Chapter 115

Book:Her Alpha's Rejected Mate Published:2024-11-25

Pandora’s POV
Once Wilson and I got the awkwardness out of the way. We relaxed into the joyful mood of the baby’s arrival. Kiara was all smiles, and she did not look weak at all.
The excitement radiated all over her face until all of a sudden, she was not smiling anymore and had her eyes fixed at the door.
We all trailed her eyes and I nearly ran mad when I saw who was standing at the door with a bouquet of roses in his hand.
“Eric, what are you doing here?” I demanded as Rolan tightened his grip on my hands to prevent me from going to him and giving him a well-deserved smack on the face. He had a lot of nerves showing up here with flowers like he was a good person.
“I came here to see my mate and my child.” He scoffed, and I nearly threw up blood from the rage that rose in my chest.
“You didn’t know you had a mate and a child all these while you were nowhere to be found? You actually had the guts to show up here like your presence and the roses means anything? Is this your wack attempt to make up for everything that has happened, or are you the psycho that I think you are?” I snapped at him angrily.
“Get him to leave, please get him to leave. I don’t want to ever set my eyes on him again. He is a soulless and heartless person.” Kiara cried. The men stood up immediately and walked up to him, probably to get him to leave.
I turned my attention to Kiara and held her hands, trying to offer her some comfort. She was crying profusely now, and I felt bad for her.
“It’s alright. Rolan and Wilson will make sure that he does not bug you anymore.” I assured her and she nodded her head.
“You know, I actually texted him last week that I was going to deliver his baby, and you won’t believe what he did next.” She sniffled as another bout of tears ran down the corners of her eyes.
“What did he do?” I asked her, even though I knew that she did not need another prompt to tell me what he did to her.
“He asked me to lend him some money so he could come. He even threatened to take the baby away from me. Can you believe that? That fool wanted to take away my child.” She cried and shook her head sadly.
“He must be a joker. I’m sure you know that there is not one universe where that can happen. He won’t come in here and act like a hero when he has been missing in action all this while. I’m so angry that he even thought to show his face here after doing such a disgusting thing just a few days before.” I added, wishing that I could go out there and make true of my desire to smack him across the face.
“I can’t imagine him taking my baby away from me.” She spat, and even shuddered at the thought.
“You do not have to worry about that, I am going to personally make sure that never happens. Put your mind at rest.” I assured her.
“I have something to tell you Pandora.” She started after a short silence, her eyes filled with tears.
“What is it?” I asked her and moved closer to her so she does not have to scream before I can hear her.
“You have to promise me that you won’t tell anyone?” Kiara asked, and I wondered what it was that she was being so secretive about.
“I promise. Not another soul will hear of whatever you tell me today.” I gave her my word.
“You know, some months ago, I found out about Eric’s cheating and went to a bar. You were not around, and I had just found out that he was treating me badly because of some servant girl that his father had arranged for him to be sleeping with.” She started and I listened with rapt attention.
“Go on.” I nodded my head slowly, wanting to encourage her to trust me and divulge the rest of what she wanted to tell me.
“That night, something happened between me and a stranger. I had drank too much, but I strongly feel that is the day I got pregnant. The baby might not be Eric’s.” She finished, and burst into a fit of tears.
I was shocked that she could actually do something like that and not let me know about it for so long. If Eric turned out not to be the father of the baby, then someone out there has a child that they are not even aware exists. It was a twisted world, and I knew that we had to find a way to confirm that the baby was truly not Eric’s.
“It’s okay. Calm down. It’s not the end of the world. Once we are settled out of here, I can have Eric’s sample secretly taken, and we do a DNA test for your child. For your sake and that of the baby girl, I hope that he isn’t the father.” I hummed, admitting my deep dislike for Eric and his terrible behavior.
“Thank you Pandora.” She sniffled.
I smiled at her. “There’s nothing to thank me for. Just talk to me on time when next anything happens.” I said to her, and she nodded her head, wiping the tears from her face with the hospital sheet.
The men returned at that moment, and I quickly helped her clean her face with my handkerchief.
“Hey” I turned to them, trying to act like everything was normal, and I had not just heard the wildest thing that my friend had done in her life.
“He is gone. I had my guards taken him to the dungeon. That way we would know where he is and be sure that he was not going to hurt Kiara or the baby.” Rolan assured us and I nodded my head, things would be a lot easier for me now. I knew where he was, all I had to do was get a personal item of his that had his marks.
