Chapter Ten: Alpha Rolan’s POV

I walked out of the house, slightly upset that I wasn’t able to convince Pandora and her family about my intentions for her.
“Round up boys. We are going back home” I ordered my men, and they all matched briskly to the car.
Inside the car, my mind kept wandering from thought to thought about Pandora. I found her so pretty and very attractive.
“Curse you Derrick for trying to make her feel less than a human. I’m going to love her like she should be loved, and I will treat her right.” I muttered under my breath.
“Are you alright, Alpha?” Griffin’s annoying voice cut into my thoughts.
I scoffed angrily.
“You should have stayed back, Griffin. Ruined my beautiful time with a gorgeous woman.” I scolded him.
“I am sorry Alpha” Griffin said and smiled, he was obviously pleased that I had developed an interest in a woman.
For years now, I have not felt the way I did for anyone but Pandora. I understood that it might be hard to trust the upper class right now, but he was going to woo her until she had no other option but to fall in love with me.
“I don’t want anyone to know about my advances at Miss Pandora Miller. Can you make sure of that?” I asked Griffin, worried about Pandora’s safety.
I couldn’t believe it’s only been a few hours of meeting Pandora. It felt like I had known her for a million years. Her bright smile lit up our conversation and her throaty laughter punctuated our conversation a lot last night. I caught myself smiling foolishly when I looked at the rearview mirror. I also saw Griffin stealing glances at me with a stupid smile plastered on his face.
“You look happy, boss. It’s been a long time since I saw your face so lit up. You usually have worry lines on your forehead. It was so bad that we feared that it might have become permanent. You always had a scowl on your face. Whatever Miss Pandora did to you, I think we owe her our thanks.” Griffin said.
I did not know exactly what he said that was funny to me, but I burst into a fit of laughter. I laughed so hard that tears welled up in my ears, and I clumsily looked for my handkerchief to dab at my eyes.
“Griffin, please focus on the road” I managed to choke out after surviving my fit of laughter.
Griffin smiled shyly and focused on the road. I gave his words a careful thought and realized that truly, for the first time in a long while, I was actually genuinely happy.
“Take me to work first. Didn’t you say I had a meeting?” I asked Griffin.
“Yes, boss. The meeting is at your hotel at the other end of town. The client is an investor that has been bidding for one of our properties for about four years.” He briefed me about the general background details of the client and also handed me a file from the front passenger seat of the car.
I glanced through the document I was just handed. I was very impressed with this client’s commitment to owning one of our properties. I made a mental note to take it easy on this client.
We soon drove into the venue of the meeting and Griffin immediately got out and opened my door. I stepped out of the bulletproof car and adjusted my tie. I made up my mind to close early from work early and go to lunch with Pandora. At least, she would have relaxed into the idea of settling down with me for the rest of her life.
I panicked at the thought and wondered if I wasn’t rushing her too much.
“Good morning Alpha. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I have waited for this day for a long time. Thank you for honoring the meeting.” The client said as soon as I took my seat opposite him.
“Good morning. You may proceed with your bid. My staff told me you requested to bid privately in a meeting with just me. I am here because I am a businessman, not an Alpha now or anything, so I expect you to deal with me as a businessman” I said, I noticed that he was likely an ass-kisser and I didn’t want anyone that would upset me for any reason today.
“I want to purchase an apartment on Fox Street. One of your buildings was there, but I was informed that there was a two-year waitlist that I did, and yet, I still wasn’t able to get the apartment. I felt that maybe my luck would shine better if I did a private bid. I am also willing to pay double the price for one of those apartments.” He begged me.
I studied him carefully for some time. There was something wrong with this client, but I couldn’t quite place my fingers on it yet.
“Why do you want the Fox Street apartment so badly?” I asked, genuinely curious because his desperation seemed unnatural.
“It’s my dream home. Ever since I saw the houses were opened for sale, I knew that that was an apartment that I wanted to stay in. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. It’s why I am also willing to wait four years just to be able to get a shot at living there.” He finished, almost pleading now.
I thought about it carefully for a few minutes and signaled Griffin to bring the property documents.
“I’ll lease one of the apartments to you for a year. I’ll decide whether I want to sell it or not after one year.” I said and handed him a pen to sign his signature on the lease agreement.
“Thank you Alpha” he thanked me and signed promptly.
“I do hope that at the end of the year, I will have impressed you enough for you to sell the house.” He said.
“I pray so too”
