“Shut up!”
Jazmine was furious after being repeatedly embarrassed. Her well-planned reprimand was completely disrupted by Darnell, making it impossible to continue the conversation.
Jazmine, a proud woman, couldn’t tolerate being humiliated like this. However, she felt that losing her temper at Darnell would be beneath her.
Thus, she turned to Areli and scolded, “Miss Fanshaw, you shouldn’t have had someone like him around you and brought him along to such a prestigious place.”
“Look at him. He is more like a pallbearer than a chauffeur. What an eyesore!”
She raised her fair neck slightly like a proud peacock. “You disappoint me.”
Her female companions behind her covered their mouths and laughed lightly, looking at Darnell with obvious disdain.
“Miss Fanshaw’s taste in men is indeed bad.”
Areli’s pretty face changed. When she was about to defend Darnell, Darnell stepped forward and said happily,
“Miss Picton, your insight is truly sharp and unique. You saw right through my previous occupation.”
“I’m an honest person and won’t hide it from everyone.”
“I did work as a pallbearer before. I used to send off ten or eight people like Miss Picton every year.”
Areli almost burst out laughing.
Jazmine’s cocky face twisted instantly. “What did you say?”
Several noblewomen also scolded sternly, “Young man, watch your mouth!”
“Do you know who you’re talking to? How dare you offend Miss Picton?”
“Apologize immediately, or you’ll pay the price.”
“Why should I apologize? I admit I was a pallbearer.”
Darnell replied innocently, “And a senior one at that. My clients were those of Miss Picton’s status.”
“If you don’t believe me…”
“Shut up!”
Jazmine’s face turned ugly. She could tell Darnell was mocking her but couldn’t find any fault in his words. She could only vent her anger on Areli.
“Miss Fanshaw, with such despicable people around you, I seriously doubt the professionalism and authority of Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.”
Darnell exhaled deeply and cheerfully took over the conversation. “Miss Picton, you’ve misunderstood.”
“Miss Fanshaw has many high-level assistants. All of them are from Oxford, Stanford University, and other prestigious institutions.”
“But for certain clients, only certain talents are suitable. For a client like Miss Picton, only someone like me can handle it.”
Darnell sighed, “Look at me. You also see me as scum, right?”
He indirectly called Jazmine scum.
Jazmine roared angrily, “What nonsense are you spouting?”
The noblewomen around her also flared up.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you challenge Miss Picton?”
“A bumpkin who doesn’t know his place!”
“This is not the place for such a lack of manners!”
If not for their status constraints, they might have torn Darnell apart on the spot. It was the first time someone had dared to trample on them like this.
Darnell ignored their snide remarks and honestly asked, “Am I not scum?”
“You!”
Jazmine trembled with rage, her face turning red. Darnell spoke reasonably, and she couldn’t find words to refute him.
But someone like her, used to being high and mighty, couldn’t stand being mocked by a mere chauffeur, and she utterly lost her head.
“Someone get him out of here!”
Darnell widened his eyes. “This is a golf course, not your bedroom. How can you kick me out?”
Jazmine was momentarily speechless and then looked at Areli with an angry smile. “Miss Fanshaw, you’ve raised a good dog. I’m impressed.”
“I originally wanted to discuss cooperation with you and place an order worth $200 million.”
“But now it seems unnecessary.”
“If you still want the order, kick this guy out of here. No, fire him!”
Her eyes gleamed with venomous light. “Otherwise, I’ll give all the orders we were going to discuss today to your competitor, Pioneer Properties.”
Darnell stared at Jazmine as he said seriously, “There must be some misunderstanding. I don’t remember Miss Fanshaw pet a dog named ‘Miss Picton’.”
Jazmine suppressed her anger and sneered at Areli. “Miss Fanshaw, you need to give me an explanation.”
Areli’s eyelids twitched as she looked at Darnell and then at the aggressive Jazmine before replying calmly,
“Miss Picton, I really want to cooperate with the Harmony Hospital and know that securing your orders would greatly benefit both the company and myself.”
“That’s also why I came to see you today.”
“But I will never trample on my employees just to make you happy.”
Areli spoke coldly, “So your request is something I cannot fulfill and will never fulfill.”
“And let me tell you this. You can point fingers at me but never humiliate my subordinates. This time, I’ll let you off the hook out of respect,”
“But next time…” Areli’s tone suddenly changed as she exuded an air of dominance. “I’ll make you sorry!”
“Who do you think you are to scold my men?”
“Whether I can secure this order or not won’t make me rich or starve me to death without it.”
“If you respect me, I’ll respect you. If you pick on me, I’ll repay it tenfold.”
Darnell was startled by Areli’s sudden outburst. The ice-cold beauty erupted so passionately that he almost wanted to pledge himself to her.
Sensing Areli’s pride and strength like a lioness defending her cubs made Jazmine’s group hesitate momentarily as they’d never seen this side of Areli before.
In their impression, she was always cold and indifferent, often responding with cold stares when mocked rather than displaying such arrogance.
However, Jazmine quickly recovered and pointed at Darnell as she said, “Miss Fanshaw sure has guts.”
“But I don’t think you can withstand losing such lucrative deals.”
“If you take back what you just said, apologize to me, and kick this guy out, I’ll place an order worth $30 million.”
Jazmine took out a stack of contracts and slammed them on the table. “And I’ll sign them now!”
Areli remained unmoved.
Jazmine shouted, “$50 million!”
Areli looked at Darnell. “Let’s go!”
Jazmine flaunted her wealth. “$100 million!”
Areli turned back with a mocking smile. “Miss Picton, I’ve said before. I won’t abandon my principles and pride just to please you.”
“So even with $1 billion, I don’t care. We’re leaving. Enjoy yourselves.”
Jazmine’s face completely darkened as she threatened viciously, “Areli, don’t be ridiculous. I’m capable of anything. I’ll ruin you if necessary.”
“With my extensive connections in the medical field, a single word from me can blacklist Spectrum Pharmaceuticals. Spectrum Pharmaceuticals will be finished by then.”
Areli ignored her threat, taking Darnell along without looking back.
Darnell scurried along beside her, his demeanor submissive. “Miss Fanshaw, thank you for standing up for me.”
Areli’s eyes glinted with a cold light. “It’s nothing. If she doesn’t respect me, naturally, I won’t respect her either.”
Darnell’s face fell instantly. This woman could be just as ruthless without shedding blood.
“What’s all the fuss about?”
At that moment, a voice lazily drifted over from the side. “Both of you are great beauties and famous figures. It’s not good to argue like this.”
Darnell glanced over, realizing they were in for another encounter. The newcomers were none other than David and the girl in pink, Bella Carlill.
Another fine drama was about to unfold.
