“Not enough? Then have another peck.”
Smack!
“Feels good. One more…”
Darnell kissed Areli seven times in a row.
Not only was Areli stunned, but David and his group were also furious. It was a blatant provocation.
Areli glared at Darnell, wanting to push him away but knowing it was inappropriate. She had to endure it for now, but she vowed to settle the score later.
Tia grew colder, looking at them with a sense of unfamiliarity.
Darnell provocatively looked at Bella and her group. “The beast and the beauty finally get together, and Snow White’s evil stepmother in pink can do nothing but suck it!”
His words were highly provocative, directly insulting Bellal in pink.
Bella was initially stunned, then became furious, wanting to flip the table. However, she was stopped by the young man with glasses. “Bella, don’t make trouble.”
Bella was enraged. “Elvis, he’s insulting me.”
Kendra patted her head. “Why bother with him? You promised me you wouldn’t cause trouble if we took you out.”
Bella had no choice but to sit back down but harbored a grudge against Darnell. “Damn it! If he keeps angering me, I’ll make one call and finish him off.”
The young man in military boots laughed and comforted her, “Bella, don’t be angry. We’ll get back at him later.” He then turned to Elvis Needham and Kendra and said, “Elvis, Kendra, although Bella is willful, that guy is too arrogant.”
“We’re supposed to keep a low profile this time out, but we can’t let a nobody tramp on us either.”
He also disliked Darnell or rather couldn’t stand seeing a poor guy going up against the noble.
He hoped he could put Darnell in his place. Nobles were not to be trifled with.
Bella’s eyes lit up instantly, “Finn, you can kill a wolf with one punch. Teach him a lesson for me later.”
“I didn’t expect someone in this damn place to have the nerve to mess with me. It really pisses me off.”
Finn Peel laughed heartily, his eyes showing contempt. “Don’t worry. That moment will come.”
“What are you doing?”
At that moment, David pointed angrily at Darnell. “You dare kiss Areli? I’ll kill you.”
He rolled up his sleeves, ready to charge forward.
As Areli’s eyes turned cold at their clamor, Darnell ignored their fury and smiled at David,
“Mr. Kemp, does that slap from yesterday still hurt?”
With these words, silence fell overthe people at present. Everyone stared at David in shock.
Bella and her group also looked over with undisguised astonishment.
Dozens of people were incredulous. David got slapped by Darnell?
How was that possible? How could David be slapped by Darnell? If he really got slapped, how could Darnell still be standing here?
Moreover, it seemed no one knew about this incident.
Areli also looked at Darnell, not knowing what had happened either.
Although they thought David’s circle wasn’t very high-class, they knew he had some standing in Whiteville as one of the top three young masters there.
His father was the Director of Commerce. His connections were not much less than those of Whiteville’s Mayor. Hearing that Darnell slapped him made them more interested. Finn slightly tilted his head.
“Bella, check his background.”
Bella happily took out her phone and used her connections to investigate Darnell’s background. Soon, she received feedback.
“Background untraceable.”
She frowned slightly and made a judgment. “No background at all.”
Kendra squinted her eyes thoughtfully.
At that moment, David’s eyes flashed with anger. His slapped cheek suddenly hurt again. He then sneered,
“That slap doesn’t hurt anymore, but rest assured, I will repay you tenfold.”
Being frank was better than hiding. Otherwise, it would only lead to more embellishment by others. He pointed at Darnell and said,
“He not only slapped me but also smashed all four of my car windows and broke two headlights. It cost me over twenty grand to repair my car.”
“I wanted to pay him back on the spot, but I’m not barbaric.”
“When a dog bites a person, does the person bite back?”
David had to be given credit for being talented. These few words were artfully spoken, admitting his humiliation while painting Darnell as a barbarian.
Sure enough, after these words fell, everyone’s shocked gazes turned complex. They showed sympathy for David and disdain for Darnell.
Areli pulled Darnell aside and whispered, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Darnell smiled. “Mr. Kemp sent people to beat me up but failed, so I smashed his car. I couldn’t help it. I’m vindictive like that.”
He arrogantly provoked David. “Anyway, I slapped Mr. Kemp, and he can’t do anything about it.”
These words made David’s cronies step forward angrily. They pointed at Darnell while shouting, “What did you say? Do you want your skin peeled off?”
Darnell glanced over this group of people and smirked, “If it’s a fight you want, I don’t mind warming up early in the morning.”
In the distance, Finn sneered disdainfully, “Arrogant enough.”
Bella boasted, “No matter how arrogant he is, he’ll be trampled by us eventually. Finn, do you want to go beat him up?”
Elvis lightly tapped the table, reminding them, “Don’t fight publicly. It looks bad.”
Finn nodded, playfully smiling.
“Mr. Kemp is a gentleman. How could he fight?”
By now, their commotion had attracted quite some attention. Due to etiquette, no one came over directly, but they all turned their heads, watching events unfold.
Jazmine moved closer to David, gently tugging his sleeve and smilingly saying, “If he wanted to beat you up, he would’ve done so yesterday.”
“Mr. Halford, you may be strong, but ultimately, you’re no match for David’s connections. Or, do you want to turn against the Kemp family and the police?”
A gleam flashed through Jazmine’s eyes as she continued, “David’s anger just now was because he cares too much about Miss Fanshaw. Why were you so hostile to David, Mr. Halford?”
Jazmine’s voice suddenly became melodious yet still carried underlying sharpness.
“Even if there were grudges, David would resolve them civilly, not violently.”
Her words hid a dagger behind a smile.
Hearing Jazmine’s words and recognizing that they were in a public place, David knew he couldn’t afford to lose his manners, lest he bring trouble upon himself and his family.
After all, cameras were everywhere these days, and besides, Darnell was quite skilled in hand-to-hand combat. Even Tia and Garrett couldn’t handle him, so taking action would be a disadvantage.
Therefore, he barely suppressed his anger and waved to stop his companions’ shouting. “That’s right. We are gentlemen.”
“I would never fight with you. Bullying someone with numbers is not my style.”
Darnell chuckled, “As a man, you don’t even know how to fight? What a coward.”
David’s face turned cold. “Shut up!”
Areli also pinched Darnell hard. This man couldn’t speak without offending.
Jazmine looked at Darnell with disdain, but knowing she was no match for Darnell in a verbal duel, she interjected with a veiled jab,
“Resolving issues with violence only indicates a lack of class. How about this? Since we are at a golf course, you can settle your grudges with a game.”
David’s eyes lit up. He stared at Darnell and challenged, “Darnell, how about a game of golf?”
“If I win, you leave Areli and never show up in front of me again.”
With an air of arrogance, David continued, “If you win, I will stop pestering Areli.”
He wanted to see Darnell make a fool of himself. In his view, how could a bumpkin like Darnell possibly know how to play golf?
Even if Darnell had some skills, he would definitely not be a match for his professional level. David believed as long as Darnell lost the game and was humiliated, Areli would despise him.
This would also allow Areli to know he was better than Darnell!
Jazmine looked at Areli, saying, “I’ll join in the fun. If I win, Miss Fanshaw, you have to apologize to me and fire Darnell.”
“If Darnell wins, I’ll sign a fifty-million contract with you right here on the spot.”
