Chapter 30
Alpha Jude stood at the window to his office, he stared at the roof of the jet-black car that had just driven in, he knew who’s it was he could recognize it anywhere.
He watched Alpha, and Damon walk around the car to the passenger seat, sticking his head in and coming out with Ava in his arms.
“Nice” he muttered under his breath, frowning at the sight that unfolded before him.
As much as he wanted to act like he did not care, he did. Maybe even a little too much.
He still loved Ava very much and still wanted her to himself, but he also wanted Alpha Damon on his side if he wanted that fat chunk of land that was his but still in Alpha Damon’s position
And he blamed himself for starting this whirlwind of romance between them, but she was the only thing he would accept to let the deal kick-off.
So what if he had been a little selfish, and said little harsh things?
She, on the other hand, had run back into the arms of a man who had caused her so much pain and anguish, when she did not deserve any of it.
To be frank, alpha Jude had expected so much more from Ava, considering she had always been the most sentimental among the two of them.
Yet, she had gone and fallen in love with him, or whatever it was they were doing. Not that he wanted to know.
All he knew was that he still wanted her, and so did his wolf. And he missed her badly, he had not been with any other woman since they, broke off the engagement.
A soft knock sounded on the open door of his study just a few minutes after alpha, Damon walked into the house with Ava in his arms.
He turned to see Alpha Damon standing in the doorway, taking a quick sip of his drink he walked a little closer to acknowledge him.
“Hello.” alpha Damon said, not making any effort to walk into the study, “I came to drop off Ava, she does not seem very well, you should get someone to check in on her,” he said with a nod.
He wanted to do those things himself, take care of her and just sit by her bed or probably hold her while she slept, but he could not.
“I will, thank you for bringing her.” Alpha Jude said with a small bow.
Without further words alpha Damon walked away, his wolf would not have it but Damon knew he had to go.
“You should have just taken her home and given him an excuse.” His wolf muttered with gritted teeth.
“No!” Alpha Damon said. If he wanted as going to have her to himself, he would not do it that way, he would do it the right way, they were mates after all, but he feared that Ava would not be comfortable with it.
Strutting back to where he was parked, he slipped him and zoomed off. Scared of looking back, if he did, he might just be tempted to go back in there and fetch her home with him.
Alpha Jude took his drink again, strolling back to the window, he watched Alpha Damon give one small glance at the building before he entered his car and drove off.
He liked his study for this beautiful feature, he could see every angle of the front yard from this spot.
Slowly throwing the liquid into his mouth in one gulp, his face squeezed into a frown as the whiskey burned down his throat, he proceeded toward Ava’s room
The door was not locked, he smiled when it opened With just one gentle push.
It smelled strongly like her in here, he thought as he walked in. He looked around slowly, his hands tucked into his pockets.
He had missed not just her but also here, her room being in proxy with things she owned and loved.
His gaze fell on her sleeping form on the bed, she was lying on her back, her left arm spread wide while her right clutched onto the pillow beneath her head.
She still had her shoes on, which he found weird, if alpha Damon had brought her all this way, why was he being too modest about taking off her shoes?
Walking to the end of the bed, he slowly tucked the shoes off her feet, being extra careful so as not to wake her.
She groaned softly I’m her sleep, making him pause for a minute to make sure she was still sleeping.
Pulling it all the way, he flung it across the room and moved to the next foot, did the same thing, and chugged the shoe across the room.
Ava would have killed him for that had she been awake, she was a huge clean freak and hated disorganization, which was, in fact, the opposite of him.
He did not care where he kept stuff, maybe because he always had people to do it for him.
Walking over to the head of the bed, he stared at them for a few minutes before deciding to sit and do it.
He sat at the edge of the bed, comfortably his eyes trained on her, she did look exhausted and exhausted, and perhaps that was why alpha Damon had thought she might be sick.
Ava felt a shadow above her, slowly peeling her eyes open she came almost face to face with Alpha Jude.
Her eyes flew wide at the sight of him, how did she get here, the last thing she remembered was going to lunch with Aloha Damon.
How did Alpha Jude get in her room, she was always sure to lock it behind her.
“Calm down, it’s just me.” alpha Jude said with a small smile.
He could tell she was terrified, of what? He did not know, but her face looked like she had just seen a ghost.
“How did I get here and how did you get in here?” She asked.
“Alpha Damon brought you to a whole ago,” Alpha Jude said simply.
“Okay,” Ava said, staring at her weirdly. “Why are you here?” She asked when he still sat rooted to the spot. She expected him to leave the minute she opened her eyes.
“Nothing, I just…miss you I guess.” was all alpha Jude could think of or say.
“Okay,” Ava said, still in a state of speechlessness.
“You should get rid of it,” he said in one breath, it just came out he had not even thought of it or anything he just knew that was what he wanted her to do.
“What?” Ava asked confused, “get rid of what?”
“The pregnancy,” he said, looking at her straight in the eye while he said it. A big part of him knew it was going to be something Ava would never do.
Aside from the fact that she might be in love with alpha Damon was the fact that she would not just terminate a pregnancy for no logical reason.
“What?!” she asked, her voice raised, he was sure everyone passing the hallway heard that.
“No!” She yelled this time louder. “Never” she added jumping out of the bed, alpha Jude was scared she might hurt herself.
“I just think it’s the most reasonable thing to do right now,” he said, standing up to look at her
“Why?” Ava asked, still in disbelief that he had even mentioned that.
“Because I know deep in my soul that that child is not mine, and you won’t come out clean.” He said.
“I cannot get rid of it, I will not know that now,” Ava said.
“You can’t have another man’s child under my roof, Ava” Alpha Jude said, “I am not going to let that.”
“Then I guess I have to start looking for somewhere else to stay,” Ava said, standing her ground.
“It does not have to be like this Ava.” alpha Jude said, resorting to calm and persuasion as his violent resolve had not yielded any good
“No, it doesn’t which is why I will leave as soon as I can. You do not have to worry about me or the child then,” she said, her voice firm and unwavering.
“Ava, I still love you and I want you here, and the only way that would work out fine is if you get rid of that thing in your belly.” Alpha Jude said.
“First of all, do not refer to my child like that and secondly, I do not want things to work out fine between us, not now, and most definitely not ever.” She said sternly.
She stared back at him, watching his facial expressions. He was angry, she could tell, but he seemed to be I’m control of his anger.
With a low grunt, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving her standing there, she still could not believe he would even do something as outrageous as that.
