Lilith
I wasn’t aware when the call disconnected as I was telephoned into another realm.
I found myself trapped in my head, glancing at the childhood memories with my mum that ran down my brain in a flash of light.
A feeling of bravery welled up in me, and I found myself strengthened.
I would do anything to save my mum.
I couldn’t let my indecision end her life. I would practically become an orphan if she dies because dad already disowned me.
I had barely stood when a notification from my phone caught my attention.
Fear crept in my spine as I was consumed in the sea of doubt.
I was afraid it was a message from my creepy stalker. I was in a foul mood for creepy messages.
After summoning courage, I unlocked my phone, clicking on the message icon.
With widened eyes, I scrolled through the content. I let out a scream, unable to believe what I read.
This was the happiest day of my life!
Alpha Casper transferred $30, 000 to my account without asking!
I spinned in happiness before collapsing on the bed . As I read the story attached it to the message.
I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on your conversation, but I sensed you were in need of money, and the call was urgent. Whatever it is, I hope this token will be able to solve it. But if you need more, you can always ask. And don’t bother coming to thank me. It’s nothing. You deserve more than this.
Fresh tears welled up in my eyes as I read it again.
I’ve known Alpha Casper for a few months, yet he has done more than enough for me.
And did he just call $30, 000 a token?!
How rich was this dude?!
Without wasting time, I transferred the money to the doctor and called him so he could start treatment on my mum. Although he still demanded the balance of $15, 000.
I almost cursed him in anger at his request. I would have been riding a vegetable in the hope of carrying his child if Alpha Casper hadn’t come through for me.
Despite trying to sleep, I couldn’t stop but wondered how I would complete the medical bills.
I was embarrassed about asking Alpha Casper for more.
He already did more than enough, and I didn’t want to be a burden or act like he was just a money dispensing machine.
I got lost in thoughts, and I didn’t know when I drifted off to sleep.
*****
I knocked softly on Alpha Casper’s door with my hands clutching my bag tightly.
He told me not to appreciate him but I couldn’t ignore the huge favour.
My mum would have been 6 feet under, or i would have signed the contract in tears if he hadn’t intervened.
I knocked again, but I was met with silence, which was strange.
Pushing the door open, I entered Alpha Casper’s room, but I was met with thick darkness.
Retrieving my phone from my small bag, I switched on the light, navigating my way to the window before yanking the curtains open.
Light flooded the room, and I saw Alpha Casper lying motionless on the bed.
His heavy breathing filled my ears, but I couldn’t see his face because of the position he slept.
“Alpha?” I called quietly, fear sank its painful claws into the depth of my heart as I walked to meet him.
I groaned painfully when my fingers made contact with his hot body.
“Fuck, you are burning up! Can you call Raphael so he can call the doctor?” I asked, trembling in fear and confusion.
“You weren’t like this last night. What happened?”
Fear sank further into me, consuming me whole as I began to think of the unimaginable.
What if the creepy guy that stalked me spiked his drink so that he would kill him?
What if I was the cause of his sudden illness?
I should have slept in his room last night.
I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happened to him.
Tears started to burn at the back of my eyes as my hands roamed over his body.
“Talk to me, Casper, please. I just wanted to thank you for the money you sent yesterday. I’m on my way to the hospital to check on my mum. You can’t be sick too.”
I didn’t know when I broke down in tears.
My strength failed me severally as I tried to turn Alpha Casper’s body over. I successfully flipped him on the 8th try.
Hugging him tightly, I showered his face with kisses before running my hands on his face and his hair.
Concern was plastered in my eyes as I tapped him, waiting for his eyes to open.
“You are scaring me, Alpha. I don’t like this.”
“Should I get you your inhaler?”
I was met with silence. He didn’t move, nor even blink his eyes.
“I’m calling the doctor, what’s your pin?” I asked, tapping him awake.
He released a painful groan before wincing.
A great deal of pain cascaded down my tongue and I knew I was sharing his feelings.
Why was he suddenly sick?
I thought he was the most powerful.
“Just open your eyes, please,” I begged, shaking him gently. To my surprise, his eyes peeled open.
They were covered in pain.
He gritted his teeth, squeezing his eyes as he growled loudly.
“Are you alright?”
“Lilith,” he struggled to string words.
“What happened?” My voice broke as I was about to burst into tears again.
I couldn’t believe Alpha Casper could be this vulnerable.
He looked like he was about to give up the ghost.
I could sense a painful stinging all over his body. It felt like the intense burning sensation of acid, eating up his organs from the inside.
“Go…it’s…dangerous here,” he murmured, gasping for breath before yelling in pain again.
“I’m not leaving you. I care about you.” I pushed my hair back, lowering to meet his lips with mine for a moment, giving him a reassuring kiss.
“Go, Lilith, I don’t want…to…hurt…you.”
“You can’t hurt me, you are a good man and you love me. You are not a monster, you are the best thing that happened to me,” I confessed, exchanging a smile. His lips were in the process of forming a smile but he was struck hard by an intense pain.
This one was different. It was like being struck by lightning.
His wailing rang in the air for a minute and I found myself tearing up.
It hurt me to see him in pain knowing there was nothing I could do.
“You need to see a doctor,” I replied amid tears.
“He is…coming…with Raph…”
“What is wrong with you? How can I help you, I really want to help-”
“Can’t…it’s the curse,” he replied weakly, biting his lips painfully that blood seeped out, staining his mouth.
“The curse? What curse?”
“My…curse-”
He had barely finished his words when the door flew open and sounds of hasty footsteps raced towards my direction.
“Get away from the Alpha!”
