“Scoundrel!”
Judith had no idea how Darnell ended up in the apartment or why he screamed and fainted.
All she knew was that this jerk had taken advantage of her at the repair shop and now had seen most of her. At this point, his annoying face was lying on top of her, making her both ashamed and furious.
So, after cursing him, she kicked towards Darnell’s waist, not caring if he was truly unconscious or faking it. She just wanted to vent her anger.
However, before her pale foot could touch Darnell’s waist, his left hand came up, and two fingers pressed against the sole of Judith’s foot.
“Ah!”
A surge of energy flowed into her foot, causing Judith’s left leg to go limp instantly. She lost her balance and stumbled towards the bed where Darnell lay.
Darnell, who had been pretending to be unconscious, was shocked. Damn it! She should have fallen backward with that push. Why did she fall forward?
This misjudgment caused Darnell to react a beat too slow. Just as he tried to move away, Judith’s fragrant lips pressed against him.
“You rogue!”
Judith’s cheeks turned red with embarrassment. She quickly got off Darnell, took a few steps back, and shouted in anger,
“I’ll kill you!”
She grabbed a chair and aimed it at Darnell. This bastard had stolen her first kiss.
“Judith, what’s going on?”
At that moment, Areli rushed into the bedroom dressed in gray sportswear. She had clearly heard the commotion.
Seeing Judith lifting her dressing stool, Areli dashed forward in fright and hugged Judith’s waist before she asked,
“Judith, what happened?”
Judith’s face was filled with murderous intent. “There’s a thief in the house.”
Areli was startled again and was about to ask where the thief was when she saw Darnell on the bed. “Darnell? Why are you lying on the bed?”
Darnell didn’t respond, lying there stiffly.
Areli raised her voice. “Darnell!”
There was still no movement from Darnell.
Judith gripped the stool, muttering under her breath, “You won’t wake him up by calling. One hit with this stool will do it.”
“Judith, don’t be impulsive. This might be a misunderstanding.”
Areli raised her voice again and shouted at Darnell, “Darnell!”
“Ugh!”
Darnell groaned and slowly opened his eyes, looking confused. “Who’s calling me?”
“Ah!”
He screamed again as he sat up on the bed, touching his clothes and looking at Judith.
“Where am I? What happened? What did you do to me?”
Seeing Darnell’s Oscar-worthy performance, Judith was seething with anger. “You bastard! Keep pretending.”
“No matter how much you pretend, I won’t let you off.”
Then she shouted to her friend, “Areli, let go of me. I’m going to break this guy’s legs.”
She accused Darnell directly, “Breaking into private property, stealing belongings, peeping while bathing, and attempting rape.”
Her voice was icy cold. “You are dead!”
Darnell’s mouth dropped open. Could a righteous police officer twist the truth like this? These accusations were serious!
“Judith, what exactly happened?”
Areli held onto her friend tightly. She knew Judith’s fiery temper and shouted at Darnell, “Darnell, why are you here?”
Seeing Judith’s frosty gaze, Darnell scrambled away as he explained, “Miss Fanshaw, you asked me to pick you up to meet a client yesterday.”
“I rang the doorbell dozens of times but no one answered. The door wasn’t locked. I was worried something happened to you.”
“So I kicked open the door and rushed in. I didn’t see you in the living room, so I entered the bedroom. Just as I looked around, she came out.”
“You know I have gynophobia, especially towards beautiful women. I fainted and don’t know what happened afterward.”
Darnell looked aggrieved. “When I woke up, she was about to hit me.”
“Areli, he is lying!”
Judith didn’t believe a word Darnell said. Her eyes locked onto the underwear in his hand. Her face turned red again from either anger or embarrassment.
“He came in to take advantage of you but ran into me instead. This guy has a history. He even harassed me at the auto repair shop…”
She wanted to say he groped her but felt embarrassed and could only say harshly,
“In any case, don’t believe him. Don’t get involved either. Leave him to me. A good beating will make him behave.”
Her eyes turned cold as she continued, “With my years of experience as a police officer, he’s definitely not a good person.”
Areli frowned. Although she knew Darnell was a jerk, he shouldn’t be a peeping tom. She whispered,
“Judith, calm down. There might really be a misunderstanding here. His name is Darnell. I did call him to pick me up in the morning.”
“Let me talk to him and understand the situation.”
“Don’t worry. He’s my assistant, with millions in commissions owed. He won’t risk his career, or run away either.”
Judith was slightly taken aback. She hadn’t expected Areli to speak for Darnell and seemed quite familiar with him. She then looked at Darnell again.
This guy is too cunning.
She took a deep breath and smiled at Areli, “Areli, remember last night when I called you to confirm where your Porsche was?”
Areli nodded. “Yes. I told you it was at the repair shop.”
“It’s involved in an assault case.”
Judith looked at Darnell, “No, more precisely, it’s Darnell who’s involved in the case. Of course, it’s not serious, and the injured are just thugs.”
“Areli, go outside for a shower and change your clothes. Give me some space to question Darnell about this case.”
Areli looked surprised. “Involved in a case?” She glanced at Darnell before she continued, “You hit someone?”
Darnell forced a smile, “No.”
“It wasn’t hitting someone.”
Judith tried to soften her tone as she said, “It’s about Darnell getting into a fight, not serious but still a case.”
“Let me talk to him so I can close it. Otherwise, my colleagues will come looking for him sooner or later.”
Darnell also smiled at Areli, “Miss Fanshaw, go have some water outside while I talk with Officer Meech for a bit. I’ll tell you everything afterward.”
Areli thought for a moment and nodded. “Alright, I’ll let you two talk alone for a while, but don’t get physical. We can discuss things calmly.”
After speaking, Areli left the room and closed the door behind her.
Darnell grinned cheekily, “Officer Meech, what do we talk about? Alone man and woman…”
Judith’s expression turned cold as she swiftly kicked towards Darnell without saying another word.
Startled, Darnell rolled off the bed just in time to avoid her fierce kick.
Before he could steady himself, Judith leaped onto the bed with one swift motion. Her long legs attacked like a tornado.
Faced with such an assaulting force from Judith’s legs, powerful yet graceful, Darnell could only dodge occasionally, blocking with his hands while his eyes couldn’t help but glance between Judith’s legs.
“You scoundrel.”
Catching sight of where Darnell’s gaze fell made Judith even more furious. She stomped hard on the ground, launching herself into the air, spinning mid-air, and kicking rapidly towards him.
Feeling immense force coming along with hidden undercurrents within each kick made him realize how formidable she really was. Faced with her dazzling leg techniques and having nowhere to retreat, Darnell made no further moves. Instead, he twisted his waist and turned his hips to sweep outwards.
Judith’s attacks were completely disrupted by that one strike.
She let out a muffled grunt and staggered back a few steps before regaining her balance, her pretty face showing surprise, as if she hadn’t expected Darnell to easily deflect her assault.
“Officer Meech, can we stop fighting? I was wrong to barge in and see you bathing.”
Darnell wore a helpless expression. “If you keep hitting me, I’ll call for help.”
“Darnell, you really are something.”
Judith sneered, “I can now conclude that it was you who attacked Nick and injured Carson.”
Darnell was taken aback. Damn it. He had fallen for it. This woman was cunning indeed.
