Aiden’s pov
“You’ve gone mad!” I snarled through the other end.
This woman was a psychopath! The entire family were!
“Why would you say that Aiden?” Her voice sounded tight.
With a psychopath like her, it would be best to not provoke her.
I didn’t want her to harm Ashton or Sophie.
“Lillian. What have you done with Sophie? Where have you taken my son?” I questioned and rose to my feet.
“Sophie? Who’s Sophie?” She giggled. I ran my hands through my hair in frustration. Lillian’s mentality had gotten worse.
“Lillian-
“Kidding! Sophie is umm, how about I tell you where when you get home? Does that sound good?” Her giggles made my ear hurt, but not as much as it made my heart ache.
No it doesn’t fucking sound good.
I bit my tongue.
“Lillian if you hurt them,” I took in a long inhale. God if she
hurt them……
I don’t think I would be able to live.
“Relax. I won’t hurt our son.” She let out an irritated breath.
“Come home and I’ll tell you where that woman is. Don’t wor-ry, I haven’t done anything to her…
” She drawled out and then
giggled.
Her words were not reassuring.
I had two options.
I could wait until the cops found them, or play along to the Mu-ralo’s sick game.
The cops have proven that they were useless. And Lillian was crazy enough to actually harm them if I didn’t show up.
“Send me your address Lillian, I’ll be home soon.” I gritted, holding back my vomit.
She giggled and sent me her address after she cut the line.
Is that my fucking address?!
Did they break into my penthouse!
“What’s going on?” My dad asked with concern in his tone.
I looked up. “Lillian has Ashton. But I’m not sure she has So-phie. She doesn’t sound like she does.” I furrowed my brows, raking my brain.
I looked around the room, trying to think of a place they’d keep Sophie.
My phone starts to buzz.
Seeing that it was her, I answered quickly.
“Lillian.” I grumbled tightly.
“Oh one more thing baby, don’t involve the police. If you do, poof, no more Sophie. And no more Ash! I’d hate to lose my son Aiden. So tread lightly. I’ll see you soon!” After those words, she hanged up.
I ran a hand down my face and then looked up. My eyes caught silver. A chain around Mila’s neck.
It looked similar to the one I gave Soph. My heart skips.
God. How could I have forgotten about it!?
I put my phone on and searched for her location. I put a tracker on that chain just in case something like this happened.
I couldn’t trust anyone for months, so I gave it to her as a pre-caution.
I can’t believe I forgot about it.
“Mila, Ria, did Sophie have a chain around her neck? Silver with a rose pendant?”
Mila nods. “Yes. If I recall, she put it on before we left.”
Relief washed over me a little. At least she had it on, which meant there was a possibility I could locate her.
“Why?” Ria asked.
“I put a tracker on that chain as precaution.” I uttered as I put on the tracker.
Hopefully she still had it on.
I am relieved when I got her location. My shoulders sagged.
She wasn’t far from here either.
“I got her.” I let out an exhale. I was right, Sophie wasn’t with Ashton. They separated them.
“Thank God!” Ingrid’s husband breathed out.
“Where is she?” Dad asked, walking over to me.
“She’s not too far from here but I’m not sure I know the place-
My phone buzzes again. Lillian’s name flashed on the screen.
I ground my teeth. “What?” I sneered lowly when I answered the phone.
“You only have fifteen minutes to get here before I have them blow Ashton’s and Sophie’s brains out,” She then giggled as though she hadn’t said something so terrible.
My body froze.
Fifteen minutes.
Ashton and Sophie were held captive different places.
My brain race and so did my heart.
“Lillian please don’t hurt them, I’ll be there soon.” I rushed, my throat bobbing as I swallowed harshly.
She giggles. “Fourteen minutes my love. I just miss you so much! Two months without you. I know you’ve missed me too.”
“Lillian, I’ll be there soon. Just don’t do anything to them.
Please,” I swallowed and clenched my hand into fists. “Baby.
I’ll be here soon.”
The word baby tasted like acid on my tongue just now. But I had to play along for Sophie’s and Ashton’s safety.
She giggles. “Come home my love. We’re waiting.” She sang and ended the call.
I run my hands through my hair again. Panic start to set in once more. Just when I thought I had everything under control…..
I had to choose.
She was making me fucking choose.
“Aiden?” Dad whispered as he watch my disheveled state.
I clench my eyes tightly and try to think.
I couldn’t be at two places at once. Where they held Sophie, was further from here. My penthouse was closer.
If I didn’t show up..
I swallowed and opened my eyes.
“I’ll send the cops Sophie’s location and go to Lillian to stall her so she wouldn’t suspect I know where Sophie is being held. I’ll play along to whatever fucking game she wants me to play. ” I uttered.
There was a better chance for me to keep them safe by going to that psychopath.
“So you’re going to Lillian?” Mila asked, her brows pinching with concern.
I nod. “I have thirteen minutes to get there before she does something to them. I need someone to come with me but stay in the car. There’s no telling if they have someone guarding around the building.”
“I’lI come with.” Ryland offered.
“Be safe.” Mila told him, blushing furiously when he smiled at her reassuringly.
“And I’ll follow the cops. I’ll make sure Sophie gets home to you safe Aiden.” Austin declared.
I nod, my heart hurting knowing I couldn’t be there for her when they get her away from those psychopaths clutches.
“Please. Make sure she’s unharmed.” I whispered.
Austin reassures me. “I’ll tag along too.” Ingrid husband’s said to Austin after I sent him Sophie’s location.
Ryland and I quickly left. We took his car, me in the driver’s seat. I stepped on the gas, and got to the building in less than ten minutes.
“I’ll call if anything.” I told Ryland as I stepped out of the car quickly.
He’s in the back, hiding away just in case there are people guarding around. The car windows are tinted so it would be hard to spot him in the back unless you open the car door and peek inside.
“And I’ll call when they get Sophie. What are you going to do when they get her? I mean to Lillian?”
“I’m not sure what I’ll do to that woman. But there’s one thing I know for certain. And that’s to get my son out of harms way.” I uttered, closed the door and rushed over to the front doors.
Time was ticking. And it was ticking fast.
