Chapter 505: The Photo

When the effects of the medication wore off, Callie was awakened by excruciating pain.
She had been through a car accident and an ectopic pregnancy surgery. Had Nelson not received the news, or did he know and simply not want to return?
The most painful part of human relationships lies here.
Mollie prevented her from accessing any electronic devices because a reporter had captured a photo of Nelson leaving the Ellison family home. The man was dressed in black, followed discreetly by Anthony.
The headline was sensational: “Oconnor Group in Crisis, Nelson Flies Back Amidst Busy Schedule Just Because Miss Ellison Has a Fever?”
Mollie underestimated Callie’s sensitivity. With such precautions, Callie could guess that something had happened.
When she felt slightly better, she waited until Mollie was not in the room and found her phone, charging it.
As soon as she turned it on, it vibrated incessantly with news notifications from various apps, and someone had sent her a message-a photo.
Callie instinctively clicked on it.
She was stunned for a moment and only came to her senses after a long while.
In a room that was clearly feminine in style, Nelson was seen leaving hurriedly.
Marilyn was clever; she didn’t need to add any text. This photo alone was enough to devastate Callie.
The date on the photo was the day of her car accident.
Looking through recent news, Callie stopped trembling altogether.
Rumors were spreading that Nelson and Marilyn were about to get together.
In an instant, Callie felt it was ridiculous how hard she had fought to survive while in a coma.

“She was saved?” Lucia’s tone carried a hint of surprise.
The other person hesitated, “She was saved, but… she underwent an ectopic pregnancy surgery. She’s weak and will likely need to stay in the hospital for a long time.”
Lucia hadn’t decided to kill her. She just didn’t want Callie to die so easily. They weren’t divorced yet; if she died, Nelson would have to bear the title of a widower, which was inauspicious.
Now, with rumors about Nelson and Marilyn spreading more intensely and the Oconnor Group’s crisis unresolved, Nelson was overwhelmed in Afupshire.
At this point, Callie absolutely couldn’t stay in this position for long.
Mollie noticed that Callie had changed a lot. She no longer asked about the Oconnor Group and spent more time staring out the window in a daze.
Several times Mollie wanted to speak but didn’t dare to say anything.
Perhaps to echo something, some people came to Callie’s hospital room that day-brought by Lucia.
Bodyguards pushed a man with a cast on his hand in front of Callie’s bed. He kept bowing and apologizing, “Mrs. Oconnor, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have answered the phone while driving and caused you such harm. I deserve to die…”
It became clear that this man was the driver from that day.
Callie frowned. Unable to move, she couldn’t help him up.
A bodyguard stepped forward and adjusted her bed higher. With a clearer view, Callie saw Lucia standing aside.
Was it her? She had also come to Afupshire.
Lucia smiled and said gently, “I found the person for you. You can deal with him however you want.”
Callie remained unmoved, her tone very cold, “Let him go.”
Lucia’s expression changed, and she narrowed her eyes, “He almost killed you.”
Callie lowered her eyes and tucked in the corner of her blanket. She wasn’t surprised by Lucia’s appearance.
“I agreed to let him take that call. I bear half the responsibility for what happened. There’s no need to make things difficult for him.”
A taxi driver was the breadwinner of his entire family-Callie didn’t want to be harsh on him because of herself.
