helplessly. He was curious about what Davon would say when drunk.
But Davon kept repeating “Let me tell you,” without finishing his sentence. Finally, he said, “Wait here; I’ll tell you after I sleep.”
Then Davon shook off Dakota’s hand and staggered towards his room.
Dakota tried to follow him but was kicked to the ground by Davon.
“Get back to your own room,” Davon scolded before leaning against a pillar and starting to snore.
Dakota laughed and tried to stand up but was too drunk to manage it.
Leo couldn’t bear to watch anymore and went over to help him up.
Chloe must have heard the commotion and came out of her room wearing a white silk nightgown under a coat.
“How did they get this drunk?”
Leo shrugged and gestured towards Davon and Dakota, indicating they should each support one of them back to their rooms first.
Davon leaned against a pillar and smiled foolishly at Chloe. “Chloe, why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“Oh right, I forgot you’re dating Leo! Don’t worry; I’ll go inside myself. I only had seven drinks; this soju is like water, can’t get me drunk at all…”
Davon trailed off mid-sentence again.
Chloe’s face turned red with embarrassment up to her neck as she glared at Davon, but it had no effect.
Davon started snoring against the pillar.
Leo worried that Dakota might say something inappropriate in his drunken state that Chloe would hear and cause trouble for him. He quickly helped Dakota up and led him to his room.
