I woke up with a start, the movement caused Pandora to stir lightly. She moved closer to my body and threw one of her legs on me.
“Baby, go back to bed.” She murmured sleepily and I smiled.
Whatever had woken me up, I figured it was just the fact that I had slept sad for so long, my body wasn’t used to the peace that I felt tonight.
“I love you,” I whispered and checked the time. It was almost 6:00 am. The meeting with the Council of Wolves was by 8:00 am, as I was going to pick a day for the ball of the year.
Caleb and I were to meet in my study by 7:00 am so he could brief me on what they had settled for. Hurrying to the bathroom, I took my bath and dressed up.
By the time I was coming out, Pandora was awake and sitting at the edge of the bed.
“Good morning, Baby.” She greeted drowsily and rubbed her eyes.
“Good morning sweetheart. How was your sleep?” I asked.
“The best I have had in a while.” She said and smiled at me. Her smile was the most beautiful smile and I never stopped obsessing about it since the day I had seen it.
“It was the same for me too. Come here. Come to Papa!” I said, and she ran into my arms.
“I love you, Pandora. You are my bright light in a dark world, the only reason why I breathe.” I muttered and kissed her deeply.
“Your meeting.” She said as soon as she pulled away from me. I did not feel like leaving her anymore, and it would not be fair for me to drag her along with me for my meetings today.
“I know. Since you are sending me away, I will go.” I teased, pretending to be hurt.
“Don’t be like that. You know that is not what I mean. I don’t just want you to neglect your duties. I am here and won’t be leaving ever again. However, I need to go back to Red Moon Park to get my stuff. Mind if I go with Kiara?” She asked me and my heart missed a beat.
“No, I will have Griffin and Caleb move it down here for you. Ashley will be moving to the technical institute on Wednesday, I can have the boys move your things the same day.” I said with a tone of finality.
The thought of her being somewhere alone without me was tearing me apart. All these months of pain and suffering just for her to say she wants to go somewhere with her friend, another defenseless pregnant female.
“Why? I did not say a proper goodbye to Mrs. Edna and Wilson. It is not kind of me to act like that.” She said angrily. Ross had warned me about her hormonal raging. I was prepared for this and ready to face it head-on.
“You left there yesterday, baby. Let me be with you for a few weeks before you go back there. I can have it arranged for them to visit you here. In fact, host them here. That will be a better way to show your gratitude and reciprocate their act of kindness towards you. What is even better is you get Ashley here, and we take care of her very well in return.” I proposed, hoping that I had managed to convince her in my ramblings.
She did not say anything at first, time was running out, and I did not want to keep Caleb waiting because I wanted to begin the meeting and end it early so I could come back to Pandora’s arms.
“Alright. I have heard you. I will arrange to host them here.” She resigned weakly and to my greatest surprise.
“Oh thank you, baby. I have to go now. I will see you in a few hours. Call me or text me if there is anything at all. Please. Don’t do anything all by yourself. I will have breakfast sent to your room and Kiara will come up later. She had to rush to a meeting this morning.” I informed her, kissed her gently, and hurried out of the room.
I bumped into Marilyn at the staircase and saw that she was headed to the dungeon.
“Marilyn, I hope you are not trying to do anything funny. Who the fuck gave you the keys to Uncle Joe’s Cell? Did you steal this from my room?” I rained questions on her while she stood transfixed on the ground.
“I… I… I didn’t. I found it.” She stuttered, her hands shaking nervously.
“Marilyn, if you continue like this, you will have to leave. I won’t let you come and use your baseless emotions to upset the peaceful life that I am trying to have with my pregnant wife. Hand the keys over to me.” I ordered coldly, and she ran to her room crying.
“Stupid. Idiotic. How was I ever going to navigate life with this dunce? It would have been so hard.” I shook my head and walked into my study.
I met Caleb seated already, Griffin was standing close to the window and staring straight outside.
“Good morning Alpha.” They chorused while Griffin walked up to me and shook my hands.
“Good morning Caleb. Good morning brother.” I greeted them and realized that I had not told Pandora about the recent development of Griffin and me being stepbrothers. I made a mental note to tell her when I got back to the room.
“Caleb, thank you so much. Your hard work paid off. I have asked the accountant to have some money sent to you, have you received it yet?” I asked to confirm if he had gotten his payment.
“Thank you Alpha, but my job is not done.” He said and Griffin sat down opposite me.
“How? The Luna is back.” I said.
“Yes, but listen to this recording I extracted from the Red Moon palace. I did not trust them seeing that they all had disturbed wolves and had the whole place wired. My suspicion was proved right. They are psychopaths.” Caleb said and pressed play on his phone.
