Lilith
“Take her away!” He bellowed mercilessly while his men dragged me along the bushy part until they got to a black van.
“No! Leave me alone!” I screamed in horror before jerking hard from sleep.
Panting hard, my hand flew to my chest, and my heart raced at an unusual speed.
I quickly turned on the light on the nightstand as I became afraid of the dark.
Jumping off the bed, I closed the curtain, afraid that I might be sighted from outside.
My insides boiled in fear as sweat started dripping from my forehead.
A sense of dread filled me, and goosebumps broke out on my skin.
The nightmare left an eerie feeling in me.
It felt so real, leaving me trembling hard.
My body grew tense to the point of shaking. I ran my fingers through my hair to calm me, but it wasn’t working.
It’s just a bad dream, Lilith. I chanted repeatedly, hoping it was enough to erase my fear, but it did nothing.
After sitting for almost 30 minutes, I switched off the light before laying to sleep, but I couldn’t help the paranoid feeling that enveloped me.
Unable to sleep, I walked out of the room, heading to Anna’s room as I was afraid the dream would continue if I slept alone.
A scream tore through my lips, and I jumped backward when I heard the sound of throat clearing.
“Relax. It’s just me, Lilith.”
A sense of calmness washed over me the moment I heard Alpha Casper’s voice.
His intoxicating scent erased my tension and chased the fear that clung to my heart, leaving me refreshed.
How was his scent able to do that?
“Fuck!” I muttered to myself, letting out a sigh of relief.
I was about to proceed to Anna’s room, but then I remembered I hadn’t thanked him.
“Thank you for the phone, Alpha. I really appreciate it. But is it to bribe me because of what happened earlier?” I asked, watching his eyes drop on my body.
“It has nothing to do with that,” He replied, letting out a nervous chuckle.
It was the first time Alpha Casper did something close to a smile.
I was happy that he was gradually healing.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his eyes observing me as if digging into my soul.
“I was passing by and I heard your scream.”
“I had a nightmare that scared the shit out of me and I headed to Anna’s room. I can’t sleep alone.” I explained, moving away from him.
“I’m sorry for breaking the rule. It’s past 11 pm.”
“It’s alright. What happened?”
“I was chased by the man that almost kidnapped me today. He caught me and was about to put me in his van when I woke up. It was so terrifying. I thought the dream was real.” I whimpered and my body shuddered in fear.
I hugged my small frame, taking deep breaths as the dream flashed across my memory, instilling fear in me.
“It’s okay, Lily,” he breathed calmly, drawing me close to him with his arms around my waist.
I thought the dream was scary, but the closeness between me and the Alpha was terrifying.
He seemed comfortable wrapping his arms around my waist. Isn’t the relationship between us supposed to be professional?
These days, he acts contrary to his rules.
A part of me liked his new version where he showered me with sweetness, but I was afraid if it continued, I would fall in love with him which would lead me to getting hurt because I was not Alpha Casper’s type.
His heart belonged to Marina alone.
Who knows if he was using me to pass the time until Marina returned?
Concluding that our relationship would be more professional, I pulled away from his grip, removing his hand on my waist.
“You have to be careful. Those men won’t stop until they find you.” He spilled, making tension seize me.
I almost staggered as blood drained from my face in horror.
“Who are they and what do they want from me?” I asked as fear choked me.
“They are traffickers. In the box of your phone, you will find a watch. Always wear it. It has a tracker so that if anything happens, I will always find you,” he suggested in a calm voice.
“I can’t lose you, Lilith.”
My heart jumped at his words.
This was the second time he said that.
Questions ran freely in my head but I was too terrified by the strange man that kept haunting me.
“Thank you, Alpha.”
“Let’s go upstairs. You will be safe there.” He urged, pulling me closer to him.
I froze, staring at him in disbelief. “Upstairs as in the last floor?” I asked to be certain that my ears weren’t deceiving me.
I remembered reading how going to the last floor Was prohibited except from his Beta and his doctor.
“Yes.”
“But-”
“No buts.” He placed his finger on my lip, allowing it to slide down my chin before taking me into his room.
Covered by disbelief, I was too shocked to speak.
What was happening to Alpha Casper?
Why was he suddenly all sweet and caring?
“You can sleep on my bed, it’s very comfortable.” He added, switching off the light before jumping on his bed.
Afraid to sleep, I sat on the edge of the bed, clasping my hands around my body as my heart wouldn’t stop beating.
What the fuck was happening?!
Why was everything happening so fast between me and Alpha Casper?
I flinched the moment his hands gripped my shoulders before releasing it.
“There is nothing to be scared about. I’m your boss and the relationship between us is strictly professional. It’s in the rules, remember?” He reassured me and I felt my shoulders relax.
“It’s just for tonight.” He added before laying beside me to sleep.
Slowly, I laid beside him with my heart in my throat, almost curling into a ball as his scent lingered everywhere, tingling my nose.
I tossed to the other side, hoping it would help, but his minty breath against my shoulders started to drive me insane.
I clasped my legs tightly, hugging my body as I tried to sleep, but failed each time.
His presence worsened matters and all that kept ringing in my head was his intoxicating scent.
The tension between us was strong. It pulled us together like magnets.
I knew I wasn’t the only one affected by this bond, Alpha Casper was affected, but he was fighting hard to contain himself.
“Fuck the rules!” I heard him mutter under his breath.
It happened so quickly, the next thing I knew my body was trapped beneath his.
