Chapter 2402: Tom Discovered

Book:Mr. Marsh's Twins Published:2024-11-26

“Keep it a secret for now,” Tom said, “I’ll tell her once things are stable on my end.”
Jeffery didn’t say anything further. He focused on driving, but he couldn’t help thinking that Master and Miss Campbell looked quite compatible together. Unfortunately, their fate was too shallow.
At home, Agnes sat cross-legged on the sofa, holding her kitten. She watched the white curtains on the balcony flutter in the wind, feeling an infinite sadness. Thinking of her Mr. Cat always brought tears to her eyes. She sat there for an hour, her mind filled with his image. Ever since she knew that Mr. Cat was Tom Fritz, her obsession had only deepened.
She recalled every detail of their time together, magnifying each memory. Did he have even a little bit of affection for her?
At Arkpool City International Airport, Tom Fritz boarded the plane with his boarding pass. Jeffery did not accompany him; he would join Tom later after handling some matters here. Soon, the plane taxied down the runway and soared into the sky.
Tom left, taking with him Agnes’s endless longing and love for him. Sitting by the window, Tom Fritz took out his laptop and began checking emails.
When he saw one particular email, his brow furrowed tightly-
“Mr. Cat, my brother-in-law recently gave me a Munchkin cat. Amazingly, it’s also named Bubu. I really like it.”
Tom Fritz read the email over ten times, each word striking him deeply.
The keywords were so obvious!
Brother-in-law gave it; it’s also named Bubu.
Tom’s brow furrowed slightly, and his eyes suddenly felt sore. He turned to look at the layers of clouds outside the window.
It was her; these two Bubus were the same person.
Tom Fritz began to recall the night Agnes stayed over at his house when she applied medicine to him in his study and acted unusually.
She must have seen the email then; she knew his identity that night.
That’s why she asked for a hug… and couldn’t help but kiss him.
As he thought about it, Tom Fritz closed his laptop and leaned back in his seat with his eyes shut. The feeling in his heart was hard to digest.
After a long while, he slowly opened his eyes and checked his emails again.
On his birthday, she had told him-
“Knowing your name has long occupied my heart. The world is interesting because of you. I wish you happiness not just on your birthday but every day, my Mr. Cat.”
This heavy emotion weighed on Tom’s heart like a mountain.
What puzzled him was why Agnes didn’t tell him directly after knowing the truth?
And she hadn’t sent him any new emails during this time.
Her last email was a farewell…
She wanted to let go; she must be tired.
Tom Fritz couldn’t help but think of the scene he inadvertently witnessed when dropping Agnes off at home earlier-the boy holding roses at the entrance of her neighborhood.
Was he her boyfriend?
Was she starting a new life?
Pure and kind-hearted girl, I wish you happiness.
Tom Fritz was naturally reserved and introverted. In such circumstances, he could only keep all his emotions buried deep inside.
What awaited him were several major research projects and countless hours in the lab leading one of the world’s best research teams to contribute to society.
This was the mission of a chemistry professor and their lifelong career.
The next morning.
Agnes hadn’t eaten dinner last night. Despite going to bed early, she still felt exhausted upon waking up.
A particular unhappiness enveloped her tightly; it was truly unbearable.
Mr. Cat had left this city as if taking all its oxygen with him.
