Chapter 59
Alpha Damon sat gently back on his seat as he tried to stop himself from going after Ava as she walked out angrily on him. “How dare her walk out on me?” He asked himself as he felt rage coursing through his veins as he thought of what had just happened between him and his supposed mate. His mind wandered off to what happened yesterday when he returned home and Princess showed him the photo of her and the other man that she was with. He tried to kill the thought, but it kept recurring in her mind as he could not stop himself from thinking about it.
“Was it better not to have seen the photo at all? Talk more of hearing that she is pregnant for that strange guy.” He thought as he slowly brought his palm to wipe his face, heaving a sigh of frustration. “But, haven’t I tried enough? Changing my ways just to get her to stay loyal, but she ended up fucking a stranger. And not just that, she had the guts to get pregnant for her.” He questioned himself as he took a deep breath to calm his racing heart but to no avail.
Ava’s words reverberated in his mind as he sat down there. His rage intensified by the minute, and he did not seem to have control of it. He felt his wolf snarling within him and threatening to take over, but he knew he had to keep him in check. He stood up abruptly and started to walk around the office, trying to forget what he had gone through for the past few days. “She did not even try to deny it at all. She showed no remorse.” He thought as he walked to the nearest wall, clenching his fingers to make a fist and landing it on the wall.
He grunted lowly as he placed his fist on the wall, panting and trying to catch his breath. He took a deep breath, lowering his head. Something then came to his mind. “It was her at the lake yesterday. But how would she leave Mist Wood to West Wood to be at that lake? I should have asked her earlier.” He thought as he walked slowly back to his seat, taking a deep breath before he sat down. His eyes were fixed on his computer screen as he tried to get her thoughts off his mind, but it was just as if her name were boldly written on the screen.
“A lady with so much emotional control over me.” He whispered to himself as he lowered his head on the table. “Even if Princess had been lying to me, she got this one right. Ava was truly seeing someone else and even got pregnant for him without showing any remorse.” He thought, wiping his face hard with his palm while he inhaled deeply and exhaled heavily. At this point, several questions popped up in his mind, and he could only try to stop himself from going to her to ask.
He could not resist the urge for long as he slowly walked out of his office, closing the door gently not to make a loud thud. He walked slowly to her office, trying to arrange his thoughts in his head before he walked into her office. He knew he would not want to repeat what had happened earlier in his office. He got to the door of her office not long after, taking a deep breath to calm his nerves as he tried to be as calm as he could before he knocked on the door.
He waited for a moment and when he got no response, he became furious, turning the doorknob immediately to get the door opened. As if Ava were expecting him to be back for her, she showed no surprise on her face and waited for him to talk first. She noticed that he was silent and decided to talk first, breaking the silence that grew in the office.
“What is going on through her mind? How did she get the guts to look me in the eyes with so much resentment and rage?” Alpha Damon could not help but ask himself as his mind was reeled with questions that only his mate that stood before him could give answers to.
Alpha Damon took a deep breath as he thought of asking her directly why she would do such a thing but as the memories of what happened in his office, filtered into his mind occasionally, he could not help but keep mute, staring deeply into her eyes and waiting for her to get tired of the staring contest.
“What is the meaning of all these?” She suddenly asked, breaking the silence. Alpha Damon only continued to stare deep into her eyes with so much hate and resentment. She felt a slow rise in anger within her as she was not answered by Alpha Damon. Instead, he heaved a heavy sigh and continued to stare at her dead in the eyes. “How could you do this to me? Do you know the emotional pain that you have put me through?” He asked himself as he continued to look at her, still not uttering a single word.
“Hey! I do not know why you are here, but I think you should leave immediately. I don’t like the fact that you are here and silent. It does not always end well.” She said rapidly as if she were trying to keep her voice from breaking. Alpha Damon finally tilted his head away from her, looking at the ceiling for a moment as if he were ready to talk, but no, another thought came into his mind. He tilted his head slowly back to her, staring deep into her eyes, and she could see the hate in his eyes. He started to move slowly toward her, and she made a frown on her face as she took steps backward.
“Stay where you are.” She said with a slight rise in her tone, but it fell on deaf ears as alpha Damon continued to stare into her eyes and still closed the distance between them. Not long after, she was caught up on the wall and could not go back any further.
“Please don’t hurt me and my baby.” She pleaded, and Alpha Damon stopped walking immediately, as he did not want her to have any impression that he was after the baby. He was only hurt by the fact that she had to go and fuck another person while he was trying to manage the fact that she was seeing Alpha Jude before him. Now, the third guy? Who knows if she had been fucked by other people. He shook his head as he tried to shake the thought off his mind.
“All I wanted was to get answers from you, but you chose not to talk.” He said in his deep voice as he intended to send fear through her body, but it was as if his voice boosted her confidence as she immediately had a frown on her face, looking at him in the eyes before she talked.
“That was because you called me a whore and a gold digger. Of all people, you never should have been the one to call me those names.” She said slowly, and he had no choice but to look away for a moment, trying to control himself from getting angrier than he already was. He felt his angry wolf snarling from inside, and he just had to keep his composure, tilting his head back to look at her.
“Why wouldn’t I call you a whore, when you were out there fucking other people? And why would I not call you a gold digger, when of course you actually laid with me on the bed for my money.” He said, and it was as if he had opened up another healing wound in her, as tears began to gather in her eyes. She could no longer hold the stare, and she closed her eyes, causing the tears to roll down her cheeks freely.
“Have I overreacted?” Alpha Damon asked himself as he only watched her cry. A part of him wanted to console her, but another part kept telling him that for some reason, she deserved to cry even harder than she was already crying.
“I can’t take this. This is too much to handle.” She said slowly as if she were whispering, but still audible enough for him to hear what she said. He gave no chance for his emotion to kick in as he maintained the frown on his face.
“You did not prove me wrong. Even when Princess showed me the photos last night. I still could not believe my eyes. She told me about the pregnancy too, and that was when I lost my mind. I ran out of the mansion, deep into the woods, where I never knew existed, as I was driven by my fury.” He said, taking a pause as he turned around.
Just as he turned, Ava walked out hastily, from the office, shutting the door behind her violently. He got no chance to hold her back as he ran to catch up with her but stopped when he realized that he was not supposed to do any of that. He slowly walked back to his office, heaving a sigh as he sat on the chair and swirling around. He became lost in his own thoughts and just then, he caught the scent of someone approaching, someone he had been expecting.
