Facing Judith’s sharp eyes, Darnell knew it would be hard to hide the truth but still smiled brightly.
“I originally wanted to do a good deed anonymously, but since Officer Meech has come to find me, I must admit.”
“Yes, I injured Nick and his men and subdued Carson, but they provoked me first.”
“Nick and his men attacked me, and Carson was so vicious he even killed police officers. My actions should count as self-defense, right?”
“Officer Meech, you wouldn’t think I used excessive force and want to have me arrested, would you?”
Darnell spoke slowly, “If that’s the case, I would lose faith in you and the laws of Westergold.”
“No one said you broke the law. But since you acted, you should have informed the police and assisted in the investigation.”
Judith scrutinized Darnell as she said, “We could also give you a good citizen award.”
Darnell’s eyes lit up. “An award?”
“Yes.”
Judith smiled gently, “Just tell me your background, and I’ll immediately give you a $100, 000 reward.”
Darnell was taken aback. “What background?”
Judith’s face turned cold. “Who are you? Why are you staying by Areli’s side as an assistant?”
In her view, someone like Darnell who could subdue Carson must have ulterior motives for staying at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.
Otherwise, with his skills and abilities, how could Spectrum Pharmaceuticals keep him?
Darnell opened his mouth slightly and then answered honestly, “I am the legendary warrior, having killed countless people with blood-stained hands.”
“I came to Whiteville on a mission to protect the beautiful Miss Fanshaw closely, so I tried every means to enter Spectrum Pharmaceuticals to protect her well.”
“The legendary warrior?”
Judith didn’t believe it at all. “Have you read too many novels? You might as well say you’re Batman.”
Darnell was very dissatisfied. “I’m telling the truth. Why don’t you believe me?”
“You won’t say? Fine, I’ll find out sooner or later. Considering you’ve dealt with Carson and treated Areli well, I won’t touch you for now.”
Judith spoke fiercely, “You better not have any designs on Areli. She’s my best friend. If you hurt her, I’ll shoot you dead.”
“And you’d better not cause trouble in Whiteville. I’ll be watching you. If you do anything wrong, I’ll put you in jail.”
Then she pointed towards the door and shouted, “Now get out.”
Darnell got angry.
He did a good deed without asking for an award but was treated like a criminal and warned against being watched. He couldn’t tolerate it.
He turned around, grabbed Judith’s wrist sharply, twisted it, lifted her up, and threw her onto the bed.
Judith’s face changed. She instinctively wanted to react but saw Darnell pounce towards her.
A momentum like a beast hunting surged down like a waterfall with thunderous force.
His strength and aura were unmatched.
Judith was instantly intimidated by this momentum. She felt like a lamb and forgot to resist.
Darnell pressed Judith firmly on the bed. As her heart pounded violently, his violent killing intent suddenly retracted.
In her vision appeared Darnell’s grinning face again.
The next second, she felt a hand slip under her towel and her leg being grabbed hard.
“You kicked me and warned me. I touched you once. We’re even now. From now on, let’s stay out of each other’s way.”
Darnell released Judith with a smile. “Your skin is quite smooth.”
Judith came back to her senses and looked at Darnell with murderous intent. She accurately reached under the bed for a gun to shoot this bastard.
“The Flying Little Policewoman, a gun, and roses.”
Darnell added, “Officer Meech is quite wild too. Can police officers have tattoos?”
Judith’s body stiffened at his words. Her anger surged again. This was her thigh tattoo. She didn’t expect Darnell to notice it.
How did this bastard discover it? By looking or touching?
At that moment, Judith wanted to kill him.
“Are you done talking?”
At this point, the door opened as Areli walked in impatiently. “Why are you talking so long?”
“It’s nothing.”
Darnell smiled brightly, “Officer Meech asked many questions and talked about things like The Flying Little Policewoman, guns, and roses.”
Was he threatening her?
Judith stood up with beautiful eyes containing anger but still nodded slightly. “Darnell is quite nice.”
“Glad you seem to get along.”
Areli smiled reassuringly before softly reminding Judith, “You should go to the bathroom and put on your clothes first.”
Judith then realized she was exposed and bit her lip before nodding slightly but quickly glared at Darnell again. “Give me my clothes!”
Only then did Darnell notice he had been holding onto her clothes in his left hand all along. Feeling embarrassed, he quickly threw them on the bed before retreating swiftly towards the door.
He worried that this fiery policewoman might attack him violently.
Judith grabbed all her clothes in one go. “Areli, kick him out while I take another shower.”
Thinking about kissing Darnell made Judith both ashamed and angry.
While Judith went to change clothes in the bathroom again, Areli dragged Darnell outside before closing the door behind them with raised eyebrows. “You scoundrel!”
She didn’t want Darnell to fight with her best friend, so she spoke up for him earlier, but that didn’t mean she’d let him off easily now.
Darnell looked innocent as he squeezed out words, “Miss Fanshaw, I have three points to make. First, I burst into the room because no one answered the doorbell, and you didn’t pick up your phone. I was worried something had happened to you. Second, I grabbed her lingerie because the wind from the balcony just blew it up. I instinctively caught it, no other meaning.”
Darnell felt uneasy about Judith’s accusation. “Third, I really have no ill intentions towards her. She’s so fiery. How dare I offend her?”
“You will believe me, right?”
Areli recalled the closed balcony in the bedroom and pursed her lips, looking at Darnell with a hint of mischief. “The balcony was closed just now.”
Darnell added with a dejected face. “I opened the door, trying to find you.”
Although this was the truth, Darnell felt even he couldn’t believe it.
“Sit still!”
Areli exhaled before she said, “I’m going to wash up and change clothes before we talk about this.”
Darnell sat down on the sofa with a gloomy face. “Miss Fanshaw, believe me. I’m really innocent.”
However, as he sat down, his eyes still glanced at Areli’s thighs, a figure that was truly tempting.
Ten minutes later, Areli walked out with a cold expression. The freshly showered woman smelled very fragrant, as delicate as a flower.
“What are you looking at?”
Seeing Darnell’s bright eyes, Areli felt a slight joy in her heart, then she put on a stern face and scolded, “Always leering.”
“To hold the power of life and death in one’s palm and to lie drunk in a beauty’s lap, these are a man’s two great dreams.”
Darnell chuckled softly, “As for the power of life and death, it’s too difficult. I’m not interested. So that leaves the beauty’s lap, so it’s normal to be leering.”
“Besides, Miss Fansahw, you dress so beautifully and sexily, isn’t it for men to look at? Otherwise, you could just wear any nightgown out.”
“You’re such a scoundrel, always talking nonsense.”
Areli snorted, “Tell me, how did you get in here?”
“Huh?”
Darnell was taken aback. “Miss Fanshaw, aren’t you supposed to determine whether I’m a peeping Tom or if I have ulterior motives?”
Areli’s eyebrows shot up. “Tell me, how did you get into my house?”
Darnell’s eyes spun, and he quickly figured out the reason, his smile suddenly brightening.
“Miss Fanshaw, you didn’t question my motives. You must have secretly checked the surveillance on your phone just now, truly recreating my anxiety and worry when I rushed into the room.”
Areli’s pretty face turned cold. “What do you mean ‘secretly’? This is my home, and it’s normal for me to check the surveillance.”
However, this inadvertently confirmed Darnell’s guess. She felt a bit frustrated and snapped, “Tell me quickly. How do you know my house password and enter with fingerprints?”
Her eyes were bright. “When did you steal my password and fingerprints?”
In these ten minutes, Areli not only took a shower and changed clothes but also checked the surveillance, proving Darnell’s innocence but also finding the problem.
“If you don’t want to die, tell me honestly, or I’ll erase the surveillance later and let Judith beat you to a pulp.”
“You can’t frame me!”
Darnell protested immediately upon hearing this, “You should know that I rang the doorbell dozens of times, and no one opened the door. That’s why I broke in.”
“The password was what you told me when you were drunk last time, and the fingerprints were yours. Miss Fanshaw, you can’t wrong a good person.”
As Areli thought of the madness of that night, her pretty face couldn’t help but blush, and she stamped her foot, retorting, “I told you the password so you could take me home, not for you to break in without permission, Darnell. I want you to forget it right now and get rid of the fingerprints for me, or I won’t let you off the hook.”
Darnell sighed, “These days, it’s really hard to be a good person.”
“Forget the password! Understand?”
Areli reminded him while glancing at him. “You wait here. I’m going to communicate with Judith.”
“If this misunderstanding isn’t cleared up, your life will be miserable from now on.”
Darnell seemed unfazed. “Why should I be afraid of an unreasonable woman? Besides, I was the one who got scared and fainted. I’m the victim.”
Before he finished speaking, the door slammed open, and Judith strode out, her demeanor full of anger. “I’m unreasonable?”
“Darnell, not only suspected of fighting and conspiring with a fugitive, but also breaking into a bedroom, grabbing me, touching me, and biting my lips…”
Darnell slammed the table and stood up. “You’re framing me! It was an accident. You fell and blocked my mouth yourself…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, and Darnell turned and ran, realizing he had spoken out of turn. How could he know she fell if he was unconscious?
Judith rushed into the kitchen and pulled out two kitchen knives.
