Lilith
Gazing at my phone for confirmation, I lifted my head to meet a lonely estate stationed in front of me.
The air was tense and quiet. It was as if I was walking into hell.
The large house seemed as if it was glaring at me, shooing me to leave.
The hostile environment bit deep into my skin.
It sprung a feeling of fear and discomfort.
Goosebumps started pebbling on my skin and my heart started to hammer hard against my ribs.
I doubted if there was a soul living in the large scary house.
Overgrown plants were scattered across the large area of land.
No one made a noise as the estate was secluded deep in the woods.
Even the melodies from the birds sounded like a warning.
For the first time, I felt I was walking into the devil’s chamber.
Before proceeding to open the gate as I was instructed, I went through the address again to be certain that I was in the right place.
“Here goes nothing.”
I muttered words of encouragement, taking deep breaths before entering into the estate.
The environment looked eerie and deserted. It seemed as if it was dominated by monsters that haunt at night.
Fear crept into me, quickening my steps as I made my way to the large mahogany double door that towered above me.
“Resume 7:00 am prompt.”
The warnings echoed in my head, accelerating my heartbeat.
It was like I could hear his voice, warning me about the danger of lateness.
How could I oversleep on the day of my interview?!
Despite meeting him once, I could picture his face in my mind, but this time, it was covered with a disappointed frown.
Fuck!
Slowly, I lifted my trembling hands, knocking on the door softly.
Almost immediately, a feminine voice was heard from inside.
The door opened to reveal a female in her late 20s wearing a cook’s uniform, a small towel in one of her hands, and her hair was neatly covered.
She smiled sweetly before ushering me in.
I shut the large entrance door quietly before walking behind her.
“You must be the lady that the Alpha has been waiting for,” she gave me a sweet look before walking away from me.
He was an Alpha?!
“Yes. My name is Lilith. I was supposed to be here earlier, I’m sorry I’m late. My pants ripped and I had to change it, plus this place is far from where I live,” I blurted, hoping it would reverse my punishment, but a sad smile crossed her face instead, damping my hope.
“Alpha doesn’t accept excuses. He detests lateness. I’m sorry, ” she sighed dejectedly before motioning me to sit on a chair close to me.
“I’d rather stand. Thank you,” I said, smiling.
“Give me a minute, I’ll let the Alpha know you are around.”
“Sure.”
As soon as she left, my eyes wandered to the chair and my mind engaged in a debate whether to sit or not.
No. I would sit all I want after I’ve been given this job, besides, I was too frightened to sit on anything in this scary house.
My eyes scanned the large room that looked like a drawing room.
It was covered in luxurious furniture.
Despite how expensive everything looked, there was something off.
Wasn’t the Alpha married?
The house looked like it needed a feminine touch.
It was too formal and any guest who arrived would want to leave in haste.
Maybe the Alpha and his Luna weren’t the type that entertained visitors.
Speaking of Luna, did he have a Luna?
My thoughts were interrupted by a furious aura and an angry voice that resonated throughout the room, stinging my ears.
Each heavy footstep he takes, made my heart sink further into my stomach.
The moment my eyes met with his, I could feel a burst of electric sensation dance along my skin, almost taking over me.
I didn’t know why I felt strangely drawn to him.
You are here for an interview, concentrate!
I scolded myself, before bowing briefly.
I couldn’t ignore his disgusted look as he scanned my body before his eyes rested on the HD wall clock.
“You are fired!”
My spirit plummeted at the sound of his words.
My body went numb and I didn’t know when I fell on my knees.
“Please, Alpha, I am sorry. I need this job. Everyone counts on me, I can’t afford to lose it on my first day. I promise it will never happen again.”
My eyes watered as I stared at his hardened gaze, hoping for the goddess to touch his rocky heart.
“I don’t know what I’d do if I lost this job. I’m begging.”
“I don’t care.” He spoke harshly before walking out on me.
“Raphael, get her out of here!”
