Chapter 28
Ava rubbed her flat stomach slowly as she woke up, she had only just found out that she was pregnant, and she was already feeling a connection with her unborn child.
She felt weirdly tired and mostly grateful that the morning sickness that was associated with the early phases of pregnancy had not started yet.
Remembering she had work and a life to get to, Ava stood up sluggishly. Pushing herself off the bed and walking to the bathroom for her usual morning routine.
Proceeding to brush her teeth, she stepped into the shower, gasping as the cold water streamed down her back.
She specifically wanted the cold water so she could wake up fully, she still felt very sleepy
Stepping out of the bath, she walked back into the room, dabbing at her wet hair as she went, she walked into the closet.
Scanning the racks and hangers, her fingers running through the materials, she finally stopped when she felt a soft crepe material under her fingers.
It was soothingly soft, just what she needed. Picking it out, she inspected the purple material of the one-shouldered dress.
She lotioned her body, dabbing a powered blush on her cheeks to give them more life and lip gloss for the extra shiny and luscious lips.
Deciding to let her hair down for this one, she blow-dried it. Wincing at the heat that hit her face from the appliance.
Soon she was done, happily dropping the blow-drier and proceeded to get dressed, she was already running late again, she thought as she glanced at the clock on her bedside table.
The dress fit perfectly, and the color looked better than she had expected it to on her.
Picking a pair of white Jimmy Chou heels and a bag to match, she looked good to go, she said with a small twirl.
Unconsciously rubbing her stomach again, soon it would not be so flat anymore, everyone would know.
Dashing out of the house, making sure to leave through the back door as she was actively avoiding alpha Jude, she slipped into her car.
Her wolf had been oddly quiet for a while, and Ava wondered why. She had not said or reacted in any way, not even to the news of a baby being on the way.
Which was weird in Ava’s opinion, here would be always active when something was up.
Deciding that she would have time for that later in the day or maybe after work, she focused on getting to West Wood.
Soon she was there, and she sighed an exasperated sigh when she spotted the princess’s car.
And knew instantly that she would have to deal with her yet again for another few hours
She had an idea, all she had to do was ignore her for the rest of the day and make sure she was out of her way as much as she could.
The constant arguing, banter, and glares were not healthy for her, not now that she was with the child, she had to protect her child from bad energies and the princess was her major one at the moment.
“Welcome ma.” Someone greeted as Ava walked into the building, she could not recognize who it was, but that did not stop her from acknowledging the greeting.
Soon she was in her office and proceeded to work, she had some emails from some of their major investors and a schedule for meetings for the next two weeks.
It seemed hectic, but nothing she was unable to deal with or handle.
She would have to tell Alpha Damon sometimes, and also take a break from work when she was heavy.
But for now, she would keep this discovery to herself and herself alone
He did not have to know for now, for all she knew he probably might not give a flying fuck about the child or her.
“But still, he is the father and has to know” Ava smiled when she heard her wolf within.
It might sound like something odd or weird to say, but she had missed her wolf.
“It’s you,” Ava said to her wolf
“Yes, I am always here. I wanted to give you time to feel things a do things your way,” she said snidely.
“Well, welcome back,” Ava said.
“But it seems you cannot do one thing right without me,” her wolf said arrogantly.
“Pride,” Ava muttered under her breath.
“Oh, please.” her wolf said.
A knock on the door interrupted their conversation and Ava wondered who it was.
“Come in,” Ava said, staring at the closed door.
“Of course,” Ava heard the voice before she even saw her, the one person she was determined to avoid.
“The meeting is about to begin, alpha Damon asked that I fetch you,” she said, taking a seat that Ava had not even offered her.
“I will just round up here and Join you,” Ava said with a tight smile.
“Of course, Ava, or is it Mitchell?” Princess said with a sinister laugh.
Ava paused, and the walls seemed to spin around her for a second.
“What did you just call me?” Ava asked when she finally found her voice.
“Come on now, Mitchell did. You really think you could hide this for so long?” Princess asked, “That you could fool every one of us forever?”
“I did not fool anyone, I simply just changed names,” Ava said.
“Well, Everything has been revealed, and it will only be a short time before Alpha Damon realizes who you are and treats you accordingly.” She said.
Ava could feel the rage boiling through her veins, reminding herself of all the reasons why she had to stay calm, Ava sat down, closed her eyes for a second, and willed herself to be calm.
“I will join you at the meeting once I am done with her, tell that to alpha Damon,” Ava said calmly, a little more calmly than she had expected it to come out.
She watched the princess’s expression change from anger to surprise and to something else she could not read.
Standing up, Princess stormed out, why did she seem so calm, why was she not as bothered by it as she had hoped, princess asked herself repeatedly.
It was true what Alpha Jude had said, this was not the Mitchell she knew and was used to, this was Ava.
She had seemed so unfazed, too calm, the princess could not understand why.
Ava watched the door close behind Princess and heaved a sigh of relief, she was too unbearable for Ava’s liking.
Standing up, she ran her fingers through her hair, lazily combing through.
She walked to the conference room, inhaling a calming breath before she pushed the large doors open and let herself in.
Quickly finding a seat, she sat down and looked up to meet Alpha Damon’s eyes already on her.
They held softness, the type that made her want to run into his arms and just be there forever.
But it was impossible, she was carrying his child and fully mated to him, yet it still seemed destiny did not want them together at all.
His eyes had not left her still, and although she did not look at him, Ava could tell.
She had grown accustomed to his looks, she could feel his eyes she could tell exactly what part of her they were looking at and right now, he was staring intently at her hair.
Her hair looked exceptionally beautiful today, it had a wonderful shine to it, and her skin though pale looked flawless.
Princess fumed where she sat, she was intrigued by Ava herself but was bitter as to why alpha Damon did not even seem discrete in his longing for her.
Anyone could tell he wanted to take her there and then, his eyes roamed her entire body, lingering longer than should be on her hair.
Which looked incredibly amazing, if they were not so much of enemies in her books, the princess would have sorted for some hair tips or routine.
Soon the meeting was over, and she watched Ava gather her stuff to leave, but Aloha Damon intercepted, talking to her
From where she sat it was difficult to make out what they were saying, but she saw a sweet smile across Ava’s lips.
He could not be stopped, but she would have to do something to stop her.
Maybe it was time to meet Alpha Jude one more time, and get these things sorted before it got more out of hand than it already was.
They both walked out of the hall together, with alpha Damon walking behind her, his eyes glued to her luscious Hips and ass.
Rolling her eyes, Princess got up and stalked out of the hall, going straight to her assigned office
She had to send a message to Alpha Jude immediately, she could not take
