CYRIL’S POV
It wasn’t enough for Olivia to punch me in the eye, she still had the guts to ask me silly questions. I was this close to going blind.
The fear of spending the rest of my life behind bars is the reason I didn’t retaliate against the attack on my face.
Aside from going to jail, I would rather not dent my name or tarnish my image and everything I’ve ever worked so hard to achieve.
Just a brief moment of domestic violence and I’m already headlining the front page of every newspaper and media outlet tagging me as “Cyril, the wealthy beast that turned his wife into a punching bag,”
None of them wouldn’t even care to find out the real truth from me because society has made everyone believe that it’s wrong to hit women regardless of who threw the first punch.
“Where are you heading to? And why are you not speaking to me? Are you practically snubbing me now?” Olivia continued to ask me despite the snub. She wasn’t just asking me, she also had the urge to move closer to me.
“What the fuck are you doing? Come back here,” Kate pulled her back.
“Why are you holding me back? Can’t you see I’m trying to get his attention? Would you rather I let him walk away like that without knowing about his destination?” Olivia cried. She wasn’t happy with the way Kate handled the situation.
Pathetic and clueless of Olivia to behave that way. If only knew that Kate was trying to hurt her. It’s shocking to see that Kate is wiser than Olivia, her Boss.
“Wake up and smell the coffee, Olivia. Cyril’s going to hurt you. Don’t you dare move closer to him if you don’t want to get hurt? I’m telling you this because I like you. Just let him go.
He might need a break. I’ve got a positive feeling that he will show up when he’s settled. For now, you should let it go,” Kate warned Olivia about my danger. She won’t stop singing it in Olivia’s ears like a song.
“Cyril’s going to hurt me? Do you even know what you’re talking about
How’s that even possible? He’s my husband. He can’t possibly do anything to hurt me,” Olivia bragged.
“Did you just call me your husband?” I dropped my box and stepped forward. I wasn’t going to let it slide for anything in the world.
“I’m not your husband. Do I need to remind you that this marriage has been built in deceit from the onset? For fucking sake, our parents arranged for us to be married.” I reminded Olivia to stop her forcing the union on me.
“Cyril, please stop.
I thought we already agreed not to have this conversation anymore?” Olivia wept.
It was refreshing to see her in tears. It was my perfect revenge for getting punched in the face.
“Wipe those tears off your eyes. Don’t you dare trick me with them? Swear that we both ever loved each other,” I dared her.
She couldn’t speak anymore.
I finally got to silence her with my utterances.
I have no weapon in my possession, yet she felt a deep cut at her back region, courtesy of my bluntness that’s sharper than a double-edged sword.
“I thought as much.
I knew you had nothing to say,” I grabbed my box again after confirming that she would never have a comeback against me.
I made her defenseless to the point where she wouldn’t even dare to confront me anymore.
“Can you at least tell me where you’re going? Don’t I deserve to know?” She held me back just as I was about to leave.
“And why should I tell you? It’s not as though I owe you any explanation. So back off!” I scoffed.
She kept insisting to the point where she held my box and stopped me from leaving. “I don’t mind you hurting me. I just want to know where you’re headed. Is that too much to ask?”
“Quit asking me silly questions because I am not speaking to you,” I prepared my fist, ready to launch it on her face until I remembered that promise I made myself not to hit her anymore.
“Because I am your wife.
I don’t care if you think this is an arranged marriage, but I’m telling you right now, and I’m legally married to me.” She insisted.
I saw the blood in her eyes. I was able to awaken the beast in her.
I never for once thought that Olivia would turn out to be that violent and fierce.
I imagined her being a walk in the park the same way I always get away with everything after hurting her.
“It’s not as though I owe you some damn explanation, but I’m going to tell you anyway,” I bowed to pressure.
“I am moving to Rene’s apartment.
I’m moving out from this illusion called marriage. I want to be a free man again and with you in my life, I don’t see how I can accomplish that,” I told Olivia to her face without fear. I wasn’t for once worried about how she was going to feel about it.
“Please don’t leave.
We can sort it out amicably”
She went on both knees, pleading for me not to leave.
She went further to grip my legs firmly, making it difficult for me to leave.
“Why do you think I shouldn’t leave? Isn’t it obvious that this marriage is nothing but fake? Allow me to be with someone else while you go find someone who loves you,”
“I don’t love anyone.
You’re the only man that I’ve ever loved. I can’t function without you,” she begged me.
“Is that so?
What about Adrian? Do you wanna deny ever loving him?
I saw the way he looks at you.
He must have deep affection towards you. Consider giving him a chance,” I advised her further.
I also got the opportunity to push her aside and head to the exit door.
Before my exit, I turned back and told her. “Don’t forget to keep the company in good shape. I would check in for its progress,”
