“Lion, what if a little boy suddenly came to you, claiming to be your son, and a paternity test confirmed it? Wouldn’t you be shocked?”
“…”
Shocked? Absolutely!
He had slept with so many women, some whose names he couldn’t even remember! He couldn’t be one hundred percent sure that none of them had ulterior motives.
“But hasn’t Ulric always been clean? Could he be like me?” Lion chuckled. “Maybe in private, he’s even more adventurous than you and me!”
“That’s absolutely impossible! Ever since he left Rosalind, he’s been practically living at the company, always online.”
“Does being online stop him from doing those things?”
Johnny raised his voice, “Hey! Why do you have such hostility towards Ulric?”
Even someone as insensitive as him could feel it.
“I’m just stating the facts.” Lion laughed. “Alright, let me know if it’s really his son. I’d love to hear the gossip.”
“Screw you!”
Johnny hung up the phone.
He was about to ask Ulric where he was when Sirena started calling him frantically.
Johnny didn’t want to answer but accidentally pressed the wrong button.
Sirena’s urgent voice came through, “Where are you? I… I think I’m having a heart attack…”
“What?” Johnny was stunned. “Since when did you have a heart condition?”
“Never mind that now. Can you come pick me up and take me to the hospital?”
Johnny instinctively wanted to agree, but… but the kid was still sleeping. Should he wake him up now?
“Johnny… are you going to ignore me too?” Sirena’s voice sounded genuinely distressed, as if she might faint any second.
“Alright, I’m coming over! Send me your location.”
“Okay.”
Johnny was soft-hearted after all.
He walked over to the bed and looked at the still-sleeping Jake, unable to help but smile.
After all these years… he finally got to see what Ulric looked like when he slept! He must look exactly like this kid.
Johnny didn’t want to leave him alone and feared he might wake up scared, so he instructed his assistant to come over immediately before leaving himself.
He figured it would only be half an hour before someone else would be in the room. Nothing should happen during that time.
…
Johnny drove to the location Sirena had sent.
It was really remote; he had no idea Sirena had come out here to live!
Not only was it far from the city, but it wasn’t close to W Group either.
“Why are you living here?”
Johnny helped her out carefully and opened the car door for her.
“I’ve been feeling restless lately, not sleeping well. I thought I’d come here for some peace…” Sirena still looked pained, clutching her chest tightly.
Johnny glanced at the almost wilderness-like surroundings and frowned.
“You really know how to pick a place.”
Sirena shot him a look of displeasure. “Stop mocking me. If you don’t want to help, you can leave and let me die here alone!”
“… I didn’t say anything!”
Johnny pursed his lips, started the car engine, and set up navigation for the hospital.
Before they could drive off, his phone rang!
Suddenly, Sirena grabbed his arm tightly. “Ah… it hurts!”
