After leaving the alley, Darnell quickly ran back to the company as soon as he received a call from Lillian. Areli wanted to see him.
Before heading back, he took some time to buy a few snacks since the takeout was smashed and inedible.
It was already past four o’clock, and the entire company was relatively quiet.
When Darnell appeared at Areli’s office door, Lillian was leaning back in her chair, rubbing her eyes and relaxing. Her white thighs were quite eye-catching.
Darnell smiled as he approached. “Miss Snow, rubbing your eyes won’t help you relax. You need a shoulder massage.”
“Come on, let me help you relax.”
Today, Lillian was dressed in a work uniform, a black skirt and a white shirt with two buttons undone, revealing an enticing glimpse of her skin.
Hearing Darnell’s voice, Lillian opened her eyes and glanced at him with annoyance. “You rascal, you’re up to no good.”
“If I were up to no good, why would I save you twice?”
Darnell opened the takeout container, revealing some burritos, and placed a coffee in front of Lillian with a smile before he added, “And why would I bring you food?”
“Wow, burrito! Great!”
Seeing the food, Lillian immediately felt cheerful. She grabbed one with a napkin and started eating, commenting, “You’re considerate.”
“Take your time. By the way, why does Miss Fanshaw want to see me?”
Darnell moved behind Lillian and placed his hands on her shoulders, massaging them with moderate force. “Good news or bad news?”
Lillian’s body initially tensed but quickly relaxed under Darnell’s touch. This guy’s massage was so comfortable.
While eating the burrito and enjoying the shoulder massage, she didn’t notice Darnell’s appreciative gaze lingering on her chest.
“Judging by Miss Fanshaw’s expression, it should be good news.”
“She knows you secured Chandler’s order and asked me to notify you to come to the office.”
Darnell responded in an excited tone, clearly pleased, “Looks like she’s going to reward me.”
As he spoke, he applied more pressure with his fingers.
“Ah!”
Lillian couldn’t hold back any longer and let out a comfortable moan. Not only were her shoulders relaxed, but she also felt an indescribable sense of ease.
“Darnell!”
At that moment, the door suddenly opened. Areli appeared in white attire, looking cold.
“I told you to see me before four o’clock. It’s now five past four. Instead of coming in immediately, you’re flirting with my assistant at the door.”
“Do you have any discipline? Do you respect me at all?”
For some reason, seeing Darnell so close to Lillian, especially when Lillian had food while she had nothing, made Areli feel somewhat displeased. Her tone turned icy as she continued, “Considering you signed the contract today, I’ll forgive you this time. Don’t let it happen again.”
Seeing Areli appear and hearing her sharp words, Lillian quickly put away her food under the table and blushed as she looked through some documents, feeling very awkward.
Darnell nonchalantly stretched and smiled as he moved away from Lillian. “Miss Fanshaw, you misunderstood me.”
“I saw Miss Snow working hard all day, so I brought her some food and gave her a shoulder massage to relax.”
He added with a grin, “It’s just concern between colleagues.”
“If Miss Snow feels better, she’ll work more efficiently. Won’t that make Miss Fanshaw happy too?”
“If she’s happy, you’re happy. If you’re happy, I’m happy.”
Under Areli’s mocking gaze, Darnell kept smiling brightly. “You know I always enjoy helping others.”
“Whether it’s packing meals for colleagues or being used as a shield by them or coming to their aid in dangerous situations, I never hesitate.”
“So I’m not flirting. It’s just my nature…”
Areli snorted, “A few days without seeing you and you’re still sharp-tongued. I thought you’d changed in the sales department.”
Darnell leisurely replied, “If we weren’t sharp-tongued in the sales department, wouldn’t the company suffer?”
Areli’s eyes turned cold. “Stop arguing. I’m not in the mood to bicker with you. Come in quickly. I have something to discuss with you.”
After saying that, she turned and went back into her office. Darnell touched Lillian’s ear playfully and picked up another bag of packed food before entering.
“Remember, during work hours, don’t flirt with my assistant again. Otherwise, I’ll send you to the suburban warehouse.”
As soon as Darnell closed the door properly, Areli spoke coldly, “After work hours, do whatever you want.”
Darnell explained, “Miss Fanshaw, I’m really not flirting.”
“Not flirting? And yet you specifically bought her food?”
Areli sneered, “When did you start being so nice?”
“I didn’t just buy it for her.”
Darnell smiled as he lifted the bag and took out an exquisite food container, placing it in front of Areli before he continued, “I bought some for you too.”
Darnell swiftly arranged the food in front of Areli and handed her the steaming hot black tea for her. “Try it. It’s good.”
“It’s much better than coffee and can replenish your energy.”
He picked up a burrito and brought it to Areli’s enticing lips. “Here, have one.”
Areli was taken aback. She hadn’t expected this rascal to buy her food too, such abundant treats, and felt a bit sweet inside.
She instinctively bit into the burrito Darnell offered. The fragrance filled her mouth instantly, warming her whole being.
She hummed discontentedly, “You’re considerate after all.”
Then she nodded toward the scones with her chin. Darnell immediately picked one up for her.
Areli ate happily with a soft smile. She suddenly realized that being pampered wasn’t bad at all.
After finishing eating, she pulled out car keys from her drawer, the red Porsche keys, and threw them over. “The car is still at the repair shop. I don’t have time to pick it up.”
“You can get it these days and don’t have to return the keys to me.”
“The company assigned me an official car temporarily. You can use the Porsche for now.”
Darnell happily took the keys, exclaiming excitedly, “Miss Fanshaw, are you assigning me a car? Does an assistant get such treatment? Wow! I’ll really have a luxury car now.”
The few fake car keys in his pocket could retire honorably.
At the same time, he felt his decision to bring her food was incredibly correct.
Areli noncommittally changed the subject. “But when I need it, both you and the car must be available immediately.”
Darnell’s smile froze as he tossed the keys back. “I thought you were being nice to me. Turns out you just want me to be your personal chauffeur.”
He couldn’t help but protest further, “Miss Fanshaw, this isn’t fair. I’m already working hard as both an assistant and salesperson in the company. Now you want me to be your chauffeur too? You’re exploiting me!”
“What if I’m getting laid with my girlfriend when you need me?”
Areli smiled playfully, “You still have to show up whenever I call you. Of course, you can protest…”
“But it’s useless. The agreement states that except for not firing or asking you to do illegal things, all my other instructions must be unconditionally followed by you.”
“If not followed properly, at best you’ll be sent to the suburban warehouse, at worst charged with assault.”
Darnell protested strongly, “Miss Fanshaw! You can’t keep threatening people with the agreement.”
“Fine then. No threats.”
Areli wiped her mouth with a tissue, then suddenly sneered,
“I think Bailee isn’t suitable for working at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.”
