Kayla
I didn’t know what to think if he actually believed all the lies that spilled out of her mouth. I have never given him any reason to doubt or not trust me even though we were not on the best terms.
I raised my head and stared into those smoldering amber eyes, challenging him to say something that would destroy our relationship even before it started.
I raised my hands to cup his face and murmured, “Do you believe what said? Have I ever given you a reason not to trust me?”
Asher’s jaw clenched, a low gurgling sound mixed with that of rumbling and thundering erupted from his mouth and he turned to Elena with blazing murderous eyes. His eyes were filled with rage and hatred and there was no atom of warmth in those golden amber.
Another furious growl left his lips, and his legs closed the distance between Elena and him. As soon as he was next to her, his nails sharpened into claws and he gripped her neck, slamming her hard against the wall.
“I am warning you, Elena, one more lie from your mouth and you kiss your life goodbye,” he growled, his sharp claws piercing into her flesh, and her blood began to run down her neck, soaking her dress.
“Alpha, please you are hurting me,” she croaked, already shivering like a leaf caught in a maelstrom but Asher’s hold on her tightened more.
“That’s exactly what I want to do to you, to end your life the same way I did to that bastard.” His voice was cold like the winter’s deadliest storm. Very cold and malicious.
The look on Elena’s face was that of disbelief. But I didn’t care about her feelings. The only thing that mattered to me right now was Asher. Just a few seconds ago he was demanding the truth from me and if Hades was my lover, but even without explaining anything he was already defending me.
“Asher, what is wrong with you? Kayla cheated on you, and still, you keep her in your heart. Didn’t you see her in Hades’s arms? You should be throwing her out and not attacking me. I have been by your side since the death of Emily, yet you’re choosing her over me?” She spoke, groaning and pressing her hands hard on the wound on her neck to stop the bleeding.
Asher’s eyes hardened and he pulled his hand off from her neck. He gazed hard into her brown eyes and growled “Elena, I want you out of my territory before dawn.”
“You can’t. You can’t possibly ask me to leave,” she was completely shocked.
” I can, Elena, and that’s final,” he swerved away from her, walking towards me.
“I am not going anywhere, Asher. You want to throw away all that we shared just for her. You barely even know her, she should be the one leaving our life to whatever planet she came from. I am the one you need Asher, the only person that can tame your nightmares.”
“Elena,” Asher said with shaking fists, his eyes were bloodshot. ” Leave now before it’s too late.”
“Can’t you see my Alpha, she has bewitched you to turn against me. You have to snap out from whatever spell she has done to you,” she muttered
” Leave immediately Elena, and make sure you never show your face to me ever again. If you ever go against my order then I will give you a slow and painful death that would make you wish you never crossed part with me. Asher growled
Her gaze froze on me. Her brown eyes burned so furiously that even the trees could feel the intensity of her fury. It was obvious she never expected Asher would take my side. If I wasn’t so confused by his actions, I would be thriving and relishing this moment.
She sighed disappointedly, turned, and left us both alone.
I stared at Asher, but he wasn’t looking at me. His whole attention was on Elena and could see he was battling with his wolf not to kill her like he did to Hades.
“Why did you do it? Why did you believe me over her? You didn’t even ask for any explanation yet you defended me. Why? I asked.
He turned around and my gaze met his amber eyes which were cold and staring at me with low simmering rage. I suddenly regretted saying anything at all. He was clearly not in the mood.
“What kind of person do you think I am? Asher said in a low voice. But his voice was on the cusp of blowing out into full-blown anger and destroying everything in its wake.
I waited for the usual stuff to happen, for the air to grow dense around me, for the lights to flicker, and for my breath to get caught in my throat. But no such thing happened. Instead, Asher took one step closer to me and then another. He kept striding forward and stood directly in front of me.
Our toes were touching and he looked down at me while I craned my head up to look at him.
Those golden amber orbs were shining like the sun and his cold gaze stayed on his face.
“Do you think I would believe whatever trash she said about you? Even though we have known each other for a short while, I know the kind of person you are and what you are capable of doing.” He said and I felt a wave of delight course through me.
The way he said those words, carefully picking them while his tongue moved over his lips was maddening.
“But why do you have to kill him in such a gruesome way?” I asked.
“His hands were not supposed to touch your skin, talk more of his filthy body on top of you. He deserves whatever punishment he got.”
“And one more thing, Kayla,” Asher said and bent lower, bringing his mouth close to my ears. His breath tingled my skin and I swallowed hard as he muttered.
“You are mine. Mine alone.”
