“Good. Now, focus on your breath and let your mind clear. Imagine a white light filling your body, starting from the crown of your head and flowing down to your toes.”
I did as he instructed, feeling my mind calm and my body relax. The white light began to fill me, and I could feel its glow spreading through my veins. It felt like another presence was within me, going around my body as it sought ways to escape.
I kept my eyes tightly closed, and my hands clenched at the sides as I tried to keep my focus on the light and the warmth spreading within, as that was what Devon instructed me to do.
“Next, I want you to visualize an exit within yourself,” he continued. “This door is locked, but it’s the key to unlocking your powers. Imagine yourself standing in front of this door, and focus on the sensation of the lock clicking open.” His voice was calm. Not that loud. It filled my entire body with warmth, one that propelled me forward, urging me to do everything he instructed me to.
I pictured the door in my mind, feeling a sense of anticipation building within me. As I focused on the lock, I could feel a subtle shift within myself, like a key turning in a lock.
The door creaked open, and a surge of energy flowed through me. I felt my powers stirring, like a sleeping giant awakening from a deep slumber.
The feeling was almost similar to the time I changed into my wolf, but it was more intense this time, almost like it wanted to drown me in a sea of warmth.
“You’re doing great. Now, let the vitality flow through you, and see where it takes you.” His voice flittered into my mind once more, the calm like an anchor to the stirring in my body, like it was trying to hold me, to find a safe ground where I could put my legs down…
I let go of my doubts and fears, allowing the energy to course through my veins. It was exhilarating and terrifying like riding a wild storm.
As the energy built up inside me, I felt myself being lifted out of my body, soaring through the air like a bird set free. I saw visions of ancient forests, shimmering waterfalls, and towering mountains. The world was alive, and I was a part of it. I sensed a great connection to the land, to the elements, and to the very fabric of reality.
When I finally returned to my body, I felt changed and transformed by the experience. I felt alive. It was as if all the feelings that were bottled deep within me were let loose. I felt free. Free. For the first time since I discovered I wasn’t a human like I thought.
I snapped my eyes open and fixed my gaze on him. His eyes shone with an admiration so deep it caused me to blush.
“You did it,” he said, his voice filled with awe. “You unlocked your powers.”
“Is this what it’s always like?” I flexed my right arm, looking at him with a smile. My eyes crinkled at the sides as I thought of the pranks I would play on my unsuspecting mate.
“How do you feel now?”
“Light.” I flexed my arms once more. Nothing changed physically. However, I felt a change deep within me.
“That’s how you are supposed to feel.” He nodded as he gave me a look. He was like a kung-fu master, teaching his students how to kick for the first time. “The first time you unlock your powers, you will feel light, as if you are a bird and could soar through the air, like a free spirit. To do whatever you wanted, and to take whatever you wished.”
“Exactly!” I smiled. He hit the nail on the head. This was how I felt. It was as if they exchanged my bones with feathers. “That’s exactly how I feel.”
“That’s how witches feel when they unlock their powers for the first time.” He reached out and patted my hair, only to freeze. Stepped back, he nervously kept his gaze on his toes.
I wanted to tell him it was okay, but I figured it would only make him feel more embarrassed. Instead of saying that, I just let him keep his gaze averted until he was okay.
When he returned his focus to me, the blush on his cheeks had long gone and his hair had returned to the red. The change to pink, when he was nervous, made me know why it always changed to pink most time. It always happened any time he was shy.
“Now, to the most tough part,” he said, clearing his throat as he fixed his eyes back on me.
“We still have something difficult to do?” I let out a sigh of frustration. I figured he would try to teach me how to use my powers, not something difficult.
He smiled at that. “Well, it’s not that difficult. After that, you can be free to do whatever you want. You are a hybrid, Bella. Of course, you need to merge your powers if you want to fully use your witch powers.”
“Okay, like merging my wolf with my witch side?”
“Exactly. So, are you ready?”
“What else can I do?” I grumbled, not appreciating this at all.
He chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement as he stepped back. “Well, I suppose you’re ready, then,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
I rolled my eyes at that, feeling a surge of annoyance. But I knew I had to do this, so I took a deep breath and nodded.
“Okay, let’s get this over with.” The earlier we get this done, the more time I would have to get him to teach me some tricks.
“Remember, this might be painful,” he warned. “But it’s necessary if you want to unlock your full potential.”
“I’m ready for anything. Let’s just do it.”
“If you said so.” He raised his hands, and I felt a surge of energy flow through me. My wolf side stirred, its power coursing through my veins like liquid fire.
I felt my witch side awakening, its magic swirling around me like a vortex. The two powers collided, merging into a single, blazing force that threatened to consume me whole.
I felt myself losing control, my body trembling with rage as the two forces merged. My vision blurred, and I felt myself being lifted off the ground, my body suspended mid-air by the sheer force of my magic. And as the two powers merged, I felt myself becoming something more, something powerful and wild and free.
The excitement was intense, a burning fire that threatened to consume me whole. But I knew I had to let it happen, to surrender to the power that was building inside me.
However, when I opened my eyes and saw Devon, I growled, my eyes narrowing as an intense rage took over, one that threatened to engulf me. At that moment, I didn’t see him as a friend, I saw him as a foe.
The voice in my head kept on asking me to kill, to rip him to pieces! The urge was too strong.
