Preparing For The Party

The first dress was short. Naomi had tried all she could to convince me to wear the dress, but to no avail.
The dress, not only short, also hung tight on my whole curves. And as much as I wanted Adam’s eyes glued to me tonight, I wasn’t going to dress like Lilian or Claire to achieve that purpose.
“Maya, the dress isn’t slutty. I wouldn’t tell you to wear it if it was so. It’s just short and cute. Well, since you don’t like it, you can try this one. I believe it will suit your taste.” Naomi said, taking the short gown from my hand and dropping it inside her box. Then, she handed me a blue dress, a light with glittering diamond-like crystals adorning it.
The dress like the other hung to my curves, but it flowed down to my ankle. A relief. It had a slit that tore from my thighs down; which puts a task on the male folk to imagine what’s underneath the gown after the slit.
“Wow, you are looking beautiful, Maya. Adam would love it!” Naomi said, screaming the last clause, hurrying to get her make up kit which was located in the lower compartment of her wardrobe.
Sighing, I turned around, my eyes watching myself in the mirror. She was right. The dress was beautiful. Where has she gotten all these dresses? For what occasions? There hasn’t been any party in our pack for a long while except the time when we had been celebrating the treaty that had been made between our king and some other supernatural leader.
But I was five then, and I believed that Naomi had been the same. So, there was no way these gowns could have been bought then. She must be really proactive.
Well, it was good that she was. If not, what would I have worn to a party organized in my favor by the Lycan king? My washed jeans and oversized polo? Even the king would be unhappy about that. He would think that I was blatantly disrespecting his goodwill.
“Here, sit down. Let me make you up, before I work on myself. The time for the party is almost here. Timothy would soon come knocking at the door.” Naomi muttered, gesturing to the chair with wheels in front of her dressing table.
Just as I sat on the chair, a knock sounded on the door. Speak of the devil.
“Are you girls done? The party has already started.” Timothy sounded impatient.
“Hurry Naomi, wear your clothes. I think I can make up for myself.” I gently pushed her to the wardrobe, but she shook her head, opened the kit and brought out the eye pencil and mascara.
“I will make up your face myself. My brother has no choice but to wait. Now keep still.” She said , cleaning my face with a wipe.

I watched as Naomi gave me a look over for the third time.
“Naomi… say something.”
“I’m lost for words.” She replied, her face clothed with awe and honesty as she voiced her opinions.
“A good loss of words or a bad loss of words.” I asked, earning a burst of laughter from her.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” She said, still laughing.
“I don’t know. You weren’t saying anything.” I replied with a shrug, still standing at attention, waiting for the approval of my friend. I had given her mine minutes ago when she was done with her make up.
She looked gorgeous. I hoped Noah noticed her.
“So…” I drawled.
“So…” Naomi drawled back, mimicking an accent, with a smile threatening to metamorphose into a laughter any minute from then.
“Naomi..” I screamed, laughing thereafter with my friend who was trying to curb her own bouts of laughter.
“Mind me not.” She stated, lifting up her two hands as in surrender.
“You look breathtakingly hot!” She wiggled her eyebrows at me. I blushed at the compliment.
“Really?” I asked, looking down and touching the gown gingerly, a smile evident on my lips.
“Yeah. Adam would be blown off.” She admitted, whistling like a guy watching a lady shake her booty.
“Hey! Stop that!” I shouted, now laughing boisterously.
“Stop me if you can.” She retorted, standing at akimbo with a pout.
“Oh, yeah…?” I asked, stepping forward towards her, in a bid to scare her into running, but then a car horn blew.
“Timothy!”
“Timothy!”
We both shouted, before scurrying around to pick up our sling bags which were lying idly on the bed.
“Maya, you haven’t chosen a shoe yet!” Naomi shouted, her eyes widening as she beheld my bare feet peeking out underneath the gown.
“Oh, no..” I muttered, looking at the shoe rack. We had forgotten about that part.
“You know what..? Just choose any shoe from my rack. I will go out and stall him.” Naomi suggested, earning a sigh of relief from me.
I didn’t want Timothy barging in here out of anger and frustration.
“Thanks a lot, Naomi. You’re the best.” I mentioned, before walking to her shoe rack, knowing that her brother hated being kept waiting.
