Aiden’s pov
As soon as Ashton was in my hold, I hugged him to me and inhaled his comforting scent. He was unharmed and was in my hold. He was safe.
“Dada,” He giggled, hugging me.
His innocent mind surely didn’t know what was truly going on around him.
I held him closer, wishing I could protect him more.
Lillian throws her hair over her shoulder. “He missed you as much I did.”
I looked at her. “Where is Sophie?”
The smile moves off her face and is replaced with a frown.
“Can you stop mentioning that woman when you’re here with your family? ”
I gritted my teeth. That woman was getting on my last nerves.
“Lillian-
A blaring of a phone suddenly cuts me off.
Lillian looks over at the terrified woman. “Get my phone.”
The woman nod quickly and rush over to pick up the phone.
She swiftly got back to Lillian and hands her the phone.
Lillian smile when she saw whoever it was. She answered.
“Chris.’
froze.
Christopher was calling her.
Lillian’s eyes snap to mine, a smirk forming on her lips. “Two red lines huh?”
Two red lines?
“Aiden’s actually here with me right now. He’s being so sweet,” She giggles. “I think he’d love to know that we’re going to expect another baby.”
I froze. My blood running cold.
What was Lillian on about? Another baby?
She rolls her eyes and sighs. “Yes Christopher, two red lines mean positive. She’s pregnant.”
My heart skips.
We’re they referring to Soph? What the hell was going on?
“Lillian,” I tried to garner her attention.
I needed to at least know if Sophie was unharmed too.
She holds her finger up. “Wait a moment baby. I’ll give you my full attention in a sec.
She nod. “Yes nine months.” After those words she puts the phone down on the table and stares at me with a beam that made me uneasy.
What was she so happy about?
Who was pregnant?
I had a feeling it was Sophie, who else would they be referring to?
That alone made my blood boil.
If they found it she was pregnant, it was by force.
I clenched my hands, glaring down at the table.
“A single hair on her head and you all are dead.” I grumble under my breath.
“Beg your pardon baby. What were you saying?” Lillian gig-gled.
I snap my eyes to hers. “Nothing.” I responded tightly.
Her grin broadened. “Did you hear the good news?”
I quickly turn Ashton away to protect him from the flying shards.
“Lillian what the fuck is wrong with you!?” I roared.
I rise to my feet, turning away to keep Ash safe from the glass shards as she tugged the entire dining cloth, causing every plate and glass to shatter.
“How about that surprise now my sweet?” She giggled as if nothing happened.
This woman was insane.
“Get my father.” She uttered.
I turn slightly to see that she had spoke to the terrified older woman who nodded quickly and rushed out of the penthouse.
Lillian smiles at me. “Finally we’ll be husband and wife today.” I struggle to keep my glare off my face and the urge to strangle
Lillian wasn’t helping.
But despite my urges, I knew I had to play it safe for the sake of my son and Sophie. At least until the cops got Sophie out of
there.
So plastering a smile on my face, I questioned with curiosity.
“What good news baby?”
She claps her hands as if excited. “We’re going to welcome a baby soon. Let’s pray it’s a girl this time around.”
I gritted my teeth.
“Lillian. Is it Sophie? Is Sophie the one pregnant? Your broth-er, did he force her-
She clutches a glass and flings it on the wall. It shatters, startling Ash who began to wail.
“I am the one who’s pregnant with your baby Aiden! Sophie isn’t going to be in our lives anymore. Stop mentioning her!” She snarls.
I hugged Ashton to me and glared at Lillian. “What the fuck do you mean Lillian! Did you hurt Sophie!? You gave me your word you’d not hurt her and Ashton if I came here!” I roared.
“Where is she?” I gritted out every word.
Lillian looked at me silently for a few second and them answered reluctantly. ” She’s not dead if that’s what you’re ask-ing.”
“Lillian. I need you to elaborate. Where is Sophie?”
She suddenly reaches out for my hand. “Baby do you not trust me? If you don’t want the other baby, I could call my brother and make him get rid of them if you want?”
I stiffen.
I should’ve kept my mouth shut. Now the psychopath was about to harm Sophie.
“No! Don’t.” I tore my eyes away from hers and glared at the table. For being one of the wealthiest man in America, to now practically a begger. Now I’m fucking weak and unable to save the two people I love the most in the world. But I would die trying.
“Please don’t. I trust you. I won’t mention her again, okay?”
Those words tasted bitter in my mouth.
I loathed this woman from the bottom of my soul.
Lillian’s eyes narrowed as she studied me across the table. ” I’m glad you came back to your senses. I would be so upset to get rid of the baby.” She sighs and picks up the fork.
She pokes the potato salad. “You know, I have a surprise for you. I thought we could eat and then I would show it to you but I’m so excited.” She beamed, her eyes lifting to mine.
They fall on Ashton and I instinctively bring him closer to me.
I don’t want that witches eyes on my son.
Hearing his giggles broke me. He was too innocent to be put into this kind of situation.
“But I can’t wait to see your reaction.” She smiles, chewing the
potatoes.
I looked down at my phone, wishing I could see Ryland’s name pop up right now to let me know the police got Sophie safely.
But to my luck.
A dark screen greets me.
I lift my eyes back to Lillian. “What surprise are you on about Lillian?”
Her eyes narrowed. “Call me baby.”
I rubbed my teeth together. “Baby. What is this surprise of vours?”
“You’ll know in due time. Why don’t you eat.” She nods her head to the plenty food on the table.
I looked at her the the older woman behind her. The woman shakes her head slightly, her eyes wide in alarm.
It’s enough to alert me.
“Sorry baby,” I stressed on the word baby. “I’m full. I ate earli-er. Eating now would make me sick.”
The sound of the fork clashing on the plate made me stiffen.
Lillian then rises to her feet and picked up her plate.
She throws it to the floor. It shatters.
