Patrick Connor smiled. The table has turned. Now, it’s Aurora who doesn’t want to know or hear a thing about Adrian. She doesn’t even want him to mention his name.
He hopes he won’t be caught in the middle again? He’d learnt from Adrian and he wouldn’t get in the middle again. Knowing that Ava Leon was still alive was enough compensation for his estranged friendship with Adrian.
“As you wish, Aurora,” he replied. He would just go along with her. Her life with Adrian and how she wants to pilot it after now, is none of his business at all.
“Tell me, why did you leave your former job?” Aurora asked. She knew about the fight between him and that friend of his, but she isn’t expecting them to fall apart.
“We all want to grow, right? I want to be able to stand on my feet. There isn’t anything else besides that” Patrick lied. She doesn’t have to know anything else.
“Hmmm I believe you with a pinch of salt” Aurora teased. Since he doesn’t want to say anything about it, she would let it remain that way.
“You don’t have a choice, Aurora” he chimed and they both chuckled. Anyways he has found her, she’s alive, his grievances with Adrian are over.
“You’ll have the contract and I’ll ensure my brother awards it to you. Is that alright, you can supply everything needed?” Aurora asked.
“Thank you Aurora. But I am not financially capable of supplying everything. I’m still growing” Patrick confided in her.
“You shouldn’t worry, I saw your profile and know your worth. I’ll be your first investor. Get me the budget of what you need, I’ll double the amount for you” Aurora assured.
That evening, as Patrick took his flight back to New Jersey, he was happy and excited. If there are words he could use to express his heart’s content, he would be eager to do so.
Ava is alive as Aurora Blake. How he wished he could find his family too. His mother’s identity has been concealed from him. The only explanation he was given is that her identity would daint his future and happiness.
Aurora spent the evening with her friend Luna Wesley. The latter simply shed tears when she saw Aurora. How can she believe that out of the many people who made promises to her, only Ava Leon would keep it?
She can only be grateful that Ava was sent to jail, otherwise she might probably still be there, wallowing in prison. Henceforth, she shouldn’t blame Adrian for sending Ava to jail, she should rather be grateful that he did.
Now she believed that as evil as Adrian and his mother could be, they did something that ended up in her favour.
“…. and where’s your son now?” Aurora asked. They are happy together and they’ve talked at length. But the only thing that bothers Luna the most is finding her son again.
“I don’t know. But I have a private detective investigating his whereabouts. I hope to find him soon” Luna explained.
“I hope so too. I can’t imagine my life without Elsie. And I know it hasn’t been easy for you too, without your son for these many years” Aurora stuttered.
In all that has happened, she’s happy for Elsie. If she doesn’t have a daughter, her life would have experienced unspoken emptiness. But with Elsie, her marriage was not a total regret.
“Yeah, you’re a mother too, Aurora, and the heart of true mothers would understand it” Luna appreciated, holding back her tears.
“But what happened, how did you end up in jail for so many years?” Aurora asked. If this woman spent so many years in prison and would have been forgotten there until her death, what has she done?
“I was framed. I was in love with a man who also loves someone else and was confused on who to choose. In the end, I was framed for being negligent on duty which caused a patient’s death…” Luna explained.
“Were you a doctor?” Aurora asked. Negligent on duty, patient death and practising licence seized, were terminologies familiar with her now as a doctor.
“Yes, I was an intern doctor at the time. But I lost my life, my career, my son and I grew old in prison Ava, I virtually lost my family and happiness” Luna explained.
“Do you have an idea of who framed you?” Aurora asked. The extent to which the word ‘frame’ can put innocent people behind bars cannot be overlooked. She’s been there too, she knows how it hurts.
“I did, but I have no evidence to prove my claim” Luna replied. She sniffled. Even if she’s got evidence, she has become powerful with the backing of her husband.
“But why? You’ve got a lawyer. You could apprehend whoever the person is. Can you try and find proof, evidence of something despite the many years?” Aurora scowled.
She doesn’t want evil people getting away unscratched despite what they’ve done. She wants everyone to get a retribution for what they do. That’s how it should be so that others can learn to be kind.
“I will come back to that. But first, I want my son” Luna stuttered. Yes, she wants to get united with her son again. After giving birth to him, she hasn’t set her eyes on him again.
“Nothing can be compared to the joy of being with one’s child and especially in your case, being united with your son again” Aurora coaxed, holding Luna’s hand and giving it a soft squeeze.
In the club, Jimmy Blake was in the company of his friend Ray Grimard.
“Your sister is playing hard to get, Jimmy. Aren’t you going to do something about it?” Ray complained. He has no patience like this when it comes to getting women except Aurora Blake.
At the snap of his fingers, women are at his feet ready to kiss it. He doesn’t have to say he loves them, no. A beckon was enough and they were on his bed.
He has never desired to fuck a woman as much as he desires Aurora. Her refusal is the only thing that keeps him adamant and still pursuing her. Once he gets her in his bed once, that’s all.
“There are things I can interfere with Ray, but you see the thing called love, is a thing of the heart and I can’t force it on her” Jimmy replied as a matter of fact.
“I still believe you can talk her into giving me a chance. You can coax her, aren’t you her elder brother?” Ray insisted. What the heck! How can he not order her into a relationship?
Gosh! Just one time in his bed, he would fuck the living day out of her. She would never forget him in a hurry.
“It’s not about you, Ray. But it’s a general thing about Aurora. I think she’s suffering from Misandry. Give her time, she might eventually fall in love with you” Jimmy explained.
“It appears that hatred is only visible when she’s with me,” Ray declared. Why was it peculiar to him alone?
“Because she hates men who want a relationship with her. If you have no desire for that, she won’t have issues with you” Jimmy declared.
“If I don’t have your sister in my bed, then I’m not surnamed Grimard” Ray mumbled under his breath.
“What did you say?” Jimmy asked, his facial expression darkened.
