I kissed Hermione and massaged her feet with oil, somehow I felt like I was watching someone else do everything that I was doing for Hermione and I couldn’t seem to settle down into it.
“Is everything okay?” Hermione asked me as she stroked my beard.
“Yeah baby, I am” I answered. I didn’t feel like staying there, something was telling me that I wasn’t happy to be in the position that I was in with Hermione.
“You do not look bright,” she asked me again.
“I am fine, Hermione. I am!” I snapped, I was shocked by the anger that rose fast in my chest.
She stood up from beside me angrily and walked out of my room. I sighed sadly and began to feel an unexplainable urge to go after her, the more I struggled, it was like my blood was boiling.
I stood up reluctantly and sauntered after her, catching up with her just before she started down the stairs.
“Hermione” I called out and reached out to grab her wrist.
“What is it? You were snapping at me a few seconds ago like I did something so bad.” She whined and pouted her lips.
I felt so exhausted and drained from all the time I had been with her, and I don’t even know why I felt this way.
“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you, Hermione. I have been under a lot of pressure, and you know perfectly well what I am talking about.” I explained and pulled her close to me.
“Forgive me, my love. I promise I won’t ever snap at you like that again.” I assured her and kissed her gently on the cheeks.
She smiled at me, and I felt the urge to run to the restroom and throw up. I fought down the feeling of nausea and endured it.
“Alpha Derrick?” One of my guards called from the door of the stairs. “You have a guest from white moon pack. An important guest.” He added, so I understand the urgency of the matter.
No one disobeys the white moon pack or even disrespects them.
“Alright. Make the guest comfortable. I’ll be done in a few minutes, and I’ll join him.” I said and turned to Hermione.
“Work calls. I will have my chief guard drop you off at home. I have to attend to this guest immediately. You understand?” I explained and touched her shoulder lightly.
She smiled at me again and I almost retched.
I hurried away from her down the stairs. I entered my office waiting room and met a middle-aged man.
“Hello”
“Hello, Alpha Derrick” the man greeted, but didn’t bow.
“Welcome to my pack. Is there a problem?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“My name is Joe. Rolan’s uncle.” He introduced himself and expected a certain reaction from me because when I continued staring at him waiting for him to state his mission for visiting, he looked at me like I was not supposed to be doing that.
“Am I supposed to do something?” I asked him, puzzled.
“Well, you and Rolan, I believe, are enemies. He is the new mate to your mate, and they are even married already.” He said.
When I heard the name Pandora, a certain chord struck in my heart, but I soon started feeling a bitter taste in my mouth like I was eating bile.
“I do remember everything that happened, but I am over that now. Tell Rolan that I send my apologies and will double my wolf year tribute at the end of the full moon” I said and made to leave.
“Don’t you want to hurt him? Revenge for him taking away your mate?” He asked me, a very shocked look on his face.
“What do you want me to do? I rejected her already. Are you not the popular Uncle Joe of White Moon Creek? The swindler wolf?” I asked him and watched as embarrassment crept up on his face.
“Look, I am only here to help you and share ideas with you, not have you insult me” he barked at me.
I kept quiet and quietly pressed the record button on my desk to record the conversation. I had already made up my mind that I was going to report him to Rolan.
“So what ideas do you want to share?” I asked him, baiting him into exposing all his evil thoughts.
“We can set up an accident, make it look seamless, and no traces back to any of us. If I do it in my pack, it would easily be thought to mean something else. I mean well for my pack, which is why I came to you. You will be a better sovereign leader than Rolan. Or we could set him up in an ambush and have him murdered, after all, he has plenty of enemies trying to kill him daily.” He said breathlessly.
Even though I could still see the anger in his eyes, he was willing to push all that aside and liaise with him to murder his nephew.
I knew that he was lying and could see through him. I studied him closely for some minutes and saw the impatience growing in his body language.
“I agree. I’ll need to call someone to help us. Give me some time. I’ll be back, pleased.” I excused myself to make a phone call and sent my secretary in to make him comfortable.
I punched in a number that I had never done before and even though I felt rising anger when I saw the name, I did not have the uncontrollable urge to react.
“Hello” The voice said when the call connected.
“Hello Rolan, this is Derrick. I have something to tell you about your uncle. He is sitting in my office right now, trying to discuss us killing you, so I could become Alpha. Send your men to come and get him and the recording of our conversation. I’ll try to hold him here until you arrive” I said.
There was silence at the end of the line and then finally, Rolan spoke.
“How am I sure what you are saying is true? We are not exactly friends, why are you helping me?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I feel like I would normally not do this, but I’m being pushed to do this. Send your men.” I said and ended the call.
