Chapter 72: Alpha Rolan’s POV

Griffin and I sat in Ross’s office. He had the result of the DNA in an envelope placed on his desk.
“Open the damn result and tell us what is in there, Ross.” I sneered at him. He looked at me, challenging me with a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
“I am just following standard procedures, Alpha. I will need to start a Pep talk to get you both ready for whatever is in the envelope.” Ross teased us and my eyes darkened.
He was really amusing himself with my situation. Even though I knew that he was just playing, it still upset me that he chose a time like this to play jokes.
“Wrong time Ross. What is the result?” Griffin chipped in. Ross has always been very scared of Griffin. I knew that he considered him to be too unfeeling and emotionally rigid.
“Alright. Before you both beat me up for simply doing my job.” He said and picked up the envelope, tearing it open and studying it for some time.
“Well, here’s the result. I believe that it is self-explanatory. You are sharing genes that are up to a 95% match. That means you are siblings.” He announced.
I sat down there, transfixed on the spot, knowing that this little announcement here had ruined my father’s marriage. I knew that my father wanted to do the honorable thing by marrying Griffin’s mom when he saw her pregnant, but the pain still hurt as if he had done something wrong.
I always thought that my family was at least near perfect, and we did not have any scandal. In fact, we had not had a scandal in years.
“You do not have to acknowledge me, Alpha Rolan,” Griffin said, his voice breaking into my thoughts.
“I do not have to acknowledge you, but you are who you are and that must be acknowledged. I would like Pandora to be found…”
“Oh Alpha, the Luna only went to see her friend. She will be back soon. I agree with you that we should wait until she gets back before we make any final decision.” Griffin cut in immediately, and I realized that I was just about to give out information that Pandora was missing.
Every day, I would have Uncle Joe stripped and flogged. We ran out of nails in one month, and we have also run out of toes and some fingers.
I intended to remove every inch of his body piece by piece until the day that Pandora was found.
“Alright. Thank you, Ross.” I turned to him and he nodded.
“You don’t mind me asking a question do you?” Ross asked me.
“I have not seen The Luna in recent times, her pregnancy is a very special one, and I was hoping that we could monitor her a lot more than we are now. So, when she comes back, please endeavor that she comes down to the hospital for a special checkup on her wellbeing and that of the baby.” He advised.
“You said you had a question and then went ahead to give us a speech. The Luna traveled, when she comes back, she will surely come by the hospital.” Griffin answered.
“Also, how come the two of you are siblings? Rolan, your father, the former Alpha did not cheat on the previous Luna, did he?” Ross asked innocently, his eyes full of shock and disbelief.
“No one should get to know about this until we make an official announcement. We are the only three people who know as of this moment, so if word gets out, it won’t be hard to find out who’s running mouth could not stop leaking.” Griffin added and scoffed. He walked out of the room and slammed the door.
“Alright, Ross. Thank you very much for your help today.” I thanked him, knowing how hard he had to work to be able to get our results ready in such a short while.
“It’s nothing, brother. Tell Griffin to chill out. He should stop acting like some ancient monk or something. I know he is your brother, but you really have to talk to him. He won’t be able to get any girl if he keeps at this.” He chuckled.
“Alright make sure you do not talk to anyone else about this. It is a very sensitive matter but with a very simple explanation. Something happened, and I do not want to explain it to anyone else. It will be bringing my private matters to a public space.” I said to him, and he nodded his head, using his hand to make the sign of him zipping his mouth and throwing the key away.
We both laughed and shook hands firmly.
“You look light, though. Are you sure you are fine, Rolan?” Ross asked me with care in his voice.
I was moved by his concern for my well-being and even the fact that he had noticed that I did not look too good. I wished that I could explain to him, but I casually shrugged off what he had said.
“It’s just the workload that is taking a toll on me. I will try to get a break when Pandora comes back. Seems like she is the only thing that can calm the raging storm happening in my head.” I said and we both laughed again.
I stepped out to meet Griffin standing at the exit door and leaning on the entrance.
“Alpha, I have some news. Caleb is back. He is having a very strong suspicion but asked that we meet at his place later tonight and have a conversation about it.” Griffin informed me.
“Don’t call me Alpha again, you can call me Brother or Rolan. Whichever one of the two that you set your mind to call me. I don’t want all that formal bullshit anymore. You are my brother.” I assured him and held him gently by the shoulder.
After all these years of being alone, I finally have someone to call my relative. I prayed desperately to the moon goddess that Pandora be found soon, my world would then be complete.
