Lilith
Daphne rolled her eyes boredly, chewing on her bottom lip.
“Why are you making it sound bad? It’s not like you are hurting anyone,” she scoffed, irritation flashing on her face.
“Can you lend me some money instead?”
Her eyes shot up in irritation. “Didn’t you hear that part where I said I just paid my tuition?”
“I know, I’m asking in advance in case you go into your business. Could you lend me some of the money you make?”
The air became awkward as Daphne let out a high-pitched laughter.
“What on earth is stopping you from participating? This is what pays my bills and takes care of me. Your job is to please the clients, not sleep with them. You decide whether to show any part of your body or not. You decide whether to dance on the pole or not. The point is you will be paid well, and you will clear off the bad guys’ deals.” She half-yelled, her voice sounding convincing.
But it was not that easy.
What if Alpha Casper walked in on me doing those videos?
I was as good as gone.
I would always remain a whore to him and as an impatient person, he wouldn’t wait for any explanation before kicking me out.
Raphael on the other hand would bask in happiness, shoving it to the Alpha’s face that he was right all along.
He wouldn’t hesitate to remind me that I was a gold digger and I was only close to the Alpha because of the benefit.
The offer was tempting, but I couldn’t risk betraying Alpha Casper’s trust.
He didn’t deserve another heartbreak.
I sighed deeply. “I’m sorry, Daphne. I don’t think I will be able to do this.”
“Suit yourself,” she replied nonchalantly, grabbing her bag to search for something.
“Bye,” I muttered.
“Bye? Where will you get the money if you go?” She stopped, dropping the bag on the stool before glancing at me with concern.
“I’ll meet my father,”
“Oh, please,” she groaned, rolling her eyes. “That man wouldn’t even look at you twice. He said you are dead to him, remember?” she shook my shoulders hard as if refreshing his words in my head.
“I am left with no other choice.”
“Why don’t you get a loan from your boss? He doesn’t have to pay your salary. Until the loan is completed, you will get your salary,” she suggested.
“You don’t understand. He has done more than enough for me. He’s been clearing the medical bills. I don’t want to be a burden.” I explained, blinking back the tears in my eyes.
“Fine. There is always a plan b which is to take this job that I am offering,” she pestered, grabbing my arm tenderly and sinking her eyes into mine.
I tore away from her grip, walking towards the door.
“I will see my father!” I stated vehemently, walking away as fast as my legs could carry me before she got to talk me into it.

Arriving at my father’s mansion, a cold breeze swept through me, doubling my fear.
I swallowed hard, halting in my tracks while preparing my mind for the worst.
I would stomach whatever that stupid mistress and her daughter does to me, as long as I get what I want.
I had barely 3 days.
Taking deep breaths, I shut my eyes gluing to the spot for some seconds before taking steps towards the house.
Wiping my sweaty palms against my cloth, I press the bell, waiting for the security to open the gate.
He appeared almost immediately, shooting me the same sorry look.
But this time, I wasn’t ashamed.
“Good morning, sir,” I greeted, throwing him off balance with a smile.
“You are here again,” he blurted. His voice shook with great pity as he scratched the back of his neck in confusion.
“Please, don’t call me sir.”
Silence hung in the air as we locked gaze, oblivion on what to do.
From the corner of my eyes, he tightened his fist on the iron bars of the gate that separated us.
He tore his eyes away from mine, looking away as his face was masked in worry.
“I came to see my father,” I broke the silence, maintaining a smile on my face. “I know that he is at home.”
My eyes darted to the light in my father’s room on the last floor. It was always on whenever he was at home.
What excuse would I be given this time to he prevented from seeing him?
“Miss Lilith,” he bowed, pinning his eyes to the floor.
“I am afraid-”
“Afraid of what? Seeing my father?”
“I would be punished if I let you in. The last time you came, I was warned never to let you in or step your feet on the premises-”
“He had barely finished his words when I took the opportunity to dash into the house when the laundry man came to deliver clothes.
“Miss Lilith, come back! You cannot go in there!” he yelled furiously, chasing after me.
Running into the house, I shut the door behind me to stop the noise from penetrating into the house.
“Look who barged into our house.” A feminine voice permeated into the air, making my blood run cold.
I turned slowly, almost frozen in shock when my eyes swept across the family having breakfast.
“Now my mood is ruined because the air is contaminated,” Delilah groaned, her face reddened with anger. “What the hell is this wretched pig doing here?!”
My mouth watered at the sight of the plethora of food that was wasted on the large table.
“I’m sorry you have to witness her hideous sight while eating,” the mistress patted her daughter’s back tenderly, planting a kiss on her forehead before her eyes shot daggers at my father.
“Did you call this bastard here?!”
A gasp tore off my throat and anger seeped through me.
My fist clenched hard enough to draw blood as I remained motionless, struggling to endure her hurtful words.
“I would never, darling. She is dead to me,” he asserted, holding her hands and caressing it softly before landing his angry eyes on me.
“How the hell did you come in here?”
The next thing I heard was the angry noise of their curlers dropping against the plate.
I gulped hard, clearing my dry throat.
“I’m sorry for barging it, I just need to discuss something important with my father,” my voice quivered as fear gripped me hard.
Their sneers filled the room and the thick smoke of hatred oozing out of their bodies suffocated me.
“I could call the police on you and tell them that you want to rob us since you don’t know it is a criminal offense to barge into people’s houses without their consent,” she gritted between her teeth, picking up her phone as her eyes flashed red.
“Do it, mum! Teach her a lesson,” Delilah urged, flashing a mischievous smile at me that sent my inside boiling.
“I feel generous today so let’s hear the trash she is about to spill,” she replied sweetly at her daughter before turning her eyes to meet mine.
“I hope your mother is dead this time!”
A sharp painful stab through my heart as I could barely contain the anger that threatened to overwhelm me.
“No. But I need some money to pay back the loan I took for her surgery,” I answered in a plain voice.
I would not give them the pleasure to see me crack under their influence.
Delilah’s high pitched laughter resonated throughout the room.
“Can you hear that, mum? She needs us to clear her loan,” she busted into another round of laughter, hitting the table as she struggled to catch her breath.
“You should consider comedy. It could help clear your bills.”
Ignoring her words, I strode towards my father who shot me a cold glare, eyeing me with disgust.
“Just stay there!” he ordered, stopping me a few inches from him.
I licked my dried lips, falling on my knees with tears hanging in my eyes.
“If I don’t repay the loan in 3 days, I might get killed,” my voice cracked as tears slipped from my eyes.
“I need $5500, please, Dad,”
I hadn’t finished my words before a resounding slap collapsed on my face.
I fell back as my back brushed against the cold floor.
The tears that I had been holding flowed like rain, rolling down my cheeks as my eyes became red.
The sharp sting from the slap sent bells to ring in my ears for some seconds before it went numb.
I winced in pain, picking myself from the floor and ignoring the snorts from Delilah and her daughter.
A stab of pain hit me as I lifted my eyes to see my father who was vibrating in fury.
His hands trembled hard by his sides as if he was about to strike me again.
“This is the first time you hit me, dad,” I muttered amid tears.
Another unexpected slap slammed through my cheeks and I felt blood rushed to the top of my skin.
He growled, narrowing his gaze as anger oozed out of him heavily.
“Don’t you ever call me Dad again. I am not your Dad and I will never be. Get out of my house!”
