The two of them stood, facing each other. One was calm, remorseful and apologetic in his gaze but the other was fierce, furious and hate filled.
“The last thing I will be doing in this life is getting divorced with you Ava. I want you back and I will not give you this desire of yours” Adrian reaffirmed.
“You must be joking, you swine. You think you decide the shot here? No, you don’t and would never have that chance to have things in your own way anymore.
You will sign this paper, even if I have to pull the trigger on your head and blow that skull of yours into several pieces, I’ll do it and use your blood as the signature” Aurora threatened.
“Calm down Aurora” Patrick stepped in. He had witnessed how remorseful Adrian was back then. And seeing him kneel down before her, his respect for Adrian just doubled.
“Stay out of this, Patrick. This dramatic man never showed me anything except cold heartedness and hatred. I can’t start counting what he’d done to me.
I want him to sign the divorce paper and we’ll assume we never met. What’s the big deal about that? He’d always wanted this to get legal with Lola Carrero and discard the poor tramp that I was.
Why is he saying no now, why is he prolonging something as easy as mere signature. Why?” Aurora seethed, furious and bitter.
“There’s no Lola Carrero. There’s only Nelly and the last I remember, she’s in jail” Adrian replied calmly. He was not angry with her at all. He remembered how he was always angry with his family back then when they tried to say good things about her to him, especially grandfather .
“That’s not my problem. I hate you Adrian Lester and I could pull a trigger on you if I have one handy” Aurora Blake scowled.
He’s not dating Lola Carrero again? So he’s with someone else, Nelly? He could choose to be with whoever he chooses, that’s not her business. Such a flirt.
“I won’t sign that divorce paper. Please Ava. I’m sorry, forgive me. I missed you and more than that, I’m in love with you now. Please come back to me, let’s be family with our daughter…” Adrian was pleading when Aurora interrupted him.
“What daughter? If you won’t sign it willingly, my lawyer will come after you. Why am I even talking to you in the first place” she hissed and took her clutch when Adrian’s words made her pause.
“Elsie is my daughter. You can’t deny that” Adrian declared, with a firm gaze on her. He might not know how he did it with her, but he did it and she was pregnant before the news of her pseudo death left him depressed.
That pregnancy metamorphosed into the beautiful Elsie Blake which actually should have been Elsie Lester. He knows already and she should know that he knows.
Aurora turned herself to face him and gave him a stark warning “The next time, you conceive that idiocy in your heart and your senseless brain, don’t forbid you from sprouting nonsense, I’ll have you arrested” she declared and walked away.
Adrian Lester watched her walk away before him pulling Patrick away along with her. He had envisaged this from the moment he realised that she was still alive.
He didn’t expect her to run into his outstretched arms. It will take time, but he hopes for the best. He hopes that she sleeps over it and ruminates over his words. He hopes that she will erase the idea of divorce from her mind and heart completely and let them get together as a couple again.
But Patrick, where does his loyalty lie?
In New Jersey, Luna Wesley was overwhelmed. Her detective has some good news for her. They’d agreed to meet in a hotel at the bustling centre of the city.
As she stepped into the hotel, she bumped into a certain person and his card dropped. It was an accident and she quickly apologised.
“Sorry” the other person said.
“Oh I’m sorry” Luna apologised and bent over to pick the ID. She mistakenly turned it over and her complexion pale when she saw the name.
It’s him. They meet again. This is not supposed to be happening. She’d stayed away from him since she got her freedom back. How can she bump into him?
Her hands shivered and her body felt tensed up. She couldn’t raise herself to full height as fast as she bent over to get the ID. When she carefully but leisurely raised herself, she avoided his gaze and stretched his card to him.
“Excuse me” she said and the other at the same time exclaimed “Luna!”
Luna didn’t respond but walked away briskly. He went after her asking her to spare him a few minutes but Luna wouldn’t listen. She got into the elevator and it shut.
She sighed softly and placed her hand on her chest. Why is he here, why does he have to encounter her at the time she was up and down, trying to find out the whereabouts of her son, his son as well?
She would confront him, but not yet. What’s important to her now, is her son. One at a time. Once she finds her son, she would go after Anna Lester and make her pay for what she’d done to her.
When she got to the room number that the detective gave her, she used the doorbell and the latter opened, standing behind the door with his hand at his back, obviously on a pistol.
“Nice meeting you again, Ms Luna,” he said, walking her to a sofa. His work is more than halfway done.
“It’s my pleasure meeting you again, detective Rodgers,” Luna said. She has full fate in him. He has records of good jobs done. She hopes hers isn’t going to be an exception.
Rodgers brought drinks and placed them before her “Can I?” He asked, seeking her consent to pour her the drinks.
“No, I’m not interested in having anything. Just share the good news with me. Have you found my son?”
