Alpha Wilson’s POV
I jerked up from my sleep. It was the same nightmare again, one that had my mom dissecting my sister’s insides and eating it with her crazy lover, Zach. My night was ruined, and I knew that there was no way that I was going to sleep a wink again.
Ashley had been my greatest worry when I was in jail, but I had thought that she would be satisfied with the life she had. She had her one true mate by her side whom I learned she shot to death the day she left with our mother.
She was also doing a big thing in a field that she has always been really passionate about. All that had not been enough for her, even though she wanted Rolan above all of these things.
She was not one to back down from getting what she wanted, but I hoped that it would not get in the way of her staying with Rolan and Pandora.
With the arrival of her mate, I had hoped that things would be different, and it wasn’t, which is the only reason why she could not get her mind off him.
“Hey!” I heard someone call out to me from the dark. She was heavily pregnant, although I could not tell how long she had been pregnant.
“Hey,” I grumbled and went about my business in the kitchen, trying my best to ignore the intruder.
“My name is Kiara. We met earlier, I’m not sure if you remember me.” She started, and I knew that this one would not let me go without talking me crazy tonight.
“Yeah. I remember. I’m Wilson.” I introduced myself dryly as she pushed a cup of orange juice to my front.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I’m sorry about Ashley. Pandora believes in her so much, and it is something that we are all holding on to right now.” She sighed, sounding genuinely concerned about my sister.
“You are Pandora’s friend?” I asked her, just to be sure.
“Yes. Best friends, in fact, we are almost sisters.” She answered happily.
“Oh, that’s great, then. Did you meet my sister?” I asked her.
“Yes. Hung out with her a couple of times. She was a smart and beautiful woman. I didn’t mind doing stuff with her, she was cool. Pandora’s little baby.” She chuckled dreamily and took another spoon of the ice cream that she had placed in front of her.
“Thank you for saying that,” I smiled and took a sip of the cup of orange juice.
“You know, I wonder what really happened that day. She does not seem like someone who would do something like that. I smell something fishy going on.” She broke the silence, fingers placed on her chin thoughtfully.
“Don’t worry about her. She will be fine. Once we are able to get her back, I’m sure that we will know the truth. I don’t know how to take all of this news I’m hearing. I’m so burdened.” I admitted and was shocked at how vulnerable I had gotten with a total stranger.
“It’s okay to feel that way. Things are not exactly going the way we want them right now, and there is no big deal about that. We all go through that phase, you just have to get through it. Be strong, okay.” She placed a hand on my shoulder.
I nodded my head. “Thank you for listening to my ramblings,” I said to her, thankfully.
“You can talk about other stuff. I make the best alcoholic juices that you have ever tasted. It will relax you and get you wasted enough to go back to bed.” She smirked, and before I could react, she was picking up shakers and bringing down alcohol from the wine rack.
“What about you? Why are you not in bed?” I asked her, seeing that she didn’t need my permission to make me a drink.
“My back is killing me. I can’t wait until I deliver this baby later this week. I’m tired. You can’t imagine the weight I carry every day and how I eat like a horse.” She groaned, sounding truly frustrated with what she was going through.
“Sorry about that. I’m sure your husband will do better to take care of you.” I said and watched the brief moment of pain pass through her eyes. It disappeared as quickly as it came, and she turned her attention back to me, bright-eyed.
“I’m sure he will.” She waved a hand dismissively and pushed the first mixture to my front.
I took the cup carefully and smelt it, worried about her taste buds considering that she was pregnant and could have one of the worst cravings ever.
“Try it, I’m not going to kill you.” She chuckled and I laughed. It was the first time I had laughed in months, and even the sound of my laughter sounded foreign to me. I laughed again, enjoying the sound of laughing freely after so long.
“Fine. Promise? Or make sure you have the clinic on standby.” I teased her and it was her turn to break into a smile. It was a beautiful smile and I wanted to see more of that unconsciously.
“Agreed. I will have the clinic on standby.” She then let out a low throaty laughter, almost like a low growl, and then she clutched her waist.
I took the first sip and was shocked at the burst of flavors that exploded in my mouth. It was crazy that she had only mixed three things to get such a nice flavor. I savored the beauty of the taste and nearly moaned in ecstasy. This was by far the most tasty thing that I had ever put in my mouth.
“That’s alright. How do you like it?” She said it with a grimace on her face.
“It’s so beautiful, Kiara. You should really consider opening a bar. This is pure talent. I am grateful to have been served by you.” I praised her and immediately, I heard the water splatter on the floor.
“I’m going into labor. The baby is here.” She shrieked just as the look of pleasure on my face changed to horror.
