I wasn’t letting Anna risk her life for Lilith.
She was an adult, capable of making decisions, and should also be brave enough to face the consequences.
I lay on the bed, facing the wall before shutting my eyes.
I tried to fall asleep, but I failed several times. Lilith’s face kept flooding my head.
“Fuck!” I groaned, jamming my fist on the wall, before yanking the sheets away from my body.
Why couldn’t I give a fuck about her absence? Not like she mattered to me anyway.
She was just a maid.
My face scrunched up as I felt a stabbing pain in my heart. The discomfort was so intense that I couldn’t overlook it.
Alarmed, I sat up, clutching my chest tightly as horror was planted in my heart.
It was bizarre because I wasn’t the type that got scared.
As a toddler, I was the toughest and bravest amongst my peers.
But for the first time in my life, I was greatly afraid.
What threw me off balance was Lilith’s terrifying screams ringing in my head.
Could it be that I was sharing Lilith’s feelings?
But how was that even possible since she wasn’t my mate?!
Brushing the thoughts aside, I got off the bed and rushed downstairs, preparing to find her.
Anger resonated in me as Raphael’s report on the traffickers rushed into my head.
I hope they haven’t found her.
I didn’t know what I would do if I lost her.
Anna sat on the floor wailing her eyes out, her phone was beside her. I peeked at the screen and saw Lilith’s name and number written across it.
“She isn’t picking up her call, Alpha…This is unlike…her…I think something bad has happened to her.” she sniffed, wiping her face before calling her again.
The phone rang endlessly without being picked up.
Dread crept into my soul as panic began to set in me.
Lilith was in danger!
“Fine. Watch the house. I’ll find her.” I replied, walking out of the room in haste.
I stopped abruptly, turning to see Anna who had stood to her feet, wiping the tears with a piece of cloth.
“Thank you, Alpha.”
“If anything goes wrong, you know what to do.”
A puzzled look descended upon her face. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Call Raphael, don’t be dumb!” I hissed in annoyance, dashing out of the room almost blinded by anger.
They better not lay a finger on Lilith.
I halted in my tracks, trailing her scent to get her location.
Luckily, her scent was heavy in the woods.
Snuffing crazily, I kept following it until I reached a lonely path. Faint voices erupted from the distance.
I felt a charge of power from nowhere. It almost felt as if my wolf was back.
Using my wolf vision, I could make out several men laughing hysterically. They formed a circle around a woman who seemed afraid.
She was Lilith!
My blood quickened in anger as I licked my lips, strategizing on how to take them down. Especially when I could sense their wolves.
They could shift easily, but since I hadn’t wolfed out in 10 years, They might have an advantage over me.
I watched in rage how they kept tossing her and throwing nasty remarks at her.
“Let her go!” I bellowed, releasing a terrifying growl that shook the earth to assert dominance.
With surprise in their eyes, they turned in the direction of my voice before letting out hysterical laughter.
They seemed new in the business.
The one who heard about me or had an encounter with me wouldn’t dare look me in the eye.
“And who are you to spoil our fun?” A man with a silver-coated knife challenged me, flashing the knife before my eyes to shoo me off.
Dumbass!
“You will lose half of your men if I repeat myself,” I fired, maintaining my composure. My deadly eyes fixed on his. He seemed like their leader.
“For the last time, I’m telling you to leave in peace. Except you want to leave in pieces!” He snarled, licking the blade of the knife that reflected brightly under the moon.
“Alpha!” Lilith screamed before she was silenced by one of the men. Hope flushed on her scared face.
I clenched my jaws, fighting the urge to control myself. I didn’t want them to see that Lilith’s predicament brought pain to me so they wouldn’t use it against us.
“Alpha? Interesting. How about we propose a deal? Since you are an Alpha, we can hide under your leverage. Join us in picking up people like her and you will be rewarded heavily,” the man who spoke earlier said, before flashing a greedy grin at me.
My lips twisted in excitement.
This was the night I’ve been waiting for.
“You mean trafficking people as sex slaves and forced labor workers?” I retorted, letting out a low growl as I couldn’t contain my rage anymore.
“Don’t let it sound like that, Alpha. Our boss will reward you with anything you want. You can even buy this one from them. Since she is a virgin, the bid will be high. You can make her your slut. No one cares. It’s a win-win. If you are ready, we will take you to our leaders.”
“Seems there is more than one leader,” I replied, allowing himself to spill carelessly.
“Stop. He seems like a snitch.” The man with the knife cautioned, fixing his eyes on me. He suddenly felt threatened by my presence and raised the knife to scare me.
“Get out or I’ll kill you!” He threatened, baring his teeth.
Lilith sniffed, making a sound in her throat.
She brought me into this mess, now she was feeling sorry for me?
Before he could get a hang of what was happening, I delved into action, taking down 5 of his unsuspecting men.
The agony in their voices made him realize that they dropped dead.
The man holding Lilith gripped her against his body. His eyes sank into mine, observing my movement.
Four of the men shifted into their wolf form, growling at me, before attacking.
Using my super speed and strength, I fought bravely, sinking my claws in their chest before pulling their hearts out.
In no time, 3 were dead. It remained the man with the knife and the man holding Lilith.
I attacked the man holding Lilith, while carefully dodging the knife that the other man tried to bury inside me.
Freeing Lilith from his grip, I pushed her aside, ignoring her screams when she fell to the ground.
My lips jammed together as I stifled a painful scream when the silver knife cut deep into my skin.
I bit my lips, touching the bloodied area while using my second hand to push Lilith away as she tried to save me.
“Go! Hide! Meet Anna.” I yelled frantically, annoyed by her disobedience.
“I’m not leaving you!” She cried amid tears, coming close to me. “Leave him alone,” she screamed, hitting a brick on one of the man’s heads.
The enraged man hit her, almost making her collapse.
Molten anger flooded my veins, almost blinding me as I grabbed the man, punching him several times until he started to cough a large amount of blood.
How dare he hit her?!
From the corner of my eyes, I saw the man holding the knife charge at me with the knife in the air, using the moment of my distraction.
I quickly spun, allowing the other man I held to face him so that the silver knife sank deep into his chest.
The man holding the knife stared in horror as he saw his friend coughing out blood weakly before his head fell backward lifelessly.
“What did you do?!” He let out an agonizing scream, cupping the face of his dead friend.
Mortified by the number of littered bodies around, he raised his hands in surrender. Fear seized him.
“Please, don’t kill me,” he begged, dropping the knife to the ground.
“I won’t!” I bellowed, a deadly smirk forming at the end of my lips before I moved closer to him and knocked him off completely.
He would be useful in spilling the secrets of those behind the trafficking.
Lilith rushed to my side, examining my injured body before letting out a cry.
“I’m sorry…I don’t know what got into me.” She sniffed, wiping her tears with the back of her palm.
Before I could respond, I coughed weakly, grabbing the spot that was badly injured before giving her a look.
Droplets of blood spilled from my mouth as I let out a painful groan.
I tried to speak, but my strength failed me.
My breathing became harsh before air seized in my lungs completely.
Mortified, Lilith dashed to my side. Her body trembled as she was hit with confusion.
“Alpha! Please stay with me!”
“Please, don’t leave me, I don’t know what to do!”
Exhausted as I bled profusely, my head began to spin. I felt dizzy and my vision started to blur.
“R… u…n,” I struggled to speak with my last strength.
I didn’t want the last man to kidnap her when he had regained consciousness.
“Alpha, please. I will never run away again, I promise. I will do whatever you want.”
That was the last thing I heard before my knees parted in exhaustion and I collapsed on the floor.
