Chapter 34 Being Robbed

“Mr. Halford, did you really catch that cockroach? You were out for such a short time and caught it so quickly?”
“Every restaurant kitchen has cockroach traps or bait in the corners. Finding an unlucky cockroach is easy.”
“He said the cockroach was made from rye bread. What’s going on?”
“The kitchen was probably cleaned in the morning, so I could only find one cockroach. As for the other six, I sculpted from black bread.”
“Wow, your hands are so skillful. You can sculpt cockroaches. What else can you sculpt?”
“I can also enhance busts and lift hips. Ladies, would you like to try?”
“Naughty!”
On the way back to the company, Casey and the other two women were not at all flustered by their mischief. Instead, they seemed exhilarated.
The youthful and beautiful trio chatted non-stop with Darnell, praising his wit, dominance, and composure.
In their hearts, Darnell had become a hero. Though they seemed naive about the world, they clearly knew who was good and who was bad.
Darnell enjoyed being surrounded by these beauties and began to like these three troublemakers.
Life with these three was indescribably vibrant.
“Mr. Halford, Miss Fanshaw is asking for you.”
Just as they returned to the office, Lillian rushed over and said, “She’s not in a good mood. Be careful.”
Darnell put down his water cup and hurried to see Areli. The matter of taking off her stockings the other day had to be solved.
“Good afternoon, Miss Fanshaw.”
Knocking on the office door, Darnell greeted Areli with a smile. “You’re so busy. You can just call me and let me know if you need anything.”
“No need to call me up here and waste time.”
Her full chest stretched her white silk blouse tightly. The well-tailored black fitted suit perfectly showcased her curvy figure.
A black fitted skirt outlined her round hips, complemented by black stockings and mid-heeled shoes that gave her an imposing aura.
A light-colored scarf around her neck added to her image of competence, assertiveness, and coolness, making one want to conquer her!
Darnell forced a smile and continued, “Miss Fanshaw, you look beautiful today.”
Areli sat at her desk typing on her computer, ignoring Darnell.
Darnell stepped forward to pull out a chair when Areli coldly snapped, “Don’t sit in my chair.”
“Alright, I won’t sit then.”
Darnell rolled his eyes at Areli and then leaned on the desk, looking down at her alluring body with a glimpse of fair skin. “What a view.”
Areli’s hands stopped instantly. She grabbed a paper cutter and said coldly, “Stay away from me.”
“Fine.”
Seeing Areli’s stance, Darnell felt guilty and quickly added, “Areli, I took off your stockings that day because I was worried you’d catch a cold. I had no vicious thoughts towards you.”
“If I really had bad intentions, wouldn’t I have just assaulted you in the car?”
“Shut up!”
Areli’s face turned cold. “I’ll get to the bottom of what happened that day. I called you here regarding your performance today.”
Darnell was momentarily stunned but then cracked a smile. “My performance? Are you going to reward me?”
“Reward? How dare you ask for a reward?”
Areli snorted, “You’re really something. Just half a day in your new position and you’ve already embarrassed Mr. Izzard publicly and twisted facts about her husband’s solicitation to fool Penelope.”
“Because of you, I had to use my connections with the police to clean up your mess. Do you think you can act recklessly because I’m backing you?”
“What kind of person do you think I am?”
Darnell looked aggrieved. “I rely on my abilities for a living, not just my handsome face.”
“Eliezer brought it on himself. He can insult me all he wants, but he can’t say you’re keeping a man, even though I’d love for you to keep me.”
“I retaliated for your sake. As for Penelope’s matter, there was no other way given the urgency of the situation.”
“Eliezer was aggressive, and Penelope was meant to cause a commotion in the sales department that day. For the sake of my team and the company’s reputation, I had no option.”
Then he asked guiltily, “Miss Fanshaw, did you talk to the police to help handle Penelope?”
This was Darnell’s main concern. If not handled well, Penelope might come after him tomorrow.
“What do you think?”
Areli’s icy demeanor softened slightly but she soon fixed her gaze back on Darnell. “If I hadn’t immediately used my connections with the police and had someone coordinate with Landin. Penelope would have gone directly to the police station to confront her husband and your lie would have been revealed instantly.”
“The fact that you’re still safe means Penelope didn’t come back for revenge and you’ve passed this hurdle.”
Darnell grinned, “Thank you, Miss Fanshaw. You’re so good to me. Should I offer myself in return?”
“Get out.”
Areli bluntly retorted, “I’m not helping you. I’m helping the company. Penelope is always fierce and unreasonable.”
“If this matter isn’t handled properly, she’ll stir up trouble and even extort money from the company.”
“So you don’t have to thank me. Just remember not to use such dirty tricks again.”
Her gaze turned cold. “I hate cleaning your mess up. I’ve broken my rules for you. This is an insult to me.”
Darnell nodded with a smile. “Understood, but does it mean I’m more important than your rules?”
“Don’t flatter yourself. If you think I’m good to you, work hard in the sales department to repay my kindness.”
Areli glanced at Darnell indifferently. “Don’t disappoint me.”
Darnell patted his chest confidently. “Don’t worry, Miss Fanshaw. I’ll impress you.”
“Impress me?”
Areli snorted coldly, “Just don’t cause trouble. By the way, dealing with the police and compensating Landin cost $11, 000 in total.”
She tapped her fingers lightly on the desk and added, “You’ll pay for it.”
“What?”
Darnell instinctively covered his pocket upon hearing this. “No way!”
Then he retorted, “Miss Fanshaw, as you said earlier, I did it for the company. This should be paid by the company. Why are you asking me for money?”
“Changing DUI charges to solicitation cost a great deal. How would that be accounted for?”
Areli’s tone remained cold. “Stop talking nonsense and pay up. I know you extorted Penelope, If you don’t pay up now, I’ll call Penelope and explain everything clearly to her. Whether she chases after you with a knife has nothing to do with me.”
Hearing this made Darnell’s limbs weak. Reluctantly, he pulled out $5, 000. “Miss Fanshaw, Penelope only gave me $5, 000. As for the remaining $5, 000, I’ll give you later.”
Imagining what Penelope might do if she found out made Darnell shiver.
Areli grabbed the money while holding a paper cutter and then stared at Darnell’s other pocket.
“Drop the act. Hand over the money!”
The tip of the cutter waved before Darnell’s eyes, making him feel like he was being robbed.
