I heard the slap ring out and the soft whimpers of pain emanating from my mate at the end of the line.
“I am going to skin every one of these people alive,” I muttered to myself as I made devilish revenge plans in my head for when I get Pandora back.
“We will call you back to make our demands known to you,” a male voice said, and the call came to an end abruptly.
“Please moon goddess, protect her and the kids for me.” I prayed silently and turned to Kiara who had followed me.
“Pandora had been kidnapped.” I broke the sad news to her and watched as she sat down in the car and wept bitterly.
“It’s okay Kiara. I will get her back. I promise. Nothing will happen to my wife” I said.
I knew it looked like I was reassuring Kiara, but I was also reassuring myself in a way. I could not think about anything happening to Pandora. I made up my mind to be positive.
The doctor had suggested strict bed rest for her, and I had even refused her coming to get me from the airport, but Pandora had thrown a tantrum and I really could never know how to say no to her.
Thinking about it in light of the recent developments, I wished I had insisted on her not coming to get me. She would never have gotten kidnapped as no one was stupid enough to come to my palace and kidnap my wife.
I tried to think of anyone who could possibly want to hurt me, and my mind drifted off to Derrick.
But the recent happenings, especially since he displayed loyalty to me when he had the chance to take a shot at the greatest opportunity he would ever have to hurt me. Although we weren’t friends, we were also not enemies anymore.
At the thought of Derrick, I remembered another person who could hurt me.
“Uncle Joe?” I muttered, not realizing that I had said that out loud.
“Who is Uncle Joe?” Kiara asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“I am not sure. He is currently in my dungeon for plotting against me. I highly doubt he would have the heart to hurt Pandora. She saved his life when I ordered Griffin to drown him to death.” I said calmly and watched Kiara’s reaction to that piece of information.
“Anything could happen. I’ll drive Pandora’s car. Let’s inform the security agencies.” Kiara suggested, her face naive and innocent.
“It does not work like that with me, Kiara. I will look for my mate myself. You can take the car home, I’ll wait for Griffin and comb the area.” I said to her and wondered why Griffin was yet to arrive with the CCTV footage I ordered.
“I’ll stay here, Rolan. I don’t know what to do with myself when I am at home and Pandora is somewhere I do not know.” She said, and I managed a smile.
I was melting and panicking inside, hoping it wasn’t anyone dangerous enough to hurt Pandora and even the babies since her belly was already very protruding, so it would be easy to tell that she was pregnant.
Pandora had mentioned Unc before the kidnapper had slapped her and taken the phone from her. As I was about to call Griffin again, I saw him and several other cars driving towards where Kiara and I stood. I waved and they packed behind my car.
“Boss, I was able to get four coverages. None of it had shown what happened. The video even showed her driving past here.” Griffin reported to me, and I knew that whoever had got her also tampered with the CCTV footage.
An idea suddenly struck me.
“We are going home. Kiara rides with me. Griffin, let one of your men drive Pandora’s car back to the palace. As soon as you arrive, meet me at the dungeon.” I ordered, my head praying that Uncle Joe really has no hands in this whole kidnapping scheme because if he did, he will not be spared, and I will make sure that he passes through the worst death unimaginable to mankind.
“Dungeon?” Griffin asked.
“Yes. Meet me at Uncle Joe’s cell.” I commanded and got into the car. As soon as Kiara got into the car and donned her seatbelt, I drove the fastest way I could back to the palace.
Kiara was calling on me to slow down, but I ran down to the dungeon and swung open Uncle Joe’s cell. I went in and met a figure lying down on the bed and almost beat myself up for thinking that Uncle Joe, no matter how terrible he was, would do something to harm Pandora.
Just as I turned to leave, the figure shifted, probably unconsciously, and the cloth fell off their face, causing me to see the person clearly.
“This isn’t Uncle Joe.” I thought to myself. Griffin appeared at the door of the cell.
I went close to the figure on the bed to confirm that it really was not Uncle Joe. After I had confirmed, I slapped the figure on the bed so hard that I heard a face bone crack. The man held his face and screamed.
“What did I do?” He cried from his sleep.
“Where is Uncle Joe?” Griffin rushed to my side and dragged the man to the floor, pinning him to the cold floor with his hands behind him.
“I don’t know. He just pays me to stay here for a few hours every day. A guard sneaks me in and out. I do not know anything else. Please spare me.” He cried.
My suspicions were confirmed.
Uncle Joe really was responsible for the kidnap. I tried to control the emotions I felt, but since I couldn’t, I walked up to the man and snapped his neck, his now limp body hitting the cold floor with a heavy thud.
“Clean up this mess Griffin. I am going to look for my uncle.” I ordered coldly and walked out, my mind set on one thing.
Watching Uncle Joe’s blood run down my hands.
