“When you’re wrong, you shouldn’t smear others to cover up your own mistakes. You’ve brought great shame to Baycliff,” Darnell said, delivering another slap across Jett’s face. “Today, I’ll teach you a lesson as your father.”
The seven foreign men and women were initially stunned, but then they seemed to realize something and looked at Jett in astonishment. Could it be that he was really from Baycliff?
Smack!
Darnell slapped him again, this time on the other cheek. “You dare to ask me who I am? Don’t you recognize me?”
“You’ve forgotten your heritage and also forgotten your father. What’s the point of you being alive?” Darnell scolded.
In the face of such shameless behavior, Darnell decided to teach him a lesson with even more shamelessness. “I’m very disappointed in you, son!”
Jett couldn’t contain his anger anymore and burst out in a string of words in Baycliff language. “You bastard! How dare you insult our people! I’ll kill you, you bastard!”
He charged towards Darnell, forgetting for a moment that he was supposed to be disguised as a Westergolder.
Bang!
Darnell kicked him, sending him flying. Jett tumbled down and then Darnell pulled him back up, taking out his ID card and handing it to the others.
“Everyone, I apologize for his lies and deception. His name is Jett, and he’s from Baycliff. He intentionally tried to smear Westergold,” Darnell said solemnly.
Jett struggled to break free and snatch back his ID card, but the pain in his abdomen prevented him from standing up.
The seven foreign men and women quickly scanned the ID card and immediately started shouting in disbelief,
“Oh my goodness!”
“His name really is Jett, and he’s from Baycliff.”
“These Baycliff people are despicable. They not only refuse to admit their mistakes but also pretend to be Westergold people, trying to get away. with it.”
“They are a narrow-minded and morally corrupt nation! Scum!”
Victoria became anxious upon seeing this and rushed towards Darnell, screaming, “He’s not one of us Baycliff people!”
They had originally planned to use clever tactics to salvage Baycliff’s image, but they didn’t expect Victoria to be dragged into the whirlpool by Darnell instead.
Smack!
Darnell slapped her again, sending Victoria flying. He then took her ID card out of her pocket and shouted, “She’s also from Baycliff.”
They all looked at her with disgust and contempt. This unexpected turn of events was bound to spread through the mouths of these seven individuals.
Victoria lay on the ground, holding her cheek in pain, feeling both angry and frustrated.
“You bastard!” Jett gritted his teeth as he struggled to get up and charged at Darnell once again.
Darnell kicked him away with another powerful blow. This time, the impact was so strong that Jett crashed into the wall, causing the elevator to shake and the lights to go out momentarily.
The foreign men and women screamed in panic but were relieved when they saw that the elevator had reached the first floor.
Smack!
Smack!
Smack!
In the blurry vision, several foreign men felt slaps on their buttocks, causing them to cry out.
As the elevator doors opened and light flooded in, everything became clear again.
Darnell stood quietly in a corner while Jett staggered. To steady himself, he placed his left hand on a woman’s thigh.
Smack!
The woman screamed and slapped Jett’s face in anger.
The other foreign men thought about the pain in their buttocks and showed disgusted expressions before delivering a big slap across Jett’s face one by one.
Jett’s face became bruised and swollen, while Victoria was filled with grief and anger. She stared at Darnell’s bright eyes with clenched teeth and said, “So it’s you!”
No matter how well he wore his mask, Darnell couldn’t hide his flamboyant demeanor. Moreover, he was the person Victoria hated most in Westergold.
“Goodbye!” The elevator doors opened again, and Darnell waved goodbye to Victoria before leaving with Lillian.
After leaving the Harmony Hospital, Darnell took Lillian out for ice cream. Lillian was excited about the commotion in the elevator earlier. She wished she had been the one slapping those despicable individuals and experienced that satisfying feeling firsthand.
Darnell took this opportunity to invite her to watch a movie, but Lillian reluctantly declined, telling him she had many things to take care of and needed to go back to work.
Darnell looked helpless as he could only accompany Lillian back to Spectrum Pharmaceuticals. Just as they arrived at the entrance of the office building, Darnell’s phone rang.
“Boss, we have a problem. We went back to our old house to get our deposit back and recruit some new members for our gang. But someone drugged us, and now we’re surrounded,” Harry urgently reported.
Darnell’s face slightly changed. “Who are they?”
Harry replied anxiously, “The Crow’s people and Steve’s people.”
Give me a break!
Darnell regretted it deeply. He shouldn’t have taken those four henchmen in the first place. They always caused trouble wherever they went.
At the same time, he marveled at the Swain family’s abilities. They had already located Cesar so quickly. Then he shouted, “Call the police! The police will be more effective than me.”
Harry almost cried out, “We’ve already called them, but they still haven’t arrived.”
There was no doubt that their opponents had made preparations.
Darnell growled lowly, “Where are you?”
Harry quickly responded, “Genesis House.”
Darnell hung up the phone and immediately called the police but found them unreliable. It seemed like they considered it a gang fight where both sides deserved to die cleanly without any interference from them. So Darnell thought of another way.
There were about two hundred people in total. It would be easy for him to go in alone to rescue them or even fight his way out. However, it would be nearly impossible for him to bring all the injured people back safely. It was merely wishful thinking.
Moreover, these two hundred people were only those visible on the surface. Who knew if Steve had hidden other helpers?
At that moment, Darnell noticed a familiar figure. It was Kameron.
Kameron came out of the Vertex wearing a police uniform with a briefcase tucked under his arm as if he had just finished some business there.
Darnell let out a sigh of relief as he put on the mask he hadn’t discarded yet. He walked inconspicuously towards Kameron who had just started his police car.
“Captain Meech, I’m here now. Yes, I’ve pulled the surveillance footage…” Kameron was talking on the phone when he sensed someone behind him.
He instinctively turned his head, but before he could see clearly who it was, a hand struck him. Kameron trembled and collapsed onto the steering wheel unconscious.
The car horn blared loudly.
His phone fell down as Judith shouted anxiously through it, “Kameron! What happened? Kameron, what’s going on?”
Darnell picked up the phone and ended the call before turning off the police car’s radio system. He then placed Kameron in the backseat before speeding away from the Vertex in the stolen police car.
At the police station…
Judith’s expression changed as she repeatedly tried calling Kameron but couldn’t reach him. She realized that something must have happened. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have abruptly ended their call or turned off the car radio system so easily. Even if Kameron was fine, Judith was willing to waste police resources just to confirm his safety.
She immediately dropped everything she was doing and rushed out of her office into the brightly lit hallway.
“Everyone stop what you’re doing,” Judith commanded with a serious expression as she gave orders to dozens of subordinates. “Kameron is in trouble. Most likely kidnapped by someone, probably Steve seeking revenge.”
“Activate vehicle tracking system immediately and call Whiteville SWAT team equipped with live ammunition.”
“Make sure we find Kameron!”
Dozens of fierce-looking officers responded in unison, “Yes!”
