Lilith
Sell my body?!
“You can’t be serious!” I scoffed, taking the phone off my ears to check the caller ID again.
I was sure Daphne would never give me such terrible advice.
“I am. Come over, I will teach you how to make over $20k in less than 3 weeks.” Her voice sounded deadly, making my stomach churn in disgust.
I thought I would puke as her stupid ideas pushed the bile in my gut.
So fucking irritating!
“By selling my body?” I asked as my voice broke in disbelief.
“You have what the clients want and in those nasty costumes, those hungry men would worship your body. You won’t regret this, Lilith. You could take care of the medical bills, quit your shitty job and enjoy life.”
“Goddess, just stop!” I screamed in irritation. “Can you even listen to yourself? I should become a slut because I have bills to pay? Are you drunk?”
Blinded by anger, I disconnected the call, pushing my phone carelessly into my purse before folding my arms as I was buried in thoughts.
Has she gone nuts?
That cannot be Daphne. She would never tell me to do such a disgusting job.
Pushing her words away from my mind, I thought of ways I could make quick money to save my mother’s life.
Then I was hit by 2 brilliant ideas.
What was the use of using an expensive Samsung phone and wristwatch when my mother’s life depended on it?
And then there was the offer from the doctor.
Without wasting time, I rushed into the hospital, panting hard as I entered the doctor’s office.
I swallowed, taking gentle breaths before walking towards the doctor who shot me a quizzical look.
“What are you doing here, Miss Parker? I thought you were out there sourcing for funds.”
“Actually, I came to ask about the offer. I am willing to take it. Anyone that is available. I don’t care if it involves me getting pregnant with a vegetable or becoming a surrogate mother, as long as I’m able to clear the bills.” I spilled, my eyes flashing in sincerity.
A frown cascaded on the doctor’s face before he dropped the pen in the middle of the file, covering it and pushing it aside as his attention was fixed on me.
“It’s already late,” he revealed, releasing an awkward sigh as he tore his gaze off me.
“I know, but not all the offers were taken. I was given 3 options that day and I’m ready to do anything right now,” I pleaded desperately, almost dropping to my knees before the doctor’s held my arms, straightening me up.
I clasped my hands together as fear enveloped my heart, causing it to thump loudly.
My eyes were fixed on the doctor’s lips as I awaited his response.
Silent prayers flew out of my slightly parted lips as I tried to be optimistic.
Not all the offers could have been taken, right?
It was just a few days apart.
“All the offers have been taken, Miss Parker,” he revealed, dropping the bombshell that crushed my heart.
“No!” I screamed painfully, rushing to meet him. “I need it.”
“You told me that you were not interested, I have proof, so why are you suddenly asking about it?” He scoffed, eyeing me like I was a mentally deranged person.
“I’m sorry, what if I take my words back.”
“You can’t go back on your words, Lilith. You were not the only girl that the offers were presented to. Other girls have done it and they are enjoying the benefits. Next time, think thoroughly before giving me a reply ”
“Yes, doctor,” I drawled, uneasiness formed in me as I thought of ways to cajole him.
I was sure he was mad at me for refusing his offers.
“Is there any other one?”
“For now, no. Not even in the next 2 months. My advice is that you hit the streets and get money if you want to save your mother’s life.”
Tears burned the back of my eyes as his words hit me hard. But I couldn’t leave.
Not yet, until I had gotten what I wanted. I didn’t mind if it came with a bit of ridicule.
I was more desperate than a man about to sell his soul to the devil.
“Can you lend me some money? Even if it’s half the amount, I’ll pay back once my boss is well. He is currently sick and I can’t ask for money, please.” I dropped on my knees, fixing my teary eyes on his stoic ones.
Maybe I didn’t need the ridiculous offers. I just needed him to see how dedicated and desperate I was.
He was a nice man and I am certain he would help me.
“I can work part time since my boss would not be around for sometime. You don’t need to pay. Just deduct the money until it is complete. Please,” I begged with a cracked voice. Tears poured like flood down my eyes before staining the floor.
“This place is not a charity organization, Miss Parker. I can’t give you $23k or half, how much do you think I’m being paid? Moreover, we don’t need staff. I would suggest you leave.”
*****
I sat outside the hospital dejected and battered. Hugging my small frame I wailed hard, ignoring the stares I received from passersby.
How the hell would I get $23k in the next 40 hours?
Alpha Casoer was out of it, including Daphne who suggested I should venture into prostitution.
I was also certain Raphael wouldn’t give me, rather, he would make fun of my misery and taunt me for the rest of my life.
Anna on the other hand was a housekeeper like me, she can’t afford that huge amount.
Suddenly, a black G-wagon pulled over before me and the door opened to reveal a man in black suit stepping out of the car and walking towards my direction.
Paying less attention, I was drowned in self-pity until a strong aura blasted me.
Fear gripped me when the strange man stopped a few inches away from me, observing me closely with a hardened look on his scarred face.
His aura screamed destruction and danger, and my wit urged me to run far away from him.
“Lilith Parker,” he said coldly, maintaining the rigid look on his face. He adjusted the dark sunglasses before grinding his teeth to show his displeasure.
My heart almost jumped out of my chest and I almost passed out in shock.
“How did you know my name? Who are you?” I half-screamed, trembling like a leaf as a cold wave of dread swept over me.
Why didn’t I run when I had the chance to? I was so screwed.
“You have 2 options from my boss. Choose between yourself or your sister and your mother’s medical bills. The choice is yours.”
