“Fuck!” Lilith cursed in frustration, pushing me away from her before grabbing a fistful of duvet, and using it to cover her nakedness.
The heavy scent of her embarrassment and fear filled my nose, irritating me.
Her heart started pounding hard against her chest and her face was pale in shock.
Unlike her, I was calm.
Raphael was my Beta and I knew how to handle him. He had no business with whom I chose to spend the night with.
“Relax-”
“No, Alpha,” she shunned me as she was breathless in shock. So many thoughts were running wildly in her head.
“I shouldn’t have slept here…. fuck,” she said in regret, hitting her forehead with her palm before muttering a curse, making my inside knot in sadness.
I thought she enjoyed what we shared? Why the regret?
Was I a fool for letting my emotions take over me?
I gulped, staring at her as I was unable to find the best words to calm her.
“Would you stop fretting?!” I groaned in annoyance, hissing angrily as she wouldn’t stop fidgeting. “It’s not like he will kill you.”
I scoffed, rolling my eyes before getting off the bed.
“Wait, where are you going?” She demanded in a low but firm voice. Her brows were arched and her eyes narrowed at me.
“To open the door,” I replied nonchalantly.
“You will not do that. What is wrong with you?” she lamented, gritting her teeth and clenching her fist in the air in displeasure.
“He can’t see me here. He will punish me. He strictly told me never to go near you.” Her voice cracked as if she was about to burst into tears. “Now I’m in your bed and he is right outside the door. I’m so screwed.”
A frown broke on her face and she pursed her lips. I found it cute.
I walked over to her, engulfing her in a bear hug before planting a quick kiss on her lips. Soon, I got carried away and snuck my hands to her waist, holding her firmly while deepening it, but she pushed me away, bending to pick up the duvet that dropped on the floor before wrapping it around her body firmly.
“We are not doing this.” She gritted, hitting my chest lightly before giving me a feisty look.
“Quick, give me your shirt. He can’t see me naked,” she suggested, while I walked into my closet, picking one of my favorite black shirts.
I almost chuckled when she wore it as the size was large. It was like a mini gown, but she was adorable in it.
“Alpha?” Raphael knocked harder, worry etched in his voice.
Lilith’s heart almost jumped out of her chest when he kept turning the door knob.
“I’m so scared,” she whined, burying her head on my chest as she sobbed lightly.
I pulled her closer to me, enjoying the warmth of her body and her scent.
“Then stay.” I declared, pulling her head away from my chest before nodding my head affirmatively. “Stay.”
“What? I don’t want him to see me. I’m not ready for his yapping.”
“There is nothing to be afraid of, I’m the boss here, why are you so afraid of him?” I flared.
“Because he threatens me every time he sees us together. You need to hide me, please,” she begged, licking her dried lips before fixing her eyes on me.
“Alpha? Are you alright?! I’m fucking breaking this door!” Raphael threatened before using the heel of his shoe against the door, causing a loud noise.
“Fine. Hide in my closet if that will make you feel better. But just so you know, I’m not ashamed of you even if Raphael walks in on us,” I stated, swallowing painfully as I watched her race into the closet before shutting the door behind her.
“Stop it!” I yelled, walking towards the door to open it.
Raphael rushed in, his eyes darting all over the place before he cast his worried face on me.
“Why did you take so long? I thought something bad happened, like the curse. You scared me,” he scowled, moving away from me to sit on the chair.
“What were you doing?”
“Why are you here?” I blurted, ignoring his question.
His parted lips sealed as his eyes scanned the area and curiosity was etched on his face.
“What happened here?” He demanded authoritatively, going over to my bed and scrutinizing everything.
“What is that scent? Did you bring someone in here?”
I could tell Lilith would have almost died in shock because she could hear all that we were saying.
“What brings you here, Raphael?” I asked, using my Alpha tone.
“I came to bury Tim.”
“Then do it. What do you need me to do? Dig the grave?” I asked, my voice dripping in sarcasm as I hissed, moving away from him.
“I just came to let you know since I couldn’t bury him yesterday because of you and Lilith’s stupid display plus I didn’t want him to stink in the dungeon. I know how much you love it in there, especially when you torture your prisoners.” He grinned. But then, it faded away quickly when his eyes caught sight of something.
I trailed it and my gaze rested on the bed where pieces of Lilith’s nightgown sat.
I cursed inwardly, mentally scolding myself for exposing Lilith.
“What is that?” He asked rhetorically, stooping to pick up the soft material that was scattered on the bed.
“This belongs to a lady,” he said, holding the material close to his eyes as if examining it. “You made out with someone last night. Who was she?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about-”
“I’m not a fool, Alpha. You owe me a lot of explanation. Your bed is rumpled, the smell is weird in here. I know a feminine scent when I smell one. It smells like you had sex with someone. Plus you tore her lingerie in the process. And I am certain she was the reason you delayed opening the door,” he explained carefully as his cold eyes were fixed on my irritated ones.
“She has to be here somewhere. Where did you hide her?” He asked, dashing off into the toilet. He swung the door open, glancing around, before shutting it.
Before I could block the closet door, he swung it open, walking into it before hurling threats.
Relief coursed through me when he walked out of the closet and banged the door in frustration.
“She is lucky I didn’t lay my hands on her,” he threatened, clenching his fist before resting his gaze on me. “You did a clever job hiding her. But you know that you have to explain-”
“I owe you no explanation!” I bellowed, anger stirring up within me as I glared at him, expressing my displeasure.
“Don’t piss me off, Raphael. You came for a reason, then fucking do it instead of roaming around aimlessly to poke your nose in things that don’t concern you,” My voice accented twice as my anger increased.
“I was right. You made out with a girl last night,” he said in a whisper, scoffing afterward before turning to leave.
“One more thing before you go. Don’t you ever threaten Lilith again? It was an order!”
“Oh, no! You are already in love with her!”
