“Cheers!”
During the lunchtime gathering, Casey and the others took Darnell to a famous restaurant, then ordered dozens of dishes.
Compared to the delicious food, everyone was more excited about the morning’s deal. They kept raising their glasses in celebration, quickly finishing more than half of four bottles of wine.
Shayla leaned close to Darnell, her face charmingly flushed from the alcohol.
“Mr. Halford, you truly are a blessing for us female colleagues. Since you came, you’ve brought us so much good luck.”
“First, you rescued Lillian and got Brian fired, removing a scumbag from the company.”
“Then you helped me deal with Penelope, saving me from having to confront her. You also helped Bailee teach that old lecher Eliezer a lesson.”
“And now you’ve helped Casey secure a five-million-dollar deal. Mr. Halford, you’re really amazing. I’m falling for you.”
Casey giggled and corrected her, “It’s not just my deal. It’s everyone’s deal.”
Bailee also chimed in with a laugh, “Shayla, if you’re in love with Mr. Halford, then go ahead and make your move.”
Shayla clung to Darnell’s arm, her eyes half-closed and her face flushed with desire.
Darnell felt his blood rushing to his head. His hand slid down her thin back, tracing circles from her waist to her hips.
“Really?” he asked.
Shayla’s body trembled slightly but didn’t reject Darnell’s advances. Instead, she leaned into him and pouted with a smile, “If you want me, I’ll be yours.”
“Shayla, you’re using alcohol as an excuse.” Bailee and Casey teased while suggesting, “Mr. Halford, you can do it on the couch over there. We’ll stand guard for you.”
Shayla was incredibly seductive. “Mr. Halford, I’ve learned eight different positions for you.”
Hearing Shayla’s half-joking words and feeling her lack of resistance, Darnell paused his movements and pinched her nose with a smile.
“Eight positions aren’t enough for me to show my prowess. When you learn thirty-six positions, I’ll take you.”
Shayla laughed charmingly, “Really?”
“Of course it’s true. Mr. Halford would never lie to you,” Bailee said with a smile to ease the atmosphere. As a good friend, she could see that Shayla was genuinely starting to have feelings for Darnell. Then she changed the subject.
“Mr. Halford, I didn’t expect your prescription to be effective, making Chandler sign a five-million-dollar contract with us.”
Darnell smiled leisurely, “Of course, it’s an ancestral secret formula.”
“Mr. Halford, if you really have such a formula, why not make some pills yourself? As long as they work well, you’ll definitely make a fortune since many men need them. I have an idea.”
“Why don’t we partner up and start a workshop? We’ll split the profits seventy-thirty. You get seventy percent, and we get thirty percent. How about that?”
Darnell tilted his head and looked at the charming girl in front of him. Among these girls, Bailee was the most assertive and ambitious. However, he knew that compared to Casey and Shayla, Bailee had more financial pressure.
He took a sip of wine and smiled, “If it were that simple, I’d already be rich and wouldn’t need to work as a struggling salesperson at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.”
“To be honest with you, the prescription works because I knew Chandler’s symptoms and tailored it specifically for him.”
“It might not work for someone else.”
Bailee was taken aback. “It isn’t universally effective?” Then she realized something and added, “You can diagnose illnesses?”
Casey and Shayla also looked over with some excitement. “Mr. Halford, can you really diagnose illnesses?”
Darnell made something up on the spot. “Of course I can. I’m the best doctor in Westergold.”
The three women rolled their eyes in unison.
Bailee playfully punched Darnell before she complained coquettishly, “Stop kidding around!”
Shayla stuck out her tongue and said, “Mr. Halford never says anything serious.”
Casey remembered Darnell diagnosing Chandler but thought he had just been bluffing at the time since many men had Chandler’s issue. She believed the so-called remedy was probably something generic and had nothing to do with Darnell’s medical skills.
After all, Darnell was self-taught, so she maintained a neutral attitude.
“It was just a joke,” Darnell said as he took another sip of wine. “But I can indeed diagnose illnesses.”
“Really?” Shayla propped her pretty face on one hand. “Then take a look at me. Do I have any health issues?”
Darnell replied directly, “You have dysmenorrhea and recently have been experiencing palpitations and insomnia.”
Shayla almost spat out her wine in shock. “H-How did you know?”
Bailee and Casey also widened their eyes in curiosity at Darnell.
Darnell then looked at Bailee when he stated, “You have chronic gastritis. You’re often woken up by hunger at midnight but can’t eat anything.”
Bailee’s mouth dropped open.
It was true!
They looked at Darnell in disbelief. If these weren’t their private health issues that even their closest friends didn’t know about, they would have thought Casey had told him or that he had spied on them somehow.
At that moment, shock didn’t begin to describe how the trio felt.
Seeing their stunned expressions confirmed that Darnell was right.
He then turned to Casey. “Your chest occasionally feels sharp pain or swelling. You often need massages to relieve it.”
Casey was baffled.
She exclaimed in disbelief, “Mr. Halford, how did you know?”
Darnell chuckled, “I told you I can diagnose illnesses. There’s no illness or poison in this world that I can’t handle.”
As he said this, he felt slightly embarrassed inside because there was one thing he couldn’t cure. Selena’s Fantasy Potion.
While the three women rolled their eyes simultaneously at him again, Darnell gently brushed Shayla’s chin with his finger. “You’ve got a small pimple here that wasn’t there two days ago. Your complexion is pale and you’ve broken out in cold sweat, signs of hormone fluctuations.”
“Plus your dark circles indicate poor sleep quality.”
“So I guessed you have dysmenorrhea and insomnia.”
Darnell then pressed Bailee’s stomach lightly. “I noticed during lunch that you were pressing your upper abdomen lightly with a pained expression despite today’s delicious food.”
“You didn’t eat much due to reduced appetite. After lunch, you kept rubbing your stomach, indicating post-meal bloating, signs of chronic gastritis.”
The three women were initially stunned but then cheered.
“Mr. Halford, you’re amazing!”
“You can sign deals and diagnose illnesses!”
“Since you can identify our symptoms so accurately, surely you have remedies too?”
Bailee and Shayla eagerly pulled on Darnell’s arm, asking him for solutions.
Casey also moved closer anxiously asking, “Mr. Halford, what’s causing my chest pain?”
Darnell mischievously replied while staring at Casey, “Your boobs are too big, and your bra doesn’t fit properly. It’s too tight for them!”
“Don’t make fun of me!” Casey laughed as she threw herself into Darnell’s arms, playfully hitting him amidst joyful laughter.
Lunch soon ended. The four left together, planning their next steps. Three girls planned to go to the pharmacy while Darnell planned on returning to the office for a nap, carrying takeaway snacks along chili sauce packets when a man appeared, blocking their path, It was David.
