I was still at the buzz of work when Ashley came to inform me that Wilson had gone home as he was having a crisis, after taking his injection. I was not convinced that he was fine as I knew the level of monitoring that I needed to do most of the time before I was convinced that he was fine.
“I don’t know Mom, he looked fine so I let him drive home as that was the safest thing I could think of,” Ashley explained, but her words did nothing to calm the overwhelming dread that was beginning to wash over me.
“When you left him, did he look like he would be able to handle himself?” I asked, wanting to convince myself that my son was fine and probably not in some ditch somewhere.
“I am sure he was fine Mom. You do not have to worry your head about it!” She assured me and left the room, informing me that she was going to Preggo’s room to talk to her about a man that she had been crushing on.
I was absent-minded throughout the rest of the conversation, my mind refusing to leave the fact that Wilson was having a medical episode and on his own.
A few minutes after Ashley left me, following several failed attempts to calm my nerves, I picked up my car keys and headed home. I was scared as I drove, and I subconsciously touched the back of my neck where I had that huge gash with numerous other scars on my body.
I shivered at the thought of what could be happening at the moment and prayed to the moon goddess not to let it get out of hand. I drove home crazily, faster than I had ever driven before yet, I somehow still felt that I was not moving fast enough. I ran all the red lights and almost caused an accident in one of the traffic stops.
Soon enough, I was flagged down by one of the patrol officers on duty that I had zoomed past.
“Excuse me, ma’am!” He greeted and when I wined down my car windows, his eyes switched from their stern poise to a more friendly gait.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Luna!” He apologized and stepped away from the vehicle before I zoomed off again. I did not even reply to anything that the patrol officer said to me.
By the time I eased into the compound, the guards and everyone present were shocked. I was not bothered and all I cared about was running up to check on Wilson and finding out how fine he is.
I knew that if he had done anything, I would not want anyone else to see him like that first before I did.
I ran inside like a mad person and started screaming Wilson’s name. I rushed up the stairs and barged into his room hoping that I would meet him sleeping on his bed.
“Oh shit!” I moaned sadly and screamed his name a little louder.
“Wilson!”
“Wilson?!” I said as I opened his office door and saw it was empty. He was also not in his room, and I was starting to panic. I pulled out my cell phone to call Ashley and inform her of the newest development.
Before the number could even connect, I heard a scream come in from my office.
“Oh no! Please no!” I prayed and dashed off in the direction of my office. All through the time it took for me to get there, I kept praying to the moon goddess that he had not done the worst.
My worst fears were confirmed when I pushed the door open, and I was met with the crippling sight of Wilson twisting my personal maid’s neck, killing her instantly.
I stood transfixed at the same spot for some minutes before slowly walking towards Wilson.
“Wilson?” I called him, but he did not answer. Instead, he stood over her body, his hands shaking and his body shivering.
“Willie boy. It’s mommy.” I said and continued to move towards him gently.
“Mommy?” He said and opened his eyes, I saw recognition in his eyes and he threw his hands around me and hugged me tightly.
“Oh, mommy!” He said and started bawling. I cried along with him. I was in a lot of pain and was slowly beginning to understand the danger that he posed not just to all of us but also to himself.
“It’s okay baby. It’s okay, my boy. Mama is here. Mama is here now, boy. Everything will be just fine.” I consoled him even though my heart was a mess and pounding from the fear of what he might do to me today or some other day.
“Mama, I killed her. I did not mean to. She started screaming and even when I was trying to talk to her about it, she threatened to expose me. I would rather not be exposed, mother!” Wilson cried bitterly on my shoulders.
I pushed him off gently and dragged him out of the room, making sure to lock my office door properly so that another person would not see the body of Kirsten, my maid.
Wilson kept crying as I dragged him into his room and ran his bath, he kept muttering Kirsten’s name and how sorry he was about everything he had done to her.
“Wilson, just keep quiet and shower.” I urged him from behind the bathroom door, hoping that he would not get the idea to jump out through the window.
I calmed down when I heard him turn on the shower, even though he was still bawling as loudly as he could. The bathroom and the shower being turned on muffled some sounds. Hence it was not so loud.
A few minutes later, he came out, and I handed his pills to him and knocked him out soon enough.
When I was sure that he had left, I locked his door properly, making sure to double-check. I went back to my office, pulled out my phone, and dialed Ashley’s cell number.
“Hello, Ashley, you need to come home now. Something came up.” I managed to speak as calmly as I could.
